"The 5 stars is based on the Expedia value and I arrived after dark. With current exchange I paid $46usd for a standard double room. The property has blemishes but it was a tremendous value (even before exchange). My experience was one night and I didn't soak in the public bath. But the residents appeared to enjoy it. I would definitely look at this property again if I'm in Nagahama."

"Near Station and food shop"

"Service was wonderful, as usual, at Toyoko Inn. Prompt & very friendly. Room was clean & comfortable. The breakfast is simple but delicious!"

"Staff was very helpful. Breakfast buffet was good and had a decent variety. Note that early check-in and late check-out are perks for Comfort Club Members, so they enforce the 3pm check-in time for everyone else. If that's important, you should sign up before you arrive. Located on the East side of the station. Most all of the stores and restaurants are located on the West side. Easy enough to go through the station even though Google Maps wants you walk all the way around. Likewise, there are sometimes taxis on the East side, there are always several on the West side. There are two restaurants on the first floor of the hotel. One looked like a large Izakaya chain. It was just okay. Didn't try the other one - Kitaya Kitchen."

"If you are looking for a remote lake get away in northern Otsu this is ideal. This location suits the out door adventure types who want to be away from Otsu city. The lake was an amazing place to swim. What also would be a Great Lake side party atmosphere and relaxation with a group of friends. Amazing cleanliness despite the overall facility being quite old. However rooms and common room air conditioned which was a life saver in the hight of a Japanese summer. The Hostel is not located near any shops and not close to the train station so be prepared to do some serious walking or better rent a bike whilst you are there."

"Extreme proximity to train station a priority. This means trains can also be heard from many rooms. Even though the soundproofing is good, this can be bothersome for a sensitive guest. Clean spacious room. Wonderful staff. Good breakfast."

"Shuttle was useful"

"Hotel is 3mins walk from the train station which was ideal as I was arriving into Omihachiman late at night. The room is clean and spacious. I booked a single room which is just next to the lift but I could not hear noise from they lift lobby. But I could hear the train if it was passing by the track next to the hotel. So the other reviewer was right that they could improve the sound proofing of the windows. I recommend the hotel for it's location. There is another hotel even nearer but New Omi is of higher grade. "
