Welcome to Forest Lane Cottage!
** PLEASE NOTE - I no longer have access to a laundry service that is able to take care of providing clean towels and linens. Please understand that I would like to provide this service, but I am unable to. Thus, you’ll need to plan on bringing your own. I do apologize for this.
This 3 bedroom cottage began renting in early 2018! Please note that the nightly rate is not based upon how many people stay. Some other properties charge up to $20 more per night per person over 2 guests. I want larger groups to be able to enjoy this location without worrying about paying for additional people who stay!
Please note, I want to make sure people know this is a rustic rural farmhouse. It was built in 1953 and shows its age a bit! There is a door or two that doesn’t close perfectly. The house is in a very wooded area with many trees and is partially shaded. Thus the roof will have some leaves on it and the gutters won’t be perfectly clean. As I listed in the paragraph above - the nightly rate for a cottage that sleeps 9-10 guests for my nightly rate is a bargain. The basement is partially finished so please don’t expect luxury. The pool table is functional but the basement that it’s in is by no means meant as a living space. The bunk beds have metal frames and the flooring in about half the house is not genuine hardwood!
I have tried the best I can to describe this rural farmhouse as not to induce any unrealistic expectations. If you’re looking for 5-star hotel accommodations - you won’t find that here. However, you won’t be paying for 5-star accommodations either.
I have had some recent complaints regarding a few items so please read the following info prior to booking. Your booking this cabin acknowledges that you have read and understand the information contained in this ad.
This RUSTIC cottage is located in a wooded and grassy area. There are bugs and there are spiders and there are other furry critters in the area. The cabin is typically cleaned on a Monday after folks check out. The cleaning service has an hour round trip travel time, so it is likely it won’t be “freshened up” immediately prior to your arrival if you come later in the week. Please expect there to be a sign of activity of these bugs and spiders and other pests in this natural wooded area.
The lawn service might not always be able to mow or trim weeds directly prior to your arrival. Many factors such as rain, wooded property access, and land topology play into this. This is not a metropolitan or town location. If you are expecting that, understand you might be disappointed and won’t receive a refund.
Sometimes, a window might fail to lock. However, all main entry doors are secure and have locks on them. We have never had a security incident since we began cabin rentals in 2012. I have had many, many very happy customers. Many folks come back to each of my locations each and every season. However, a few have not been happy due to the items listed above. Please be sure you understand the above information before choosing to stay here.
The hot tub is on and working! It’s located just off the front porch within feet of the entry door! There is also a pool table in the basement, along with a table and bar stools.
The cottage is located directly between Old Man's Cave and Ash Cave, about 5 miles from each cave.
The property can sleep 9-10 guests, and possibly more if you bring air mattresses.
Pets are welcome. Free DIRECTV in two rooms is included as well as free Wi-Fi.
Jimbo's Bar and Grill is located within walking distance, where you can enjoy live music on the weekends. Jimbo's is well-known for great burgers, sandwiches, a great beer and wine selection, and many large screen TV's!
Get out today to the Hocking Hills!
PLEASE NOTE - this property is located in a rural setting with open grassy areas and woods nearby. We do our best to keep pesky rodents away but at times there could be a rodent that was just caught in a trap. We have tried poison, traps, and using nothing at all; we have landed on continuing to use mousetraps. Poison causes them to die in the most inopportune places and having no traps at all just leads to larger issues. If you happen to find a mouse in a trap we apologize - we truly are doing the best to can to make the pests disappear. Just please be prepared to place all food in sealable containers or in the refrigerator so you don’t attract them even more!
In addition to small furry pests, an occasional wood roach might be wandering around a cabin. I assure you these are NOT a cock roach. Please google “wood roach”. They feed on moist damp wood. They don’t really want to be inside but they might have been carried in on firewood or wandered in looking for a mate. They don’t eat human food and they don’t want to be inside. If you find one, please either dispose of it or simply throw it outside.
And finally, this cottage backs up against a LARGE, STEEP hill and rainwater runs off this hill directly toward the house. That rainwater often seeps through the basement concrete walls and sometimes collects in small areas on the basement floor. We do our best to make sure it is mopped but sometimes it occurs the day of your arrival. Please be patient and understand that this is sometimes unavoidable and you might need to mop/squeegee some rainwater.
Thanks for your patience as you venture in to the rural wooded areas of Hocking Hills!
