Rio River Retreat Lodge is a beautiful 4000 square ft log cabin located on the Gold Medal Waters of the Rio Grand River. With 6 bedrooms plus a sleeping loft, and 3 1/2 baths spread out on 3 levels, there is plenty of space for everyone without feeling crowded! The Lodge sits on 4 acres, so there are no neighbors right up against you. You will love the privacy of the deck overlooking the river and yard! Enjoy the beautiful mountain views out every window! You will love the updated, comfortable rooms and wish you would’ve stayed longer!
The open concept living/ dining/ kitchen allows everyone to be part of the conversations about your adventures each day! The large game room is a fun place to come together on cold or rainy evenings.
The kitchen has 2 refrigerators, double oven, microwave, dishwasher with plenty of cookware, bakeware and dishes- everything you need to prepare meals during your stay. The dining room is large enough to seat 25 guests comfortably. The living room has a large comfy sectional and a 65" tv and Octastream device which allows you to watch all of your sports live.
The Lodge is the perfect location for families and friends to gather to make memories where the river meets the mountains! We enjoy church youth groups, men's/ women's retreats, marriage retreats, quilt/ craft/ scrapbook retreats, fishing and skiing groups, & family reunions.

Looking for a large space with beautiful mountain views to host a sewing or scrapbook retreat? We provide the tables and chairs! Call Melissa to schedule a retreat for your group!!

Searching for a small rustic style wedding/ elopement venue with river and mountain views? You’ll love the riverside ceremony location and patio for a small reception. There IS an additional event fee and the bride/ groom MUST contact the owner, Melissa by phone prior to booking a wedding/ vow renewal ceremony to make sure that Rio River Retreat is the perfect fit for your special day. The event fee includes the riverside aspen arch, rustic benches, white wooden folding chairs and reception tables. Maximum number of guests is 25.

The lodge is fully furnished and newly updated with hand hewn log beds and memory foam mattresses. Enjoy the beautiful view of the river from the main floor and upstairs bedrooms or the tranquility and quietness of the basement bedrooms.
The game room is in the basement with a pool table, a foos ball table, bean bag toss, a smart TV/ DVD player and various games and puzzels for all to enjoy after a long day of hiking, fishing or skiing.
Enjoy your morning coffee on the large deck that overlooks the river or watch the rafters and kayakers float by in the afternoon.
WIFI is available throughout the lodge.
Hunters——-We are HORSE FRIENDLY!! Board your horse(s) on the same property. A covered stall and large pen are available at a reasonable cost to both guests and non-guests.
Enjoy a wide variety of outdoor activities in and around South Fork- fishing, hiking, riding ATV's, biking, exploring jeep trails, golfing, rafting, and kayaking. Or just sit on the porch and watch the world float by! Be sure and follow us on social media for the most up to date pictures and last minute deals!

Our go-to place to stay!
This lodge easily houses our group of 15-20 every year for our annual ski trip, and it has plenty of space to relax, play games, cook, and eat together. The owners are easy to communicate with and friendly people. We hope to return year after year!

Great place to stay particularly if you have a large group. Ample room for all!
We really enjoyed our short stay, great location with easy access to world class skiing at Wolf Creek and close enough to spend a relaxing evening in the historic mining town of Creede. We had so much fun and definitely will return next year!

Beautiful location, amazing hosts, great experience!
This was my second time staying at the Rio River Lodge and it just keeps getting better! Melissa goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is enjoyable and memorable. Our group had a blast getting to all be together! The location is great and easy to get to Wolf Creek to ski. Overall I highly recommended staying at this charming lodge!

Great home base for skiing at Wolf Creek
We had three families with a total of 12 people stay here and there was lots of extra room. We played games and cooked dinner each evening in the dinner/living room. Pool and foosball tables were fun additions that are downstairs. On top of this, we got lucky with a lot of snow to play in. South Fork is a relatively easy drive up to Wolf Creek each day.

House and location was everything we were looking for. Very spacious, plenty of room for guest and hanging out. Was perfect for our large group on ski trip and have zero complaints. House was beautiful in a great town with everything need in south fork colorado.

Great family ski vacation
Our group of 15 (ages 2 months to adult) stayed at Rio River Retreat for a ski vacation. Melissa and Dan were great hosts and always quick to respond. The place suited us well with a bedroom for each of our kids’ families. We will definitely keep it in mind the next time we stay in South Fork.

Family of twenty
Clean ,plenty of room for everybody , never felt like we were on top of each other. Lots of activities inside and out , we are definitely making this a regular family outing . We all agree we will be back year after year.

Good for family. Games weren’t up to what they said.
Family reunion time. Most the time we were at another rental that catered to family reunions better. This rental had corn hole that didn’t have bags with it. Then badminton that had missing poles, pool table with lots of tears and not leveled. Foosball that was missing balls and broken handle that I was able to fix. Broken front

Great place, great hosts
Rio River Retreat was the perfect place for our group. Had 13 guys and float fished the Rio Grande every day. Tons of parking for rigs and trailered boats, even pulled rafts out on the lawn in front of the house a few times. Super comfortable beds and plenty of space in the cabin. Dan and Melissa are great hosts. Very communicative and available to answer we had. Will definitely rent the place again in the future.

Totally recommend!
We celebrated my parents 50th wedding anniversary at the lodge and my sister stayed in the smaller cabin just a short walk between the trees. We had 23 people between both cabins and had plenty of room. The house is also right along the river with amazing views. The kitchen was large enough to cook for all of us as well. The property managers were helpful and answered our questions in a timely manner. We will be back for sure!

It was perfect
We enjoyed every second at the lodge. It was warm and cozy. We were only 7 but 4 busy kiddos so we all had space to be in. Loved having the kitchen and used it daily even if we were just baking cookies. The game room gave us all some entertainment. I was able to laundry and come home with very few dirty clothes which is a plus when getting home from vacation. Loved our stay and would recommend it to anyone.

We arrived on Saturday afternoon and we were very pleased with the house. It had ample sleeping, eating and relaxing furniture. The children really enjoyed the play room. We played several of the games. Several tried fishing in the River that went by the house. We have many good memories. The owners were very helpful and quickly answered all of our questions. Great place.

Excellent vacation home and perfect location
Thank you Dan and Melissa for sharing your lovely home with us. I highly recommend this rental. We booked our stay for a ski trip/winter getaway for family and a few friends. The house is large and spacious and provided plenty of room for everyone. The 3 levels were perfect for giving multiple generations their privacy and space, and we could easily meet up for meals and visiting in the large living/dining room or for games in the basement. The house had everything we needed and Dan and Melissa were close by and available to help. Not only is the house perfect, but the location and view is spectacular. The home is right on the river and the view is gorgeous in all directions. We will definitely return to this beautiful home in South Fork.

The only complaint our group of 20 had was the lack of hot water. We all were riding UTV’s and getting very dusty and with only one hot water heater half the group had to either take cold showers or wait a couple of hours for warm water. Told the owners and they seemed like they were going to address the issue. Very nice owners!!

Winter Famiky Vacation at Rio River Retreat
The Rio River Retreat was perfect cabin for our group of 18 for our annual ski trip. The family/game room was perfect for evening family fun and a good hangout space for some that wanted to stay up a bit later than others. The kitchen, living room and dining room were open concept which allowed for us all to be together during meal prep, cooking and dining time! The kitchen had a huge island and double convection ovens which were awesome for meal prep and serving! Melissa has the kitchen stocked so well with appliances, dishes and almost anything you would need. The view out the back of the river and out the front big windows of the mountain were stunning. Since it was winter we did not get to enjoy the beautiful deck and yard space but we guess it is a favorite spot in all the other seasons. This cabin is ina great location in south fork which is close to Wolf Creek. We loved our stay and hope to return again!

Everything was a good as advertised
There was plenty of room for all of us during our stay. This was important since there were 16 of us. We had a winter storm that knocked out power for two days. Even without power the house stayed warm. There was gas heaters in the basement and on the main floor just for such an emergency. Our host checked on us regularly during the outage just to make sure we had everything we needed and kept us informed as to when to expect power to return. They did an excellent job at keeping the driveway plowed which was needed since we received over 60 inches of snow ion three days. Our host make sure that an extra trash pickup was scheduled since there were 16 of us. A very nice touch. If you are planning on visiting in the winter I strongly suggest 4W drive, not just for this property, but for getting to the ski resort. My only regret is that I wished I had brought my fishing pole during this Ski vacation. We will definitely stay here again.
