Sunset Cottage - 30 feet above the ocean

Welcome to Sunset Cottage in Surry, Maine, a sleepy little town on Morgan Bay. Nestled among the trees, this home offers full views of the ocean from its 50' deck, sunroom, kitchen, dining room, and living room. The first floor master suite also looks out onto the ocean and has its own entrance to the deck. An acre of trees stand between the house and the quiet country road providing relaxing and peaceful seclusion.

As you approach the house, a log cabin that sleeps 4 welcomes your family. Steps leading from the deck down to the water beckon a walk on the beach, a must for children and grownups alike, and an opportunity to collect pebbles and shells and delight in the tide pools left behind as the water recedes back to the sea. Twice a day the tide changes, moving about 40 yards.

The main house is designed for comfort with king size beds in both the master suite and guest room. An additional full-size bed is also located in the guest room. There are two bathrooms, one in the master with a tub and shower and another with a shower. The dining room sits 6-8 comfortably and the well-equipped kitchen has everything needed to create memorable meals. Feel "away from it all" and still have internet and satellite TV (including movie channels). A piano sits ready for guests to play. Enjoy the 3 working fireplaces with ample firewood in the nearby woodshed. The separate cabin, just 60' away, has two twin beds and a daybed that opens to sleep two. While there is no running water in the cabin there is electrical power.
In the evenings, if a cool night awaits you, sit out on the deck by a crackling fire and watch the stunning sunsets over the bay. Located about an hour from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park and 20 minutes from Blue Hill and Ellsworth, Sunset Cottage is just 5 minutes to Carrying Place Beach on Newbury Neck, one of the few public sandy beaches around, and Perry's Lobster Shack, the place where locals go for fresh lobsters alive or cooked.
