Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities
The place is pretty large and rundown and in an area that does not feel particularly safe. When I was first entering the room, suddenly three police cars came up and the cops went and started banging on a door of a nearby room. They then spent the next half hour conversing with a woman, trying to find out the whereabouts of her boyfriend. Not a good start to the evening.
Then it gets worse.
First, the room stank of cigarette smoke. Second, there was no telephone in the room. Third, the television did not work. Last, there was a problem with the door lock which kept on automatically re-locking every minute or so, editing a loud "click." This was not conducive to sleeping. I then asked the clerk if I could switch rooms, which thankfully he allowed me to do. This room, which was on the front side of the building (as opposed to the original room in the back), while extremely basic, was completely fine. Why was I put in this not-ready-for-primetime room at first, and not given the available working room? The only thing I can think of is that I had a dog. The motel advertises itself as dog friendly, so if that's truly the case, you shouldn't treat pet owners as second-class citizens.
Needless to say, I will not be staying at this motel again.
