"Hisoric building crammed with antiques and curios assembled by a previous owner over many years. Creaking staircases and corridors set one in mind of the 1950's. But the bedrooms are clean, modern and well-designed, the staff are super friendly, the pub is a lot of fun to be in, and the breakfast is very good. Plus the cathedral and school are on the doorstep...and free car parking is a boom."

"Just a night away in the New Forest for my birthday. Lovely little quirky pub. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable with decent amenities (tea, coffee, fluffy towels, nice toiletries, decent TV). We had booked to go out for dinner but if we come again we will try the pub menu as it smelled delicious. Only a couple of tiny gripes… one was that hair dryer cable was a little short for a plug point near a mirror in our room, and the other was that someone needs to Sharpie some numbers on the...

"The rooms are comfortable and had all the facilities you would want. The rooms are a little tired but with such a busy island you’ll only be sleeping and showering in it. Staff extremely helpful and welcoming including to our dog who they treated like royalty. Evening meal very good and breakfast which I paid for in advance was impressive. Great location. A little noisy at pub closing time but should be expected as I booked a hotel above a pub!!! Would recommend for all"

"I read the reviews of this hotel after booking and was a bit apprehensive but this hotel is clearly under new management. Staff so helpful and friendly breakfast was really tasty with fresh locally sources produce and I had the mixed grill in the evening (my go to meal), AMAZING! If I ever visit the IoW again I would happily stay at the Prince of Wales. "

"The Grapes Hotel is a piece from history, and historic hotel connected with historic events that hasn´t had the old doors and woodwork replaced with modern veneer. This is absolutely the real deal. This is the place where at least some of the Titanic crew partied the night away the night of April 9-10, 1912, just before they went on their voyage. And the pub looks like it did.
