Welcome to the Sterling Escape! Great location in the heart of Sterling, Alaska, directly adjacent to the Moose and Kenai Rivers. Izaak Walton State Recreation site is also just across the street. Just 2.5 hours from Anchorage, Sterling in centrally located on the Kenai Peninsula, between the mountains of Cooper Landing and the city center of Soldotna, which has all your amenities, breweries and resturants...! The Sterling Escape is a wonderful home base, with modern amenities, for all your Alaska adventures.
The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you may need during your stay. Both bedrooms feature king beds, that can be split into two twins, upon request. There is an additional queen sized murphy bed in the living area. Our outdoor area comes equipped with a grill and plenty of comfy outdoor seating. In the garage, you will find all the extras for your Alaska activities: coolers, rain gear and even additional fishing set-ups! The whole Sterling Escape is yours to enjoy! Relax on the back deck after a day of Alaska Adventures, enjoying your favorite beverage and grilling some freshly caught fish. If you’re up for more outdoor fun, sit around the firepit also located in the backyard.
In the garage you will find everything you need to fish on your own, at many of the Kenai River access points nearby. You can literally walk from the house to the Kenai River to fish or relax by the water. In the garage you will find: hip waders, rods, reels, nets, tackle, along with coolers, coffee mugs and some other items you might need to complete you packing for your day of fishing! There is also a chest freezer in the garage to store your fish until you depart.
We are local Alaskans! We operate a sport fishing guide service, ChasingTales Alaska, on the Kenai and Kasilof Rivers all season long. We will be nearby to help with any of your needs. The town of Sterling has some amenities including small stores, restaurants, gas stations and cafes. For grocery shopping, you will want to visit those in Anchorage on your way, or head down to Soldotna.
Use the Sterling Escape as your home base for all your activities on the Kenai Peninsula, as you can comfortably road trip to most of the popular destinations. If you want to adventure in the mountains, head 30 minutes east from Sterling Escape, back towards the town of Cooper Landing. Here you will find the beautiful Upper Kenai River and the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. Experience world-class hiking in the Chugach Mountains or popular scenic floats through the mountains and the wildlife refuge. For your ocean fishing experience head 1 to 2 hours in either direction: east to Seward or west to Anchor Point or Homer.
