Historic Murphy's House

This is not your ordinary vacation rental!
Our home is located in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in St Augustine, the Historic Abbott Tract. The Historic Murphey House is a wonderful two story house that was built between 1885 and 1894, the details set it apart from the rest. Our house features original hardwood floors throughout, antique brass chandeliers, original door hardware, beautiful antique furniture, and a claw foot tub. The centerpiece in the kitchen is a very rare and working 1926 electric stove which features two ovens, and multiple burners. All the charm of a Bed and Breakfast with an affordable price. This is your chance to experience St Augustine the way it is meant to be experienced.

We have also just finished a complete exterior renovation so please book and enjoy this special place. The house is equipped with central heat and air conditioning to keep you comfortable, and it is set up to sleep up to 6-8 people, if you have the larger group of 8, the master suite can be split into two bedrooms with a twin bed and trundle bed underneath. The kitchen is also fully equipped with all utensils, dishes, etc., dishwasher, refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, and a Breville Toaster oven. A full-sized Washer and Dryer are also onsite to help make your family trip a bit easier. Parking is also easy as there is an on-site driveway that can easily fit 3 mid-size cars.

Wireless internet is onsite, with internet TV devices such as ROKU available on the TVs. There is also a PlayStation and DVD player available for viewing/playing as well.

Please enjoy your stay in our wonderful home, and take in everything Saint Augustine has to offer, without worrying about parking!

The host was as nice as the house. It was charming and had everything you need. It’s an old house so it has lots of sqeaks. There were 8 of us. More suitable for 6 adults or 3 couples. We all enjoyed our stay and wrote in the guest book. We would go back again!

So convenient, right in the middle of historic district
The historic house was in a perfect location for walking to several attractions and restaurants within the historic district. We enjoyed walking to the Old Jail, St George Street, and the hop on hop off trolley. Our host, Christian, was attentive, and the place was very clean.

What a lovely house! Our group of three stayed here on a mother daughter weekend and connected with 12 other ladies. The location is awesome and the house is great. Walkable to all of the downtown attractions. Comfy beds, great kitchen and the communication with the owner was quick and very accommodating. I would highly recommend, and I would stay here again!

Girls get a way
The house is very cute, however we couldn’t find any dish towels, there were no instructions on using the fireplace or if it worked or not. The house is very old and therefore was very cold, it took a day to get it somewhat comfortable, as we happened to book the coldest weekend of the year. It is very convenient to St. George St, and walkable to many places.

This property is located within walking distance of everything. Trolley station is only a couple blocks down from the house if you prefer to explore the city that way. Enough parking for a full size truck and SUV. I would stay again.

Perfect place to be to get that quaint St Augustine feel!!
This beautiful house was perfect! We enjoyed our stay so much and definitely will stay here again! This house was perfectly furnished and very clean. The walk to the downtown area was very short and the perfect distance away to have a little more peace and quiet. We never even drove the car once we arrived until it was time to come home. We enjoyed sitting on the porch every morning drinking our coffee together as a family. The charm this beautiful house holds is amazing!! We loved it!!

All in all, this was a nice place to stay. The location was an easy ten minute walk to the downtown (we were all adults and the walk was along a rather busy street, so parents of young kids should keep that in mind). The place is old, but all the things that mattered most to us were great--comfortable beds, ceiling fans in all rooms, nice bedding and lots of towels. Our one complaint was, there weren't a lot of supplies--no hand soap, no coffee (but a nice coffee maker), minimal staples. Overall, we had a great stay.

I have to admit when I first walked in ---- which wasn't a guarantee because I lost my email w/ the door code...contacted the owner (Christian T.) - who was quick to respond (Thank you again!)...then found the original email, too, hah ---- . . . When I first walked in I noticed what appeared to be large gaps around door frames to the outside and feared we were going to share the space with bugs. I was totally wrong. The home is super clean, not a bug to be found (and never saw one even late at night!). For an almost grown family of 4, there was so much room. Comfortable. Spacious. Overall really very quiet - despite being on a hot corner for traffic. LOVE LOVE LOVE the 1926 oven in the kitchen - and we used it. Made 3 batches of cookies - first batch was the experimental handful of cookies, then we rocked out two more batches. The kitchen seemed to have everything needed in order to cook a nice meal. Loved the bedrooms and bathrooms. Loved the furniture. The high-backed pink chair in the corner was great for me as I'm fairly tall, and I had no problem falling asleep in it. I'm also fairly heavy so was wondering how the staircase would take me --- not a single "creak", very solid! Easy to park the car and load / unload, recommend backing in of course, since it's a high traffic corner. This home is definitely on or short list of places we'll look for availability in again as we like to hit up St. Augustine 2-3 times a year. Really great place.
