So Disappointing
I have never left an unfavorable review on VRBO, but I must in this case. The pictures online do not depict the interior or exterior of this property. (The photographs online look like they were from a previous real estate "for sale"listing.) The back door was standing open when we arrived. The furnishings are not as depicted. We were unaware that the guest cottage was not air conditioned. The stove did not work. The house had not been cleaned--in weeks or months. There were dead bugs in the beds and cobwebs in the windows. Fridge was dirty. The septic system overflowed. The Host gave us a partial refund but not what we agreed upon. (We are stil waiting on that. VRBO is not helpful.) Half of our party had to leave two days early because of the sewer smell and condition of the house, and should be reimbursed for their hotel expense, to be fair. On the plus side, the location was great and the town is wonderful. The area is beautiful and the location is perfect for crossing the Gorge into Oregon with two bridges close by. This property has great potential, but this Host is not maintaining it. It is actually sad.
Charming Cabin and guesthouse Columbia River Gorge
Nicely appointed, attractive, comfortable, clean log cabin. Bright and sunny while surrounded by a forest. stayed here for a wedding, 3 nights. Near the cute town of Stephenson with many hiking and water activities. Would stay here again, no question!
The property matched the pictures and description. The beds were super comfy and it was overall very comfortable. The host was communicative when we checked in, and everything was very clean. It is in a beautiful area with lots of hiking around.
Our stay was very nice, and the cabin was as described, conveniently close to town but nestled in the quiet woods. The hot tub under the trees was a nice touch after a day on the river. *One note that I wished I would have considered when traveling with a group - the interior has an open-vaulted ceiling, so the only bathroom in the main house is open at the top of the vaulted ceiling and the smaller guest room with 2 twin beds is also open. This is issue for sound, light and privacy. It was not a dealbreaker, but was a little awkward. There is a 2nd bathroom located in the separate guest house. Otherwise we had a pleasant 5 night stay.
