The quiet location of Cameron Cove having the beautiful water views and dynamic sunsets allows you to relax, chill and enjoy your St John visit beyond understanding. Having the beachfront water being able to swim or snorkel at your leisure enhances your holiday and relationship with St. John's national park goals.
This home was perfect for our needs. We were 2 couples. There were 2 bedrooms w/ocean views and 2 baths. The kitchen was well set up for us to cook our dinners. We found that the snorkeling from our beach was as good or better than other places on the island. I would definitely recommend this property!
The pictures don’t do this home justice. Well appointed home good size kitchen, refrigerator, new washer and dryer, comfortable living room and dining room combo with a large nice covered porch overlooking the trees to the bay. Very clean and comfortable For our party of three adults (two parents and one teenage daughter).
Appreciated the beach chairs on the beach and available at the house. They included beach towels, overall a great stay although it is at the very end of the road on East End about a 40 minute drive to Cruise Bay, 10 to 15 minutes to Coral Bay with a couple of excellent restaurants.
This house captures everything special about St John. The view is spectacular and the location is wonderful. It was windy during our visit but the snorkeling and paddleboarding in the bay outside the house was still amazing. We snorkeled at all the usual places during the week and the fish were the best at Pelican Rock. The house was very quiet in the evening - you can hear the ocean and birds. Since we are early risers the construction next door did not bother us - there are two new hosues be built nearby.

One of the best locations on the island
We spent a fabulous week at Cameron Cove. The cottage has a great floor plan, with both bedrooms having their own bathroom and access to the deck and sea view. The huge partially roofed deck is a great feature and we spent most of our time out there, just taking in the view and watching boats go by and looking for turtles in the bay. The bay has it's own young reef which was teaming with life. Pelican rocks are a short swim away, as is Hansen Bay. 2 minute walk to your own little beach, which is virtually private. Great snorkeling. Wish we could have stayed longer - would book this house again without any hesitation.

Nice, but be careful
Be careful with this place. It is really far away from everything and driving is challenging in St. John. The nice sand beaches are 25 to 40 minutes from this location. There were several broken items when we were there, dishwasher, closet doors, etc. Unless you really want to be away from everything and I mean really far away, you might want to pick another place.
Additionally we were not warned / informed of any of the broken items and non appeared to be scheduled to be fixed while we were there. We won't be going back there.
This property is all about the location overlooking Coral Bay and beachfront access to a great snorkeling site.
Unfortunately, it is our 4th stay at Coral Bay, and the home itself was not nearly as nice as the other homes we have stayed in. It reminded us of an old hotel that had not been updated and kept up real well. Furniture looks worn, old looking mirrors, rusting washer and dryer. etc.
So, I felt like it was a little over priced compared to what we had stayed in before at Coral Bay, but we did love the proximity to the beach. If it wasn't for that, I would have been upset at the condition of the house for the money we paid. I have stayed in cheaper places when I travel to save money, but when I spend more I expect more.
Paradise, heaven on earth, what else can I say??!!
The house is perfect and the location is stunning! Gorgeous views of Hansen Bay and the mountains that surround you. Short drive to Coral Bay where there were several options for food and beverages and a nice market. Skinny Legs was a favorite and the food was really good, drinks even better!
We had everything we needed to enjoy 5 days on St. John. The ocean is a short walk down a path from the house and the reef starts immediately after you enter the water. Pelican Rock, a favorite for dive boats and snorkeling trips, is just yards away and the diversity of fish, corals, sponges and invertebrates is impressive.
We went to other snorkeling spots on the Island but the reef right outside the house was the most spectacular. This location is at the very east end of the island and it is much more quiet out that way but it’s close to many great beaches and other snorkeling spots as well. I loved the nice breeze on the deck overlooking the bay and especially loved the hummingbirds that visited us every morning. The house is very well equipped both for cooking, sleeping and playing!
We can’t wait to visit again. Thank you Linda!
The house was 100 feet from an active construction site. Work started at 7 am and woke us up. There was no mention of this in the listing. Attempts to reach the owner by myself and VRBO were unsuccessful although she received the messages. Less important, the dishwasher was broken but once again no explanation. Checkout is 9 am. As usual no mention of this in the listing. I would not recommend the listing if for no Tver reason than the owners unresponsiveness and misrepresentation
The property has great views. The property manager did great job helping us to locate the house since we arrived late.
Overall very nice place to stay.
Cameron Cove never fails to deliver great views and a terrific private beach. We were literally just floating 20 yds offshore and three green turtles decided to hang out with us, often eating just below or surfacing within 4 feet. This went on for 15-20 minutes. Magical!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Camerons home on the East End of St John USVI. It is a private island paradise with its own beach that has excellent snorkeling right there off the beach. Also the wide comfortable porch/deck looking over Coral Bay was our go to spot for meals and just lounging on the 3 chais when we weren’t out enjoying the beauty of the island and its water.
Thalia Reyes, our contact person who is close by at Hansen Beach was extremely helpful in every way. Thanks to Thalia and the Camerons.
First, the photos do not give this place justice. The deck overlooking the cove is huge, with room for a dining table, multiple lounges and a grill. The rooms were big, as was the living area, but we didn't spend a lot of time inside. The view was one of the best I've ever had from a rental. Just amazing.
The walk to the beach was easy, up and down, but steep. There are hand rails, with steps of concrete and stone. I've got bad knees and handled it fine, if not slowly. The beach is rocky, but that was OK. We had our water shoes. There was a large turtle which swam back and forth in front of us each time we were at the beach. The snorkeling at either end of the beach was amazing, with lots of sea urchins and coral. To give you an idea, large yachts pulled into the cove each day to moor and spend the day or two, proving its beauty. The caretaker, Thalia, was equally amazing, helping us with everything we needed, a text away. We will be back!!!
We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Cameron Cove. The caretaker was very friendly and helpful and the house provided everything we needed. We hope to return again soon!
It is a clean and nice cottage, great location with a wonderful view of the bay from the balcony. The kitchen was extremely well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, spices and utensils needed to cook meals at home. However the outside furniture were missing pads and there wasn't any type of sun screen for shade which made sitting there in the afternoon uncomfortable. The inside wicker furniture had plywood as a base that made them stiff and uncomfortable. The cable feed was frequently interrupted that caused it to freeze or pixelate. The property manager was easy to reach, very helpful, and providing good information. We all agreed we would definitely stay here again.
It’s always an exciting drive out to the East End. Once you get there it’s peaceful, and idyllic. This was our third time on St John and second stay at this house. The location is hard to beat, and the layout means all rooms have deck access and water views. There is a new gas grill, fridge, dishwasher, blender, and a freshly painted deck, all of which we appreciated. The coral in many of the bays has suffered since the hurricanes but still some nice sections here and abundant sea life – plenty of fish, rays, and turtles. Snorkel in your own reef every day before breakfast! It’s a short drive to the north shores if you want a wide sandy beach and change of scene. We visited previously in the drier months in spring and summer, but this trip we enjoyed lush green scenery and wildlife (bug spray needed for sitting outdoors early morning and dusk). Communication with the owner and housekeeper is easy, they are very responsive and helpful. Would not hesitate to book again.
This was our second stay here. Great vistas and the wonderful semi-private beach. Well appointed kitchen where we cooked most of our meals. We love the East End and this property is one of the reasons why.
My husband and I are veteran visitors to St John, and wanted to stay on the quiet east end, foregoing the spectacular vistas found in the hills for the easy beach access that Cameron Cove had to offer. We were delighted at the lovely view that we had from the deck. We ate all our meals outside on it. We really appreciated the privacy of the location.
It was literally a 2 minute walk downhill to the beach, perhaps 4-5 minutes uphill to return. While the path itself is easy to navigate, it would be more pleasant if the abundant plant life were cut back somewhat. Great snorkeling, and fun to watch from the deck, the variety of boats that came and went.
It was quite warm during our July stay, high 80s, so we appreciated the A/C in the bedroom at night, and brought fans out to the deck to keep us comfortable as we lounged there.
Thalia was incredibly responsive to any and all of our questions, which we very much appreciated. I suspect we will be back, but perhaps during the cooler months!

House was not what it seemed
We were happy to find the house as GPS to this address takes you to Hanson Bay Beach. The house is in a beautiful remote location with easy access to a beach perfect for snorkeling and kayaking. Unfortunately we were forced to leave early due to unexpected insects for which I am not permitted to name.
We asked the owner for a refund but she said she never had an insect problem.before. Her exterminator said otherwise.
My husband, children (9 & 12), and I spent 6 days at Cameron Cove. STJ is just what we needed after a COVID winter on the east coast. We arrived after sunset & were greeted with an awesome view of boats in the bay all lit up. When we woke up the next morning, we couldn’t believe the view. It’s stunning.
Our favorite part of every day was enjoying breakfast on the deck, watching the boats, and also the wild donkeys and goats frolicking on the shoreline and the properties below. The house faces west, making the sunsets over the hills of Coral Bay the second favorite part of our days.
The house is tucked in the East End of the island at the very end to Rt. 10. It is a little bit of a hike. You will 100% need a 4WD vehicle, and I highly recommend a Jeep Wrangler if you can . That said, the drive is worth it. That end of the island is really a gem.
The shoreline is accessible via a path from the side of the house. Its steep and a little overgrown. I recommend wearing water shoes if you use it. The shoreline is beautiful and made up of rocks and coral which are very fun to climb and to snorkel from. Many snorkel charters anchor out to snorkel Pelican Rock, which you can easily swim to from the shoreline (just beware of the urchin).
If you want sandy beach, Hansen Bay Beach is 3-minutes drive. For a donation, you can enjoy the beach and all of their toys, including paddle boards and kayaks. It was a perfect place for our family - very relaxed and fun and no need for spending lots of money on renting those items. It’s a special place and just as nice as the other hot spots on STJ.
We visited in April and the weather was perfect. No need to use the air conditioning. The fans and open sliders kept us comfortable. Thalia, the housekeeper, was very helpful and kind, and always very responsive. We didn’t need to call her much, but she picked up immediately when we did.
The house is 100% what you expect of a beach rental in this price range and in this location. It is remote island living, so you need to adjust your expectations. It could use some updating, but it's clean, safe and comfortable. Overall, we loved staying here and would go back!
Some advice:
- Book a late afternoon/evening return flight, or plan to stay on STT the night before.
- Stop at CostULess on STT for water &food, and Starfish Market in Cruz Bay for groceries before coming out to the east end.
- Highly recommend pre-booking ferry with LoveCity Ferries in advance of your trip.
The location of the property was great for isolation and relaxation and the views were amazing! The access to the private beach was great and we snorkeled and paddle boarded right off the beach several days. We saw a sting ray, a turtle and lots of colorful fish. As other reviews had mentioned, the beach was rocky but there is a small spot of sand to put some beach chairs down so it was not bad. We did go to the North shore beaches: Maho, Cinnamon Bay and Trunk Bay which were beautiful soft sand beaches about 25 minutes away but they were definitely more crowded so you need to go early to get a parking spot.
The view off the back deck of the house was amazing and the nightly sunsets were beautiful! There were board games provided and we played Yahtzee every night as a family. It was lots of fun!
The only cons for the house were that the water pressure was pretty bad. The shower was a trickle and it made washing dishes a longer chore. There was no bath soap or other toiletries provided so we had to run to the store to grab a bar of soap on the first day. Also the path to the private beach was pretty overgrown. As another review mentioned, the outdoor shower area could use some clean up but it still worked for getting sand off shoes etc. We ended up using the outdoor hose by the front door as it was easier to rinse snorkel items off with using that. But other than those items, the house was great and we would stay here again!

Great views combined with beach access
Best of both worlds - a great view over the bay combined with quick access to a beach with good snorkeling. The house is remote and private, which is exactly what we were looking for.
The cottage overlooks the inlet that flows into Coral Bay from a location far out on the east end road and has stunning views- turquoise water, boats coming and going, magnificent sunsets, and star filled nights. The setting is tranquil and close enough to the water that you hear the waves lapping against the shore. Linda is very responsive and helpful and Thalia, who oversees the property locally, also stopped by to make sure everything was fine. We were looking for week of relaxation and Cameron Cove delivered.
