Was the perfect spot to stop for a few days, put up our feet, and just get away from it all. Super communicative owners and the perfect morning view for coffee and quiet.
We so enjoyed our stay. The little cabin in the woods is exactly what we needed. A big thank you to Larry he brought us a wireless speaker and bumpers for the boat. If you need a nice getaway this is your place.
Everything was wonderful! Larry is great! The cabin is adorable… The view is beautiful. We will be coming back. And the s’more donation was very appreciate it! Lol.
We had a quiet stay here late December. The cabin is very clean. The stairs up to the loft were steep and a challenge for my wife so we used the pullout couch downstairs which was surprisingly comfortable. We wished the fireplace was a functional one.
This is our second year coming to the cabin.
The hosts are very personable and the property in all aspects is just perfect for a "quiet" getaway. The addition of a hand rail for the stair leading down to the water was a welcome addition. Morning coffee on the lower deck at sunrise is priceless and is spending time on the lake on the pontoon. Thank You for the wonderful new memories we have made here. J&R
The layout of the cabin itself was spacious and accommodating. I have awful allergies and found relief even inside. Not a single cobweb or dust bunny! Very clean and really just the perfect escape. It allowed us to reset and reconnect over a weekend which was truly needed. The water was amazing. We enjoyed snacks we were provided and lots of great movies on their Roku TV. An overall great experience!!
A quick 4 day trip to visit our favorite lake with family in the area. Very rustic but peaceful and cozy on the inside. The owners took the time to stock the cabin with every imaginable thing a guest could need - games, popcorn, fixings for s’mores and more. Bathroom was tight but adequate. Upstairs took advantage of the limited space. Beds comfy. Couch was very comfy for relaxing. Beautiful views of the lake! The 63 steps down to the lake were tough for us older folks but gave us some great aerobic exercise 2-3 times a day! Nice patio close to the dock. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this rustic cabin.
A great quiet escape! Very clean and had everything we needed!! It was wonderful being right on the water. Loved the swing on the porch. Unfotunately we had rain most of the time so we could not have a fire but the rain sounds amazing in the roof! We did get some good weather for a bit to float and fish off the dock. The only "downside" to the cabin is the stairs to the loft and the stairs to the water. A little much on the old knees but worth it. Just take your time and don't try to carry too much...lol.
Peaceful, beautiful views from the front porch. Great place to sit have coffee and relax. The porch swing was awesome. We could have easily stayed another week. We swam off the dock . And spent time on the bottom deck next to the water. Chairs were provided which was nice not to have to carry them down the long stairway. I think we counted 69 steps but hand rail was nice to have and steps were easy to navigate. The cabin was cute and had everything we needed. Even an extra tooth brush which was nice because I forgot mine. Steps to loft are steep but we loved this little cabin and plan to come back!

Rustic Retreat
This property was clean and well-maintained, with a great view of the lake from the deck, porch swing and firepit. We loved the brand new deck leading to the dock, and we enjoyed making s’mores in the evenings with our fires. We used the grill two of our three nights. The property owners were very responsive and answered our many questions.
Something to note: the road leading to the cabin is a very tight one-lane road, so it can be tricky to navigate during higher traffic times.
The only complaint we had of the rental is that the loft area was a little too crowded with two beds in that area, making it difficult for 2 adults to sleep comfortably. It would have felt roomier without the twin bed up there.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rustic Retreat and had a blast on Norris Lake!

Not a good experience
Way to many steps to lake. The beds were horrible. The overall condition of everything outside needed cleaned up. The grill was nasty. The dock needs tie downs on both sides. The fire pit was a rusted out old truck rim. The toilet area was so small you couldn't even take care of "bare essentials" without stepping out of bathroom. The property manager was very nice but will never stay there again,
Cabin was great. Exactly as described. Road in and out was a little tight if you’re not used to something like that but there was never another car so all good. I can see why other reviewers said something about the bugs. We ran into a lot of millipedes, which was a little scary for me but my boyfriend took care of it. You really are in the woods here so you have to expect it. So quiet and peaceful. The stairs down to the dock were a little scary but that seems to be the norm anywhere on Norris. Overall, great place, responsive owners, beautiful view, fun dock. We had a great time.
I went on vacation by myself, because I am the caretaker of my 86-year-old father-in-law. Family was coming to town and that was my opportunity to take a break so I did. Let me tell you that was the best thing I’ve ever done ever. This log cabin is so charming. It’s unbelievable, It is a real log cabin. I have no complaints whatsoever. it was very cozy. It sleeps five but again I was by myself, so I just always used the sofa bed, which really wasn’t too bad to sleep on.
The view of the lake are absolutely beautiful. The porch swing was the best every morning with my coffee. The house is completely stocked with dishes and pots and pans and towels and paper products. If you have more than just a few people, you may want to bring extra paper products because in that department, they only give you so much. There was 61 stairs down to the lake, but if you’ve traveled anywhere in Tennessee, these stairs of half of what most of them are, and they really weren’t all that steep either. I really can’t say enough good things about this place. I will definitely be back.
The description on Verbo states that the cell phone is sketchy but the at the cabin, I never once had a problem with the Internet or my cell phone service. As far as TV goes they do have a smart TV that you can stream your services on, but you do need your own accounts for that.
Thank you so much Laura and Scott for sharing your home. It was a great experience, and I highly recommend this to everybody.
A harrowing drive on narrow roads to reach a serene location accessing a sublime emerald green lake with healing properties. The warm, cozy energy of the cabin set a mood of yes! We can finally breathe again! The porch swing a perfect place to sit and enjoy a rainstorm and the beautiful light show of lightning bugs that came after the rain. The water temperature was perfect and the steps down to the dock were invigorating! We kept joking how awesome our legs would look if we bought a lakefront home and traversed steps like those every day! My husband specifically wanted to know what laundry detergent was used on the bedding? He couldn't stop complimenting how clean they smelled. The only caution I would mention for future travelers is the size of the main bed in the loft is a Queen/full I believe.. and this is not a complaint at all.. just a heads up for those of us that have EXTREMELY tall partners. My husband is 6'7" tossing and turning all night long with his feet dangling in the air didn't afford me any rest. If we had stayed more than one night he would've had to of slept on the couch downstairs for the duration of the stay. The house keeping service showed up at 10:03 and we were up so not a problem but we were still packing our things as we thought check out was shortly before 11am. We always plan to be out 30 minutes prior to stated check out times so 10:03 was a bit of a surprise to find a car pulling up into the driveway. Again not a deal breaker. Def worth it!!
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin, it is very peaceful and a beautiful view looking over the lake. We took our boat and the boat ramp is right around the corner from the cabin so very convenient! We hope to stay again!
We recently stayed at this quiet lakefront property near the marina, and it was just what we expected. The dock was perfect for our kayaks, fishing, and swimming. The cabin comfortably accommodated the five of us, though we did have to sleep with our heads at the bottom of the sofa bed due to its slant.
A stash of extra linens would have been helpful since my daughter tends to hog the covers and bath towels. Despite that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, spending relaxing moments on the porch and around the fire pit, and getting some exercise on the stairs to the lake:)
Overall, it was a wonderful experience!
