There is one person who influenced mine and Suzy’s love of the North Georgia Mountains, the acclaimed Toccoa River, and fishing on the Toccoa River, and that was my lifelong friend Kenny. Kenny and I spoke often of our dream. We wanted to build and share a cabin on the river in the North Georgia Mountains! So, we picked out a beautiful piece of land and, with excitement building we started making plans. We could hardly wait to break ground on our dream cabin, but then tragedy struck! Kenny was diagnosed with aggressive ALS in the fall of 2017. So, a change in plans! We would make the cabin wheelchair accessible. At least Kenny could roll out on the deck and watch me fish even if he wasn’t able to fish himself! Sadly Kenny passed away in April of 2018. He didn’t live to see our dream to come to fruition but, Suzy and I continued our mutual dream of a cabin in the North Georgia Mountains in Kenny’s name. That’s why we call it “Kenny’s Place.”
