Destination
Kala Nera –it actually means ‘clear water’, is one of the 25 villages dotted throughout Pelion peninsula map. Situated 18klm from the port city of Volos next to the Pagasetic Gulf it has been a popular tourist destination for Greek visitors during the 80’s. It is less known outside Greece and well suited for families and groups wanting something more than the classic beach holiday caged in faceless resorts. A shopping or a night walk in the city of Volos is worthwhile and there are regular bus services linking the village to the city. Although some of Greece's most famous beaches lie at the foot of Pelion at approximately 30’ drive, it is also possible to do horse riding, mountain biking, sailing etc. This place, full of myths, is best known for the many forested paths enjoyed by hikers who return regularly throughout the year. There are beautiful walking paths close by not to be missed and visits to old churches and the famous mini Steam Train!
