Better than a hotel for a big family
We had as many as 15 people staying overnight during our stay. Had to be a little creative with sleeping arrangements but we made it work. A well appointed kitchen made it nice to feed everyone at the house. Loved the location too.

We were unfortunately unable to stay at this property due to an illness that interrupted our travels. I did want to write though to share how communicative the owners were and how easy it was to keep it touch. Hope to cross paths again!

Great place for a family vacation!
This place is so great that we have stayed here two years in a row for our family vacation! The indoor and outdoor spaces are perfect and there is plenty of room for everyone. We had 11 family members stay including children ages 10 months, 8, and 12. Our 12 year old especially loved the family room upstairs for playing games and the master suite worked perfect for the family with an infant. Kirsten is a great host!

Perfect friends getaway location!
This was the perfect place for our girls getaway weekend! Beautifully decorated, plenty of room for all of us to hang out and catch up! Loved the outdoor spaces and sitting out by the waterfall was so relaxing! We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay in the area.

Family Trip to Kansas City
If there is a need to be in the Kansas City area and you are with a large group (we were 11 adults), then look no further than Barr Oak Lodge. The property is stunning with a house that is perfect in every way. Our host was spectacular and if we are ever in the area again, we know where we're staying. Highly recommend this home. We even did a private chef visit (chef Ryan) that was outstanding!

2023 Family Reunion

Celebrated a family birthday with family and friends. Was a great venue for the 10 of us. Very clean and spacious. Hot tub a nice amenity. Great kitchen. Private chef topped off the celebration. About 30 min drive to downtown KC activities.

August Family Vacation
This property was a beautiful location and filled all our needs for space, cleanliness, and options for outside activities. I was an inexperienced Vrbo renter, so there were more "house rules", a need to make kid-friendly for little ones who visited, as well as climbing steps inside and outside than I first realized. I appreciated how willing the host was to communicate during our stay.

Best stay ever!
We just finished the most amazing stay ever in this beautiful, private home with everything anyone could ask for in a luxury property. The grounds are well maintained with lovely flowering plants and shrubs as well as a flowing stream. . . inside the house is extremely clean and expertly decorated with thoughtful touches everywhere. . . the most special part of our stay was meeting our host who spent extra time on check-in teaching us about the house and local places to have fun. . . she even visited us & helped provide us with a vase then arranged all our roses for us. . . we will always have special memories of her kindness and look forward to many return visits.

Almost Perfect
The good: There was a LOT of good. The property is beautiful, just as described. We spent much of our time in the lovely outdoor seating area and enjoyed walks each morning through the rural-type neighborhood. Very nice. The kitchen is well stocked, there were several comfortable sitting areas, the bedrooms are spacious & beds very comfy. The ambiance is warm, upscale lodge. Thoughtful extras like an upstairs coffee station, tissue boxes throughout, and quality soaps and shampoos made it even better. The place truly deserves five stars. We had a wonderful time. The only thing we wish had gone differently was our interaction with the host. She was helpful and friendly before booking, but later seemed anxious and condescending-- in messages before arrival, during check-in, and in signage posted throughout the house. We didn't need to contact her again, so it didn't impact our stay. It really is a great place.

Wonderful place
We really enjoyed getting together at the house, great kitchen for big meals together, and it’s in a part of town with nice views and just outside the busy and more normal neighborhoods.

Beautiful home but host not great
We loved the location and the house, worked very well for our group. Communication with host made me feel she was angry or annoyed with my questions. She wasn’t that friendly in person either. Not sure I would want to go back there for that reason.
