Le Gite De Parc (2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4)

This south facing gîte is an all day sun trap with private terrace running the length of the building. Although built of local stone in 1800 the layout bears more than a passing resemblance to the longierre style of cottages of Haute Normandy. Looking at the cottage from the left you will find, fully fitted kitchen with cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, coffee maker and a breakfast table. French windows open onto the terrace. The kitchen leads into the dining room and has an open fireplace, (logs can be bought in cooler months). A door to the right leads into a double bedroom decorated and furnished in classic rustic Normandy French style. This leads straight into the bathroom with bath/shower wc, wash basin and bidet. At the very end of the cottage is a small living room which has a two seater sofa and 2 armchairs. French windows lead out onto the terrace from the living room. The living room is equipped with DVD and all English freeview channels. Upstairs to bedroom 2

Part of three traditional modernised Normandy cottages in 3 hectares of lush watermill setting. The cottages are sympathetic conversions of old stone outbuildings, all fully equipped for the perfect self catering holiday. The Calvados region of Normandy is ideal for rambling, fishing, back-to-nature, family holidays. The banks of the River Vire are perfect for peaceful walks, fishing, renewal and rejuvenation. Within easy reach of many of the fabulous Normandy and Brittany beaches, the Medieval town of Bayeux and charming fishing village Honfleur and millionaires' Deauville. Historic towns such as Mont St Michel, Flers. Parks, chateaux, shops, markets, golf courses, horse riding, fishing and sailing are all local. Campeaux is a great launching pad for exploring the Calvados and Normandy region. The Vire Valley offers a landscape of rolling hills and occasional gorges, local cider and of course its Calvados.

A Lovely place to stay !
A lovely setting for either a quiet break, or a base to explore the countryside, with the usual variety of attractions not too far away. Very friendly and welcoming owners, comfortable accommodation, and a relaxing atmosphere made this one of the best gites we've visited in France. The site was even nicer than we'd imagined, and Ideal for touring the D-Day landing beaches and bocage country, or visiting some of the historic buildings and sites in towns such as Domfront, Falaise, St Lo and Bayeux, amongst many. The area around the gite was like being in a park, with the river at the end of the garden. If wildlife is your interest there are plenty of things to spot, including birds, mammals and insects, with loads of photo opportunities. The sound of the water is very soothing. We would recommend this gite to anyone visiting the area. All in all a most enjoyable stay, and we would definitely return - hopefully for a longer visit !

A brilliant place to stay over Christmas time. The gite was clean and had everything we need. We especially loved the fireplace. Jeni and Glen were fantastic, they answered all our questions and were always on hand. Thank you for a brilliant stay!

Where Nature invites you in*
If you're looking for a piece of Paradise this is your place. After being greeted by Johnny who said with a grin on his face "I speak Irish". He then showed us where we could park our car; it very easy and convenient to unload any luggage. He then escorted us into our cottage and in the living room on the coffee table we noticed a vase full of beautiful vibrant yellow flowers that had been grown in the garden along the side of the cottage. Johnny then pointed out that his lovely wife Lynn had made us a welcome basket that was full of some homemade and grown goodies. After a brief walk through the place it was all ours. The cottage and grounds were quite private and spotless yet very welcoming. The interior of the cottage was full of ambient light along with lot's of windows and french-doors to let in all that fresh country air. They also allowed to have a breath taking view of the garden that looked down to the stream; it was absolutely charming. My husband was in total heaven with the Bar-B-Q, in fact he made one every night of our stay. We decided to explore a little and discovered "The Barn" which is on the property and is a really cool place to hang out toeither play mean game of ping pong or fuse-ball or just hang out on the oversized couches and chairs and play with a very sweet and welcoming pooch named Tobey or just pet a very gentle and affectionate curious orange cat named Peanuts aka "Nuts". Also in the barn we noticed a table which displayed some of Lynn's finest; an array of homemade jars of;Marmalade Calvados, Plum Jam, Beetroot Vinegar of Cider and Plum Chutney which were all available for purchase at a too good to beat price; we ended up buying almost the whole lot. What made this one of our best trips ever was the tranquillity of this magical place. We woke up every morning to the sounds and sights of all the nature around us hearing the birds sing and watch all the butterflies dance with the faint sound of the river that flowed just outside. A truly gem and wonderful place to find a little bit of countryside magic*

Heerlijke week

Fantastic hosts, superb location, wonderful holiday.
This is the most magical place. We happened upon it by accident three years ago and have now visited four times. Johnny and Lynn are so kind and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The accommodation is spotless and comfortable. We shall be returning again soon.

Quiet country living close to top sights
Oh - how we loved this location! There is a stream right next door and there is barely any car passing which makes for a surreal and relaxing environment. The owners live on site and are extremely kind. They speak English perfectly and are very helpful. The house is well equipped for cooking all meals. There is a wonderful outdoor area, as well, for enjoying all of it. This location could easily be your destination location. Yet, it is also only an hour drive to Mont San Michele and the D-Day beaches.

The most stunning place we have ever visited
This place is a slice of heaven. From the moment we arrived we felt as though we had slipped from our hectic lives in the UK into bliss! Our hosts were incredible and couldn't have been more helpful offering local knowledge, wine and wood for our fire! Their dog, Azure, wandered in and out making us feel more as though we were part of a family rather than tourists. The accommodation is stunning; warm and rustic, offering all the comforts of home yet maintaining all the charm that rural France promises. We wandered down to the river each morning and fed the horses at lunchtime then walked down the lane in the afternoon, I can't tell you how much of an antidote this place is to the the stresses and strains of life in the UK! There is a Carrefore within 10 minutes drive, the beaches are close by and the countryside is right on your doorstep. What more could a holiday offer? We have already booked to go back.

Beautiful situation .
We visited with our two grand daughters aged 8 and 13. It was perfect for us with the lovely situation by the side of a gentle river, swims before breakfast, messing about on the river in the canoe and fishing. . A great place for children Feeding the horses each morning and BBQ s in the superb barn We regularly saw kingfisher on the river . The house is based on a Normandy long house style and the various external doors made for fun comings and goings . The village bakery was first class as was the homemade jam made by Johnny and Lynn. We enjoyed several days on the beautiful coast , uncrowded even in early August. Spotlessly clean beaches, shallow waters. and endless rockpools to explore . We were able to relax whilst the girls safely explored and a first for all of us was seeing the expanse of oyster beds . A thoroughly enjoyable holiday was the verdict of all of us

Stunning setting, peaceful and relaxed - we loved the Gite de Parc
We were made most welcome by Johnny & his partner Lynn. The Gite was spacious (2 adults and a dog - in a 4 person), very comfortable and had everything we would have expected. We couldn't think of anything we needed above what was provided. The interior is furnished in a rustic French style, enhanced by your own fairly private sun trap, and gardens just to the side of the other Gites. No cottage is ever perfect, and we could nit pick on minor issues - but we were escaping from such attitudes so prevalent in the UK and just enjoying our time away from the rat race. And we did - very much so. This is the perfect place for pottering, reading ,and visiting the Bocage area of Normandie. We felt very welcome everywhere we went, and were amazed how dog friendly bistro's and cafes were in Torrigni, Beny Bocage, Vire and many other villages. Our French pronunciation was met with much politeness. We recommend the Boulangerie, and Boucherie in Campeaux - and found the mini mart useful too.

Wonderfully secluded, tranquil spot to recharge
Much appreciated Johnny Carroll's hospitality and great advice with regards to culinary options nearby. the little river which passes right by the estate and the rolling hills surrounding the location were a delight in autumn colors. Many sights to see within easy reach (by car that is ;-) Highly recommendable if you are not looking for the hustle&bustle environment.

Wind in the willows
My wife and I traveled by ferry from Rosslare to Cherbourg, just over an hour’s easy drive to Gite de Parc, for a three-day stay. Our mission was to stock up on our wine cellar for the year ahead, thereby saving a fortune avoiding high Irish taxes on wine, and to take a short break visiting the many interesting and historic sights of Normandy. What an idyllic setting we found in Gite de Parc! The sound of the river flowing through it and the beautiful trees and old mill reminded us of an enchanted setting for the “Wind in the Willows”. The house itself was clean, comfortable and well supplied, with a lovely private garden and terrace from which we could watch the river flowing by. So restful! Our friendly hosts, Johnny and Lynn, gave us excellent advice on where to find the best wine bargains based on their years of experience living in France. We will definitely be returning to this little piece of heaven in the Normandy countryside!

Beautiful riverside cottage
After a lovely personal welcome from both Johnny & Lynn, we spent a whole week exploring Normandy from this wonderful base just north of Vire. There's many places to visit within an hours drive, however, we also spent a couple of days much closer to the cottage, including a 3.5k walk up the valley to the bungee jump centre nearby. The three properties each have their own garden, and access to the lovely shared barn which provides a great communal space, many a lovely evening spent drinking on one of the sofas whilst the children played table tennis. Would highly recommend this property if you want a quiet location with just the sound of the river in the background !

Fantastic, ideal gite for re-charging your battery
Just knew we would not be disappointed in our choice of gite, peaceful, secluded and only the sound of the river and birds to keep us company, ideal for re-charging our batteries, Jonny was an entertaining host with lots of local knowledge on history and WW2, the cottage was so well equipped, dishwasher! BBC news, Wi Fi if needed, in fact every thing we wanted to chill out, didn't get round to playing table tennis in the barn, badminton or boules all of which is available, the bikes and the canoe we have left till the next time we visit. Le Moulin l'eveque would be the ideal venue for family groups being there are 3 cottages, but not close to each other, they all have their own private garden. We had an occasional visit from Azure (jonny's dog) and the cats passing by which was welcome, as we had left our dog at home. We are looking forward to a return visit. thank you Jonny

Peacefully Setting
A fabulous weeks stay at the lovely Gite - Le Gite D'lle in a great setting by the river, which is a typical French Gite with every thing you need. Johnny and Lynne are such lovely people who make you feel at home straight away. They are always around if you need them and very knowledgable about the area and the place it's self which is stunning. If you are after a get away from it all holiday this is it, relax with a glass of local wine/cider or a good book and listen to the water and watch the wonderful wildlife and the birds singing. You are not far away from Ben y Bocage for those essentials, patisserie, wine shop, butchers and supermarket and also for eating out. Once again Johnny and Lynne thank you for making our holiday memorable. Kevin & Jeanette
