If you have a large group, please send in a inquiry*** As featured on CBS's show "Staycation," “La Casa de Joy” is our magically whimsical 1-bed, 2-bath waterfront luxury villa on Lake Travis. This home has been also been featured on HGTV’s Straw with Style, Designing Texas, and was on the cover feature for Natural Home Magazine. La Casa de Joy is also the tallest straw bale home in Texas. The home is extremely architecturally unique, with 40 foot ceilings, hand-painted tiles imported from Pisa, gemstones hand-placed in the stone-flooring by Tibetan monks (no...seriously,) and hawk feathers and more gemstones throughout the straw bale foundation. You will never find another home with more intention than this one. The villa has a queen sized bed, a twin-sized pull out sofa chair, a twin daybed, and a queen-sized lux-inflatable mattress can be added as well. This home is perfect for a romantic getaway, corporate retreat, honeymoon, private retreat, or to rent as a main gathering space for your wedding/event/retreat.

Walking through the front entrance, you are struck with a gorgeous view of the entire property, gardens, & a koi pond. Enter the villa and feel the tranquil energy as you walk the soaring entry way into the downstairs main living area featured with a cornerstone fireplace, sunken level lounge, & fully equipped chef’s kitchen. Upstairs you’ll find a stunning large open concept master bedroom with queen size bed, study, master bath with dual sided fireplace, and a spiral staircase leading up to the 3rd floor meditation room & viewing tower. Open the back door to an epic, large-covered porch with a fireplace, porch-swing, and gorgeous views of the lake and sunset. “La Casa de Joy” was originally built by an artist & healer J. Long, and her creativity & intention can be felt throughout the entire property.

Enjoy on-site amenities: private yoga, private personal training, and massage. Rent ON-SITE kayaks, Stand-up paddle boards, or canoes. We also provide Local Austin coffee, all-natural body products, wifi, private access to the lake (for all guests), lake swimming, sunset views, walking trails, a small waterfall, fire pit, multiple decks to relax on, as well as the abundant nature-filled peace and tranquility.

Amazing stay
Pictures of the house are beautiful but it is absolutely amazing when you see it in reality . We were in awe with all the decor and charm . Wholeheartedly enjoyed every minute of our stay !

One of the Best Stays in the Austin area!
We had such an amazing time this last week. We were using the property for a creative day retreat for artists & we were incredibly inspired by the location and the home itself. The property was incredible & was above and beyond our expecations & the home has so much character. Travis the owner has some of the best communication we've experienced with VRBO and we will absolutely be back!

Great Property for small gatherings
We had booked this place for a getaway weekend + a small gathering of friends (25-ish ppl). This place was great! We were a bit worried about having to be outside (in the August heat) but we ended up having plenty of room inside for people to hang, mingle, and eat. The property manager was very communicative and very helpful throughout the process (even while onsite). I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a nice Hill Country get-away!

Lovely House & Property!
All in all this was a great experience! There's so much room to explore and relax. We didn't know the water levels were so low that the dock wasn't even touching the water & it wasn't deep enough to swim, which was the main reason we wanted to be there so that was disappointing. I'm sure it's so lovely when the water is higher.

Relaxing Getaway
We stayed in the Casa De Joy which is a little more secluded from the smaller cabins. Nice house with lots of eclectic character on beautiful property with easy access to the water. House is clean with all the basics you would need, including full kitchen. Tons of windows for great views (no blinds or curtains in the upstairs bathroom FYI). Water is a short walk down a hill with some non-motorized water toys for rent. Cute winery just a few minute drive away, and maybe 15-20minutes from some restaurants which are easy to get to. Owner was very responsive to messages and accommodating. Would recommend this property if you want a few days away to relax in a calming environment.

Beautiful but could be so much more...
Unique & beautiful inside & out but needs some updating. Cleaning fee charged but required to gather towels/linens & place by washing machine & carry out trash. Light switches in odd places. Labeled but not convenient. Trees need trimming to allow view of lake. Now on the upside...place was very peaceful, bluebonnets were so pretty. Lake Travis was beautiful. Patio and view are awesome. Todd was pleasant and helpful.

Mystical Romance
My wife and I stay at many properties. This is the most unique, instantly comfortable, chill vibe house we’ve enjoyed so far. This is a house with a personality, a very cool, laid back personality. Yes, it’s awesome to have river access for paddleboarding on the Pedernales. Yes, it’s awesome to have the Stone House vineyard 2 minutes down the road. Yes, it’s awesome to have several great restaurants in the area. All the big pluses you’d expect from a quality VRBO experience. That said, we didn’t wanna leave the house! Deep tub. Two indoor fireplaces. Outdoor fireplace built into the stonework porch. Terrace after terrace of live oaks leading down to the river. Hot tub perched among the live oak canopy. 3rd story yoga tower balcony also perched amongs the live oak canopy?!? It’s weird that I just wrote those words, but it’s true! In addition to the excellent property, Travis is an equally excellent host. Responsive, informative and attentive, he truly added enjoyment and peace of mind to the overall experience. Easy five stars. Kudos and thanks, Travis. We usually don’t repeat visits to properties because there are so many new ones to try, but in this case we’ll eagerly make an exception.

Couples Getaway
We had stayed here once before and loved it. This time, the area was much busier. The house next to the bedroom had people celebrating past midnight and played a game like cornhole but with metal rings. That clinking noise went from about 3pm until after midnight. I was so glad we weren't staying another night. As beautiful and peaceful as the house and grounds are, the surrounding areas are not. We wanted to see the deer more but that didn't happen due to how busy things were. For the price, we will not be doing it again. When paying quite a bit of money for two nights, it was not worth it unfortunately.

Immaculate, beautifully decorated getaway
From the moment you step on the property you are surrounded by a sense of serenity and beauty. Entering the house, you are immediately struck by the classic southwestern architecture and carefully selected decorations that span cultures from the world over. Stepping out the back door, you walk onto a back porch offering a view of the landscaped hillside that slopes down to the Padernales River. Further down the hillside are two different patios, one stone and one wood, offering their own charming views of the river and amenities. Kayaks, standup boards and canoes provide an opportunity to paddle on the Padernales downstream to the Colorado River or upstream to the Padernales canyon, each with its own unique landscape. All of this is located far away from the city. This place was clearly designed to offer a peaceful getaway and it succeeded beyond our expectations.

Gem with great energy
I loved this property. It is not furnished like many rentals with cold cheap thrown together furnishings. It is furnished lovingly by someone with heart. It feels like a home. The architectural details are wonderful. The surroundings on the property were lovely. If you love quirky interesting places, you will adore this property. There were so many charming places to sit or eat or simply read a book. I was there a week and never took advantage of all of them. The manager of the property was very easy to communicate with and very responsive. I highly recommend this property for couples. Although note that the many beautiful windows have no coverings and there are several other rental properties very near. The dock on the river was lovely and there were candle holders all over. The kitchen was well appointed and the place just had overall good vibes.

A fabulous refreshing stay!
Thanks so much for a wonderful stay in your beautiful property! Todd is the ultimate host- making us feel so welcome & comfortable. Our every need was thoughtfully planned for. It was so great to find dish and laundry soap, shampoo and shower gel, toilet paper and paper towels, coffee and kitchen necessities! The ornate fireplace bathtub is a spa experience! The artistic decor is endlessly entertaining as you notice a surprise around every corner. The lush green environment is so refreshing. We enjoyed the floating dock cabin and caught perch, bass, catfish, and sunfish. (They were quickly released after a photo!) The neighborhood was lovely to walk in, and deer, birds, squirrels, and butterflies kept us company! We will treasure our memories of this trip, and hope to return soon and rent the whole property for our extended family. God bless!

Great quiet riverfront getaway
Beautiful, eclectic house with a great story (ask the property manager!). Nice social cooking area. Recommend more for couples than families due to the lack of privacy (no internal walls, for the most part). A few issues with the listing as we saw it (it has been fixed since we stayed) drops the rating a notch but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Beautiful house on the river
This is a wonderful property on the Perdenales River. Even though it was hot, we enjoyed sitting out in the backyard, listening to the birds and watching the boats/skiers. The house had everything we needed and provided a nice, restful stay. Would definitely stay here again!

Magical Stay
From the moment we arrived, we were amazed at the beauty of not only the house but the entire property. There was a magical feel resonating from the house, and we were so incredibly relaxed the entire time we were there! Pictures do not even do this property justice. I highly recommend staying at the Casa de Joy and cannot wait to plan another stay here!

Wonderful Creativity
Pictures and words can not describe the beauty and creativity of this property. We are so glad we found this and gave it a go. It looks like a life long project that has do much detail and charm. Its nestled away on a quiet street with a handful of other houses, very quiet. There are great restaurants, shops, craft beer breweries with a half an hour away. We stayed here and cooked more than normal just to enjoy the place, its that nice.
