About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire cabin to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Shoreline solitude, newly built, nestled between evergreens and Pigeon Hill Bay

Away from it all on the shores of Pigeon Hill Bay.

Enjoy time at Family Tides Cabin nestled amongst the evergreens on secluded back shore road. Built new in late 2023, completed just in time for the 2024 visitors to our area.

Start and end your day watching the tide rise and fall, changing every six hours and always bringing a new experience. You will hear the lobster boats in the distance and sometimes the sound of the fog horn on Petit Manan Island which is the home of Petit Manan Lighthouse.

Enjoy a boat ride to Petit Manan Lighthouse with Acadia Puffin Cruise which is located just a short walk from the cabin. Make sure to reserve your seat as
they sell out quickly even though offering three tours per day. Seals, birds, puffins and a wayward porpoise typically are seen on these trips. You will also see local lobster fisherman hauling their lobster traps. ( reserve at https://acadiapuffincruise.com ) Tell Tricia you are staying at Family Tides Cabin!

The cabin boasts a large, comfy covered porch off the main room with views of the bay from all angles! Hear the sound of the water lap against the shore lulling you into a relaxing state. Try a nap on the daybed (located in the main room) it will be just what the doctor ordered to escape daily life.
A good book, hot coffee and surreal surroundings should prove to be a great start to your visit in Down East Maine. As they say in Maine, “the way life should be”.

The cabin offers two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with a
double bed.
A full shared bath with a large shower and double bowl sinks. We provide towels and bed linens/blankets etc. We also offer hand soap at all sinks and shower gel for your use. There is a half bath located off the main living area as well as a laundry area with a full size washer and dryer.

The kitchen offers full service for four guests along with cooking utensils, silverware, bowls, pots/pans and most gadgets required for your stay. A full size fridge has an ice maker and the stovetop/oven uses gas. We also provide a dishwasher. (Please see our amenities for a full list)

The main living area has a large breakfast bar with five comfy stools. A small smart television is in place for the morning news/weather. A large table is located against the back wall if you prefer regular chairs.
The living room has a couch and two chairs facing the windows/french doors which overlook the bay.
Tucked in the far corner of the open living area is the quaint day bed with perfect views of the bay (which I mentioned earlier regarding a great napping place).

The house is located on Back Shore Road just off Pigeon Hill Road in Steuben, Maine. Just over an hours drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Acadia at Schoodic Peninsula is a shorter drive, approximately 40 minutes. Both offer hiking trails through the forest or rocky shorelines. Bar Harbor hosts many restaurants and shops; a great place to spend the day.
If you prefer not to travel, we have several hiking trails within a five minute drive of the cottage. Pigeon Hill is a great hiking experience with several different levels of hiking trails. An easy walk up Pigeon Hill is the perfect place to take photos once you crest the top….great views! Petit Manan Point also offers easy trails through the woods, or on the shore. Typically you won’t see other people, but you may see the birds, porcupines, rabbits, deer, and more wildlife along the way. Definitely worth packing a picnic and getting in the sunshine and fresh air.

The neighboring town of Milbridge is a small coastal town which offers
everything required for your stay and more. It is approximately 8 miles from the cabin. It offers two banks, a grocery store, a General Dollar Store, a convenience store with gas, a liquor store, a breakfast/lunch restaurant, a lunch/dinner/pub restaurant as well as several great take-out restaurants. A library, medical center, post office, a chiropractor, a small museum and the Schoodic Arts Gallery just to name a few places. One stop shopping for sure.

The bay is very tranquil and most days remains calm. It is the perfect place to launch a kayak/canoe or paddle board.

If you are in search of peace and quiet with a view, this is the place for you! Inquire now and book quickly in order to secure the 20% discount offered for the first three bookings!

A Perfect Stay
We had the privilege of staying here for August. The house totally works but come here for the location: right on the water, with eagles and osprey hunting every day, not to mention the occasional seal, and regular deer visits. The area does not have a big tourist infrastructure; for us, that was fine, but you have to make your own fun. Definitely visit the nearby Schoodic Peninsula.

WOW!
We cannot sing the praises of this property loudly enough! The view is so peaceful, the sounds of the bald eagles was a first for us, the seals sunbathing on the rocks, the cleanliness of the property, the fully-stocked kitchen - all of these things led to one of the most relaxing vacations we have had in a long time. The information about grocery stores and the typical "tourist" information provided by the property manager was so helpful in planning out the activities for the week. Just two things you need to know - make sure you have a pass to get into the parks - the park rangers check for them! - and it is a bit of a drive to get back to places to shop so ask the property manager - she is a wonderful source of information!

The perfect coastal Maine experience!
Amazingly beautiful, quiet and relaxing coastal Maine gem! The cabin is immaculate and the perfect size. It is modern but still has that nature/cabin feel. Well equipped and stocked with everything you need. Positioned perfectly on the edge of the ocean bay. You rarely hear a sound other than nature and a few lobster fishermen’s boats. So relaxing to sit on the porch to watch sunrises, sunsets, the tide rise and fall, birds and lobster boats. We especially enjoyed watching a pair of seals feed just off bank each evening. Very secluded and private but close to quaint local towns and so many Maine experiences. We hope to return again!!
