Well-appointed cottage in central location
We stayed in Union House - no. 3, the Superior Cottage. This is a well-appointed, 2 double bedroom place in the heart of St Columb Major. Just seconds from the Co-op, pubs and village shops, it’s also a great location from which to explore the beautiful surrounding Cornish area. Around 15 mins from Mawgan Porth, Bedruthan Steps and lots of other local spots not to be missed.
What we liked: good facilities, well-equipped kitchen; nice living space downstairs and both bedrooms are a good size with double beds. Great location in easy walking distance to everywhere in the village.
What we didn’t like so much: No dedicated parking and not easy to find a spot in St C due to lots of double yellow lines and time restrictions. We ended up down Union Hill; great to be so close to amenities - but this makes it noisy with unloading vehicles for the Co-op and early morning traffic; overlooked in all windows - especially the lounge which faces onto a public walkway and no net curtains meaning everyone can see in; this aspect also looks out on the town’s public toilets; no freezer compartment in the fridge which we would have found useful; and downstairs smelled a bit musty though upstairs was fine; the dining table is table and you cannot fit 4 people around this and eat without banging elbows.
Having said all of that, we would stay again.
