“Escape” to a Waterfront Artist’s Home on Secluded Evergreen Point, Taunton Bay

This cedar and granite retreat sits on a point 25’ from the water and offers tremendous bay views, secluded canoeing/kayaking, and quick access to Acadia or Schoodic. Originally built as an artist’s hideaway on the unique protected waters of Taunton Bay, Escape is a perfect refuge for those looking to enjoy the water, explore the islands and shores, or lounge on the massive deck.

“Escape” is a modern, spacious vacation retreat with 2BR and a large loft, 3Baths and a large wraparound deck that steps down to the granite grottos of Taunton Bay. The downstairs flooring and carpeting have just been redone.
A spacious master suite offers great bay views from every window and a pink granite fireplace. The main kitchen is open and well appointed with stainless appliances and a rough granite half wall separating it from the dining and living rooms. The loft has three beds, great views and a game area for the children. A small second bedroom, with views, is situated on the main level adjacent to a bath/laundry room. Two canoes and a kayak are available for exploring the bay and the mussel bed.

The home provides WiFi, BBQ, washer/dryer and a TV/DVD.

This quiet and secluded location is perfect for relaxing on the deck or the shore and within 30 minutes drive to Acadia or Schoodic Point. Your family will love playing in the calm water on the cove, exploring the bay and the marine life around the mussel beds and, of course, listening to the loons.

Lovely lake house
We absolutely loved our time at Escape lake house in Maine! The setting was gorgeous and cannot be beat. The view is never the same and we loved watching the changing light on the water. The house is as described in the listing and the primary bedroom and bathroom are great. Note that one of the “bathrooms” is actually in a side entry room with the washer/dryer and extra stove, and is not super private. Also, 2 of the showers are very small stand-up showers. But, that said, for just 2 of us, this was not an issue and the location and views are worth it! Mark sent lots of good info prior to our trip and we contacted him after arrival to report a potential issue that turned out to be nothing. Communication with him was fast and efficient. Overall, we really loved our stay at Escape and we found it to be a great location for exploring Acadia and the Schoodic peninsula. It was also great to just hang at the house and enjoy the wonderful, ever-changing views. Thanks to Mark for sharing Escape with us! We hope to return again soon!

Escape
This house is an escape. It has a beautiful view and it is quiet and serene. Anyone staying in the loft needs to come down to the first floor to use the bathroom. Property is approx. 45 mins from Bar Harbor.

Beautiful place
Amazing spot! Secluded, beautiful sunsets and loved watching the tide change. We saw seals, eagles and all types of seagulls. Made lobsters multiple times. Our dogs really enjoyed the cove. Such a great spot! Only recommendation would be to note in the listing that the fireplace is “non working” or not for guest use.

Waking up every morning to the view in the waterfront and seeing the stars on a clear night was truly one of the great assets of this location. Property owner was responsive and helpful when needed. Looking forward to going back.

We loved Escape!
Escape was a perfect oasis for our time in Maine! It was a peaceful, quiet, secluded location where we spent time canoeing, fishing, and exploring the beauty of the Taunton Bay nature and wildlife. We found it to be a manageable distance from Bar Harbor and Acadia, the quiet side of Mount Desert Island, and Schoodic Peninsula. The amenities of the property were more than satisfactory and the invaluable insight into the area from the hosts helped make our stay memorable. Cannot recommend enough!

Clean, Quiet with Beautiful Sunsets
The location is very beautiful with gorgeous views when the sunsets. Extremely clean. Just a great house for a quiet and relaxing vacation. Acadia/Bar Harbor is a good 45 minute drive from house. Ellsworth with grocery stores and fast food restaurants 20 minutes. The one negative is indoor furniture is pretty uncomfortable and difficult to get on and off of since so close to the floor. Mark is great to communicate with. Easy check in/out.

Great place away from crowds
Property was great. Wonderful view of the Bay. Away from Bar Harbor crowd but a nice drive down there if you wanted to. Everything is easy to get to. We came a little early in the season, so a lot of places were just opening up. But it also meant less people! Property had everything you needed. I suggest boiling your own lobster in the back with water from the bay just like owner suggested. It was great. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfection
This was our second stay at Escape and we loved it just as much, if not more, than our first stay (if thats even possible!). This is a clean, extremely well stocked, beautiful property and location. It truly checks all the boxes both in terms of the property, location, and host. We couldnt find fault with anything if our lives depended on it! Plenty of kitchenware for us to cook what we wanted to, and the basic spices and plenty of utensils. The house is stocked with anything we could have needed and was cozy, welcoming and extremely clean. The location is quiet and private and all the info provided is great. I almost hate to rave so much about it for fear we may have trouble getting a spot next year!

Beautiful Bayside Retreat
My son and I had a wonderful week long stay at this beautiful, comfortable and quiet home right on the water. The herons, sea ducks and gulls fly close as they go around the point making it a superb location for viewing the local wildlife from either inside or outside of the home. In addition, we heard loon calls in the morning and evening on most days. We had an initial problem with contacting the owner to get the necessary information to check into the home. The owner called us back as soon as he could, and then compensated us for the inconvenience resolving the issue to our complete satisfaction. We would stay here again in a heartbeat anytime we come back to this area. Highly recommended!

Book It!
We LOVED this unique and lovely home perched above the water in a beautiful, quiet, peaceful area. It is immaculately clean, has everything one needs to be comfortable in every way, and is a place we'd love to return to when we visit the area again. The owner is kind and provides all kinds of useful, interesting information about the area. As said above, book it.

Peaceful vacation home with a million dollar view
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Escape. It was quite spacious for our family of six and had a gorgeous backyard. Love to spend more time at the Escape on our future visits to Acadia NP and Mt. Desert Island. The main living area has been recently updated and loved the amount of space we had including the convenience of cooking in the open kitchen.

Calm on the Bay
Mark's home was exactly as described. Also, Mark was very attentive to any issues that arised. The coffee maker at the cabin was not working our first morning there, but he got us new one. Our kids loved being on the water and finding creatures everyday. And the canoes were an added bonus. We would highly recommend Mark's cabin to anyone looking for a quiet time on the Bay.

Dream Location
This property lived up to our expectations and far, far beyond. The main draw was the feeling of seclusion and peace and quiet, which it delivered in spades. The view was amazing and the large windows allowed us to fully enjoy it even when it was a bit too chilly to be on the deck. Having our morning coffee and evening tea while looking out at the bay was like a dream. The house had every amenity we could possibly think of and was so comfortable. The new carpeting they put in this year was nice and plush. We enjoyed use of the canoe and made several meals easily with everything the kitchen was equipped with and we could have easily done anything we wanted with the many kitchen gadgets and pots and pans provided. It was an easy drive the large chain grocery stores and Walmart. The drive to Acadia was about 30-35 minutes and also very easy. There were plenty of eating options closer than Bar Harbor so the location worked out very well! It was an absolute favorite stay of ours!

Great location
Honestly, after spending a week at this property I could see myself living in Maine. Other than the wood stove being inoperable this place was perfect. The costal wildlife we were able to experience was wonderful. We plan on returning to this property as soon as we are able.

This was our third year at Escape and we are already looking forward to our next stay. The house is great, the location is so quiet and peaceful and the sunsets off of the back deck are our favorite time of day. Lots to do with Acadia and Bar Harbor close by or you can just sit on the rocks and enjoy the beautiful scenery!

Graduation getaway
Two friends on a trip with our boys and their buddy as a graduation gift to them. We had so much fun! They loved the canoes and swimming in the cove at high tide. Side trips to Acadia, Bar Harbor, and Schoodic were great, but we mostly enjoyed sitting in the 2 chairs below the deck, watching wildlife with the binoculars. The sunsets were spectacular! We saw 2 seals at the same time on our last day here. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay on the water in beautiful Maine!!
