"I stayed with friends and chose the Lion in Shrewsbury for the history and authenticity of staying in an original listed hotel. Our rooms were decorated nicely although the curtains in one room were tired. It must take alot to maintain a large hotel like the Lion. Bathroom not modern but clean with lovely white towels and toiletries and hot shower. All the staff were lovely, breakfast really good. Nothing was too much trouble. Its definitely not a glitzy hotel but the originality of the building...

"I was very pleasantly surprised at how clean and comfy this hotel was, needed a low cost last minute night. Free parking, the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful, the hotel was spotlessly clean and the beds were really comfy, tv had good selection of channels including Disney plus and Netflix, which was great for us as there was a bad storm at the time. We ate in the restaurant and food was served quickly and was perfect temperature and well presented, we had no disturbances during the...

"Wonderful! Such a friendly welcome on arrival. Food was a delicious selection and although there’s no cocktail list they readily made whatever we wanted. It’s an idyllic & quintessential place with the original features preserved & a modern touch. The night we stayed was so cold so the log fires in the bar/eating area was lovely and the bedroom was perfect. Everything was so comfy we could’ve happily stayed a lot longer! "

"A very nice stay. Though the rooms are above a pub, it was a quiet sleep. No on-site parking, but right across the street there is a municipal parking garage which wasn't too expensive. The Cathedral is a very short walk. The inn provided a nice continental breakfast. The pub scene was quite nice...the locals were friendly and welcomed this American."
