Disappointing
everything seemed great on check in however when we got to our room there was no hot or cold water (which was not great as I needed to have a shower, get ready for a party!) When I an down to reception I was told the water to the whole hotel was cut off. I would expect to have been told this on check in and at least offered drinking water.

I was taking the girlfriend away for our first getaway after the birth of our baby so wanted to treat her to a spa weekend for her to relax. Driving up to the hotel it looked perfect, a real country retreat with great views over the moorland but that was as good as it got. Our room wasn't quote ready which was our fault for turning up early so we settled in the bar for something to eat and a drink - The 'Moordie burger' was my choice but wasnt the greatest and certainly was homemade - probabl;y more a 'Birdseye' burger. We also went for a quick look at the pool and spa. The pool is more something you would see at a local leisure centre but not as clean or big, the jacuzzi wasn't open and the spa was more like two tiny rooms. With the girlfriend almost in tears + stating her bikini definately would be staying in her case for the full stay we went to check in. The room was small and not cleaned to the highest standard bnut we settled down. We then went for a shower in the very old looking bathroom suite, turned it on and it was cold so went to turn the temperature nozzle round and it came off in my hand - down to reception to be moved to a smaller room. which had marks all over the walls and a hole in the bathroom door where someone had obviously kicked it in frustration (maybe at the state of the room). The hotel is in perfect location for the peak district and all it has to offer but we spent as long away from the hotel as possible + i wouldn't recommend the hotel to anyone.

Great Hotel in the middle of the countryside.
Wonderful location and a very extensive and good breakfast. The pool and spa area were great too, in fact the spa was completely empty so had the whole place to myself :o) Staff were friendly and although there was a wedding on the next day the hotel big enough not to notice. This is a less modern hotel and some of the walls a little thin so some noise but if you are bothered by this then ear plugs will do the trick! It did not bother me and my friend and I had a lovely stay.

Dissapointing
I visited this hotel as I was attending a wedding reception here. The function room was lovely and the hotel is in beautiful surroundings. Great view from my bedroom although unfortunately that's as far as the good points go. My bedroom and bathroom were disappointing. Definitely in need of re decorating and the cleaning left a lot to be desired. Dirt on carpet, hairs and bits in the bath and mold around the dated tiles. Hairdryer didn't work, toilet was hard to flush as crammed against a corner box so I couldn't get my hand around the flusher properly. The extractor fan wad also very noisy. There was also a hole in my bed sheet the size of a 20 pence piece which in my opinion could not have been missed by the person making the bed! There was a lovely view but it was spoilt by the smell of drains when zI opened the window. No air con or bottled water in the room. I asked for my pre paid continental breakfast to be brought to my room and they got the cereal order wrong. This could be a lovely hotel with a re-vamp and staff that pay attention to detail. Until then, I wouldn't recommend it. When I pointed out the issues on check out I wasn't offered any kind of compensation whatsoever.

Lovely venue for a wedding reception!
Hotel staff were good but there was hardly anyone manning the bar and the reception staff had to be asked to serve ( by the residents) when there was a queue!

Stay somewhere else.
Our room was poorly maintained and must have been on top of the sauna. It was at least 95 degrees in the room on a very cool evening. The hotel was full, and we were not able to be moved. The staff's solution was a fan. The windows didn't open as we were on the ground floor. There was a hotel club next to the room that was very loud. The staff was average at best. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Moorside Grange Hotel
I stayed for one night in January 2012. The room was small but comfortable, temperature was nice and warm. I was a bit disappointed that we didn't have a view of the surrounding countryside, instead we overlooked roofs of other parts of the hotel. As it was only for one night it wasn't really a big deal. The staff were very friendly and helpful and kindly booked us a taxi into Disley for our evening meal. Breakfast the next morning was very nice with a good selection and it all seemed quite fresh. The gym equipment was very good quality and quite new. On the Saturday afternoon the gym was packed as it is open to non-hotel guests as well. We didn't use the pool but enjoyed the adult-only spa facilities downstairs including the spa pool, plunge pool, steam room and sauna. The sauna could have been hotter but the steam room was definitely steamy! The changing facilities, particularly the shower cubicles, are in need of an overhaul. All in all I enjoyed my one night's stay, made good use of the facilities and would definitely go back.

The Moorside Grange - time to chill
The staff were very friendly & helpful throughout our short stay, & scenery outside hotel is beautiful..I have stayed here before & the atmosphere is pleasant & relaxed. It was a very cold & windy day in early December when we arrived, & the weather was even colder, rainier & windier the next day when we left. I was pleased that we were allocated a twin room, which would have been cosy if it hadn't been so cold. We had to call reception to get the radiators working, but alas, only one of them actually worked! We were given a blow heater to supplement but that didn't work either! THE ROOM WAS FREEZING despite extra blankets on the beds. The tv was very small & old, & it was difficult to see from my bed. I had to stay in bed to keep warm. We enjoyed our swim very much & found it difficult to drag ourselves out of the lovely, warm jucuzzi, steam room & hot pool, - sheer bliss! Dinner mediocre in a FREEZING dining room, but the highlight of our stay had to be the FANTASTIC BREAKFAST. Whatever a person could possibly want was available - DELICIOUS & DELIGHTFUL! We were both pleased about that because quite frankly we were chilled to the bone!! Yes I will stay again in the future but will be very wary of visiting in the very very cold winter months. - C & A

Great Location but getting a bit tired
Stayed here whilst visiting relations in Marple. Hotel is in a fantastic location sat above Disley. Rooms are a good size, but the bathroom was tired and is in need of refurbishment (rm 145). Bath was badly stained and paint is peeling from the ceiling. The public areas were good with the exception of the breakfast area which needs updating but the choice of food was excellent. Even though there was a large wedding going on it did not affect our nights sleep as the room was far enough away that we didn't hear it. Overall a good stay but it is becoming a bit jaded around the edges.

A beautiful setting, but service needs attention
I stayed here for business, and it was adequate for the purpose, but service in the restaurant was by teenagers who mumbled, and service was a little erratic. I'd asked for a wakeup call of 7am, and one wasn't given which delayed a days business and left a bad feeling that the detail was being overlooked in what could otherwise be an exceptional hotel.

Moorside Grange Hotel
A comfortable hotel in a very rural setting considering its proximity to the Greater manchester area. Some areas getting a little tired so could do with some cosmetic updating. This applied to both rooms I stayed in over 2 visits. Nothing that would be considered unacceptable though. Didn't use the restaurant or other leisure facilities so cannot comment. The main bar was a little unexciting. Could maybe have a better selection of beers on offer considering the number and quality locally available.

Moorside Grange - good for walking
Just had my third stay at Moorside Grange. Generally happy - good walking, good spa, but very noisy wedding on the Saturday night. Hotel staff were slow to respond to complaints at midnight. Obviously no good night's sleep guarantee here!

Basically good value
The hotel is comfortable and the restaurant food generally of a good standard. Good value meal offers were available providing an inclusive price for a meal for two including a bottle of house wine. However we were not impressed with a bar meal in which the pie pastry was rock hard. However an immediate refund was given as soon as we complained. The only other disappointment were the sporting facilities. The so called pitch and putt course was merely a badly mown field with a few flags and absolutely no greens. The tennis courts were also in poor condition. On the other hand the swimming pool / spa area and squash courts were well kept. Overall a pretty good hotel offering good service and value.
