ON THE WATER - Best Sand Beach in Door County!
The cottage doesn't look like much from the OUTSIDE. Please take a close look at the pictures on the inside. My mother and father built this Log Cabin in 1950 on the 'Quiet Side' of Door County near the borderline of the Whitefish Dunes State Park. As you look out the windows you will see beautiful Lake Michigan along with white birch trees, an assortment of evergreen trees, the sand dunes. The beautiful Sand Beach begins at your door. The sand on the beach is so clean that it 'squeaks' when you walk on it. You will absolutely love our beach! Relax and build sandcastles with your kids. The water is very clean and the drop off is very gradual - ideal for kids of any age.
The furniture in the log cabin has been updated and is very comfortable. The bathroom is very small BUT there is a "dressing room" adjacent with plenty of counter space and an additional sink and mirror. In September 2018 all the mattresses were replaced with new ones.

Family Getaway
This is a quaint, very rustic cabin in an excellent location.
This beach spot is just amazing- the sand, chairs to relax and read and watch the sunrise. The energy in the house feels relaxed and welcoming.
Fred was a gracious host and we will definitely be back.
Very old log cabin & very charming! Couple things could be improved upon but the location (walking distance to Whitefish Dunes State Park) was just awesome!! Thrilled we were able to bring our dog, as he totally enjoyed the beach and State Park!
The property was great. Private beach. A quiet little rustic lake front cottage. Property manager was great and responds quickly. Would definitely go again.
Literally the best place on the water. You have to see it to believe it.
We had the most peaceful wonderful time with our dogs.
Morning walks along the beach.
Coffee with the sunrise.
Wine with the sunset.
The cabin had everything you would need to enjoy a relaxing stay.
The owners are wonderful and were very accommodating and friendly.
Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
We already booked a week for next summer and will continue to do so every year .
We enjoyed our stay thoroughly. Most notable is the cabin is right on Lake Michigan with a beautiful vista above the lake on a sand dune. Very comfortable chairs are provided so you can enjoy the waves and clean air. The state park is 1000 feet away so it is really convenient for a hike in the woods. The cabin is, very spacious and comfortable with a newer modern washroom - really well equipped kitchen. Great views from the cabin of the lake. Property is also set in very wooded area. Great time. We hope to return.

Perfect remote get-a-way, with a couple thing to work on.
Pro’s: super remote, steps away from the Whitefish Dunes state park hiking trails, beautiful property on the beach, couldn’t ask for a better location. Hot water for shower, stove works great, nice seating inside & out. Cute family paraphernalia all over & it was like stepping back into time. Beautiful fireplace, plenty of bed space.
Con’s: this place is so lovely, but it’s in dire need of updating, especially the bed/mattresses. We were trying all the beds in the house like Goldilocks, but they just really need to be replaced. Everything else is old, but usable. When you’re at the beach it doesn’t matter, but if we owned this lovely little place I’d definitely update all of the kitchen supplies & all of the furniture & give the place a good scrub. Another huge con for us was no notice about the annual Mayfly phenomena. There were mayflies literally everywhere. Apparently this happens every year around mother’s day to late May, and we didn’t know anything about it. We were totally unable to enjoy the beach because of this & some of our hikes were spent swatting masses of mayflies who cling to your pants, shirts, anywhere. Luckily they don’t bite, but they really are bothersome. It would be great for the owners to let folks know this occurs each year, and when (mid-late May, for about 2weeks- says the lady at the nature center.)
We wouldn’t come back unless we read that the beds/mattresses had been updated (vacation must include good sleep for me!) however it really is a gem of cabin nestled in the heart of a wonderful place.
We were close to fish creek, egg harbor & the highlight for us was renting bikes just outside of the Peninsula State Park & biking their sunset trail. Bayside Restaurant & Wild Tomato were great places for lunch.
Location to get around Door County is great. We hiked at several of the main parks around Door County, two of them walking distance from this cabin - Whitefish Dunes State Park and Cave Point Park (which was our favorite). Beautiful sunrises. Great beach - feels like you are at the ocean. The place itself is small and rustic. It’s definitely showing its age, but it had all the amenities you needed (and a lot of great memories for the family). Hiost was great too. We enjoyed our weekend there.
We came to unwind in nature and got that beyond our wildest dreams! Staying in this family cabin filled with love and memories was magical. It’s rustic, yet good for a couple. Fred, u are the best host ever and meeting your brother by chance was also a gift. He told us about the Northern Lights, and saw them from the beach the next night! Thank u both! Every night we had a fire. One warm night, we built one on the beach in a new fire pit provided. Listening to the waves and gazing at the clear night sky was a perfect anniversary gift! Mornings and afternoons flew by enjoying the sandy beach and kayaking Lake Michigan on calmer days. 2 nights we enjoyed the short beautiful drive to the for dinner and fun. Loved it all!side f o
This little rustic cabin takes you back to a simpler time. It is well appointed with everything you need for a relaxing stay on the beach. My husband and I took our two dogs with us for a last-minute early fall long weekend in Door County. This cabin was perfect! The weather was unseasonably warm and sunny so we were able to say one last goodbye to summer on the beach. Fred is very responsive and friendly. He checked in on us via email a couple of times to be sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely stay here again.
We’ve been to door county a handful of times and feel so lucky we found this spot. It’s hard to beat being right on the beach. Our kids were in heaven and we brought our dog as well and he loved it! A perfect rustic cabin on the beach.
The cottage was perfect and as-described, with many cool artifacts from the property-owners family! The location was perfect for star-gazing and walking on the beach. It was chilly when we stayed, but I bet the swimming is fantastic during the summer! The property owner was very responsive and accommodating. Would absolutely stay again!
After leaving Chicago on a Friday afternoon, full of traffic frustrations it was amazing to drive-up to the cabin, get out of the car and see an amazing beach in front of me. True "wow".
The cabin is rustic and reminded me of summer days as a child at my parents cottage, the atmosphere of the cabin is awash with fond memories and joy. I loved my stay and it was a perfect get-away from the city for a weekend.
The beach is amazing, I could have sat and watched the water forever and walked up and down the coastline all day too.
The host is so nice, and was super easy and a delight to interact with.
Lovely beach getaway! The vintage cabin, full of love and memories, and beachside, dog friendly access made our stay. We would love to find our way back here in the near future.
As an fyi, this is not the right accommodation for those looking for a glamorous stay away, but if you appreciate the days of old and the love of family, this is the place for you. The upstairs loft / bedroom area is spacious, but the stairs are steep so keep that in mind. There is also a downstairs bedroom which is quite comfortable.
Fabulous location in the sand dunes with an unobstructed view of Lake Michigan and beach access right out the front door. The cabin has a lot of character and was comfortable enough for the two of us. We only used the downstairs bedroom...use of the upstairs loft would certainly be less comfortable and convenient. Its an old building and that shows - but its definitely a step up from camping. Indoor plumbing! Electricity! Wifi! And, I'll just mention this again...the location can't be beat for access to a gorgeous beach that we had pretty much to ourselves. We took our own kayaks and bikes. The water was too rough for kayaking on the weekend we were there, but the location to Cave Point Park would make that a fantastic activity during calmer weather. We were able to ride our bikes all the way to Cave Point almost exclusively on trails through Whitefish Dunes State Park which we accessed just a few hundred feet down the road from the driveway to the cabin. If you are looking for lots of restaurants, activity, and people this is not the spot for you. If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful getaway and you can tolerate a glamping type situation then I would definitely recommend that you stay at this cabin.

Beach is aabsolutely amazing
You really cannot beat the location of this property. The beach is private and absolutely amazing. My family and I had an amazing time at the beach which is directly outside the house. The house itself can use some help. Its definitely original and rustic. Memorabilia is everywhere in the house which is cool and entertaning to look at. The house is really an original log cabin literally built on cinderblocks. We definitely did not mind how rustic the cabin was. However, due to how old it is, its not very clean. Dust and cobwebs in the corners and on the many nicknacks. I feel that if I am paying to stay at a vacation property it should be clean. We also paid a decent price to have sheets and towels which seemed old and dingy. The beds and pillows seemed old and dingy as well. Speaking of beds, at night the bugs really come out in the cabin. Spiders were prevalent. Going to sleep at night and seeing spiders crawling on the ceiling in the loft and even on the couches downstairs is not my idea of a good nights sleep on vacation. In one of the bedrooms there was a trail of ants. Also did not use the coffee pot as it seemed dirty. I want to mention that I did not reach out to the owner regarding these issues as we didn't see them as quick fixes, and more related to the oldness of the cabin. Also want to stress how amazing the beach and location was, you really cannot beat it. If there had not been bugs at night I would have given 5 stars across the board. Don't mind it being rustic but cannot deal with bugs and lack of sleep on vacation. We actually left on the last night before going to sleep because it was going to be raining the next morning and we did not want to deal with another night of spiders and lack of sleep. If you don't mind the bugs and some dust this place will be great. I would come back just for the amazing beach.
My husband and I stayed at the Suchy cabin for five days a few weeks ago. If you're looking for a no-frills cabin on the beach this is it. The view, closeness to the water, and kayaking were the highlights of the trip. The proximity to Cave Point Park was an added bonus. Our dog loved running on the beach, and it was convenient to bring her along.
Fred was easy to deal with and kindly provided Door County recommendations at the time of booking.
This cabin is very funky and full of family memorabilia. Although the owner said there were new cleaners and new mattresses in 2018, the space was not very clean and the mattress was saggy. The owner was very casual and easy to deal with. The beach area was excellent, although a climb to and from it is necessary. There were ample cooking utensils and cookware. The neighborhood setting is quiet and walkable. Being able to rent kayaks on site was a real bonus.
It was a unique experience
Fred was an awesome host. He offered an early check-in and went above and beyond to provide additional Covid -19 cleaning supplies.
My husband and I appreciated the family history and heritage throughout the cabin.
