We really loved this house. Communication with the owner was great; she answered all of our questions in a timely fashion. The house is tucked away in a wooded area, just off a little-traveled road. It was quiet and peaceful -- the perfect vacation house for us.
There was a lot of land around the house, which gave our six-year old plenty of room to run around. The barbecue was a nice bonus. And there was even a fire pit, which my son-in-law loved. There was plenty of room for our two cars.
The house itself was roomy and comfortable, everyone felt like we had our own little area, if we wanted privacy. There were four bedrooms, which was perfect for our family. Two full baths upstairs, including one en-suite bathroom. The kitchen had everything we needed for our stay. There is a bonus recreation room in the basement, with a TV and a bed. We did not end up using this room, but it would have been perfect for a teenager or young adult who wanted additional privacy.
The owner provided lots of information and material about the area, including recommendations about where to shop, where to eat out, and guides to some of the area's sights and activities. The large screen TV included cable and Netflix and the house had strong wifi.
The house was a short distance from both Franconia and Sugar Hill. There is a great breakfast place in Sugar Hill (Polly's Pancake Parlor) and two good food market's nearby. Larger markets, several pharmacies, Walmart and other stores are located in Littleton, about 15 minutes away. Littleton also has a lovely main street, some nice casual restaurants, good shopping, a great candy store and a movie theater.
The house is close to Franconia Notch State Park, The Flume Gorge, Robert Frost's house, Cannon Mountain, and is not far from Crawford Notch. There is lots to see and do in the area.
Overall, we had a great vacation and the house, and its perfect location, was a big part of our wonderful stay in the White Mountains.
