Family Friendly Villa With Private Pool & Spectacular Mountain & Castle Views

Casa Renata lies at the foot of the Cimini Mountains and the picturesque medieval town of Soriano nel Cimino, ideally located within a 2 minute drive from an array of excellent local amenities. This well-equipped 2 bedroom/2 bathroom country home is set within its own secluded grounds, surrounded by olive trees, fruit trees and spectacular 360° views overlooking the unspoilt countryside of the Tiber Valley and beyond to the Apennine Mountains.

Set within a prime location, a 15 minute drive to the beautiful historic walled medieval city of Viterbo, an hours’ drive from Rome and less than a 30 minute drive north to the neighbouring borders of Tuscany and Umbria, Casa Renata provides the perfect base in northern Lazio to explore the area’s magnificent towns, gardens, lakes and coastline, close at hand and easily accessible by either car or rail. Here you can discover the best of both worlds, a relaxing holiday in the heart of central Italy's stunning countryside, yet perfectly positioned for day trips to some of Italy's most fantastic cities.

Casa Renata is an ideal holiday home for families with young children, couples and friends alike. The view of Soriano with its crowning castle in the distance provides the perfect back drop for lazy days spent enjoying barbecues, swimming and relaxing around the pool and large garden. Guests staying throughout the Spring and Summer months can help themselves to a number of different fruit growing within the grounds; peaches, cherries, figs, plums and all of our guests can sample our very own olive oil provided in our welcome baskets. Evenings at the villa can be spent dining alfresco around the large table under the spacious veranda watching the bats swoop down over the moonlit pool, the perfect way to unwind after a busy day of sight-seeing. Please visit our website, Tuscia Lets, for more information on Casa Renata.

Our relatively undiscovered lively town of Soriano with its pretty winding streets and excellent local amenities is reminiscent of those of nearby Tuscany and Umbria, yet untouched my mass tourism. Offering visitors the chance to discover a truly authentic Italy, while still enjoying a great variety of bars, fantastic yet reasonably priced restaurants, traditional stores providing superb local produce and a Friday morning weekly market.

Getting a feel for Soriano living; The town’s main square is the living hub of the community and an integral part of daily life. Stopping off at Bar Roma in the morning for the perfect Italian coffee and pastry and enjoying an evening aperitivo on the piazza while watching the world go by at Bar Centrale, are daily Sorianese past times not to be missed. Be transported back in time by exploring Soriano’s pretty medieval streets, fountains and churches in the heart of the town that lead up to the 13th Century Orsini Castle. Visit the Renaissance fountains of Papacqua and Palazzo Chigi-Albani and enjoy fantastic meals at restaurants Tre Scalini, La Baita La Faggeta or Il Carolino to name but a few, overlooking the valley below providing the perfect setting for al fresco dining on warm Spring and Summer evenings.

Throughout the year towns and villages throughout our region of Tuscia come together in celebrating their own unique festivals, mixing Catholic heritage, ancient customs, Jazz music and proud culinary traditions. An area famous for its cuisine reflecting the regions vast woodlands and lakes, foods such as mushrooms, cherries, wild boar, olive oil and pecorino cheese are in abundance and widely celebrated, from wine in Montefiascone to chestnuts in Soriano. Many popular festivals are held throughout the Autumnal Harvest Season with the arrival of the grape, olive and hazelnut, often resulting in one of the best times to visit the area for days spent sight-seeing when daily temperatures in Autumn commonly remain around 23°C. However it is in the spring and summer months when Tuscia’s festivals are in full swing, with seemingly a festival for every day of the week! Please see our website for further details.

Our hometown of Soriano nel Cimino celebrates one of the largest festivals in the area with its wonderful 'Sagra della Castagna' or Chestnut Festival. During the first three weeks of October, visitors are transported back in time walking the town’s decorated medieval streets and immersed into a medieval world, from grand medieval parades and ancient battle re-enactments to medieval sports; flag throwing, jousting and archery. Over 500 participants in medieval costume represent the four quarters or contradas of Soriano; Papacqua, La Rocca, San Giorgio and Trinita, who compete against each other throughout the course of the festival. Visitors also have the chance to partake in lively celebrations held at each of the contrada’s four tavernas by joining the ‘Sorianese’ in sampling a variety of fantastic local 5 course meals. It's the perfect time to visit!

Lovely house and gorgeous location
Lovely property with everything you need, positioned very well for visits to Soriano and everything it offers and many other pretty spots. You need a car to take full advantage, but the local coop and coffee shop are easy walking distance which is convenient for emergency provisions and replenishments. The house has everything you need and was well kept and comfortable. The lush gardens do seem to attract more of those awful tiger mosquitoes that are local to the area, but sprays, candles and so on are readily available locally Would definitely stay again!

Wonderful house, garden, pool and location
Lovely property with a very large garden and good-sized pool with a view up to the castle on the hill of Soriano – all very idyllic. The house is well kept and equipped as is the area around the pool. The town centre is a 15 – 20 min walk but you will need a car to get around to enable you to visit lots of the beautiful local places such as the Lakes Bolsena and Vico, Civita di Bagnoregio, Caprarola, Viterbo, Orvieto and all within an hour’s travel. The inCoop supermarket is close by for all you need but there is also a couple of shops before you enter the main square that sell a very wide selection of fruit, veg, cheese and charcuterie. Soriano is very Italian and not touristy at all, which was great. Daniela, the owner, was always prompt and helpful in comms throughout the booking process and was available if we were to have any queries during out stay. Would definitely recommend so enjoy !

Wonderful holiday
We had a wonderful time ; the house was comfortable and well furnished. The large garden has a great pool with stunning views up the hill to Soriano. We sometimes ate at the house in the evening, and enjoyed using the large wood BBQ but otherwise ate in the village restaurants. In July there was the village music festival with live performances in the square. Further afield we had a number of days in Rome; a very easy journey by train.

An Italian gem
Thank you Daniela for a wonderful 2 weeks in your lovely villa and surroundings. We had a fantastic holiday and it is ideally placed for visiting beautiful places in Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany. The welcome basket was a lovely gesture and the olive oil from the garden was delicious. There is so much to see and do in this area, that we have only skimmed the surface - we will be back! Thanks again for providing such a homely, well provided villa with a great pool and garden. It was truly idyllic.

Wonderful family stay
Very sad to be home from our wonderful 10 days at Casa Renata. The house was a real home from home for our family. Our children loved the pool and gardens as did we. We had some great days out to thermal baths, gardens and towns and incorporated an overnight stay in Rome half way through. Everywhere was so easy to access from the house via car and the train to Rome was great. The whole vitrrbo area felt "normal" and not overrun with tourists. Daniela was a gem from initial enquiry onwards. Thank you.

Fabulous house and environment!
We had a wonderful time at Casa Renata. Warm welcome by Daniela. She is always available for any question or issue. Just send her an sms and she responds immediately. House fully equipped, very neat and airco in bedrooms. Daily maintenance of the swimmingpool and weekly full cleaning of the house! Very nice terrace with large table and superb BBQ with wood available to use. Lots of nice places to visit in the neighborhood and very close to supermarket and center with bars and restaurants. I will highly recommend this holiday house!

One of the best !
Villa exactly as described, very clean and well maintained. Garden area and pool superb and a dads delight, superb wood fired bbq !!! Everything in the house you could possibly need. Lovely village albeit up a hill in the blistering heat, but not complaining ! Local pizzeria fine but you'll want to eat on the patio most evenings anyway. Local coop two minutes away and well stocked, good selection of very reasonably priced food and wine. Daniela kept in touch before and after, ensuring Alberto (groundsman) there for arrival and departure. Certainly one of the best Villas we have stayed in. Thank you Daniela.

An absolute gem
A beautiful villa and pool set in a huge plot surrounded by olive, fig and fruit trees. We spent two weeks here and had a wonderful time. The villa had everything we needed and more, the pool was superb and what a delight to pick fresh figs for breakfast every day! There are so many places to visit nearby by car, although the town, overlooked by the castle, is accessible by foot uphill. A very friendly town with cafes and restaurants and the views from the top are amazing. The inCOOP supermarket just along the road from the villa stocks everything! We had the opportunity to visit Viterbo (viewed the Macchina of Santa Rosa), Villa Lante (as seen in Monty Don’s Around the World in 80 Gardens), Sacro Bosco, Necropolis of Monterozzi in Tarquinia and the amazing Civita di Bagnoregio. So much to see, but so much to enjoy at Casa Renata. Daniela, the owner, is fantastic and is always available should you need any assistance. Highly recommend this villa, we will certainly be returning.

Casa Renata; A Trip In Time
The description of Casa Renata on the website sounded too good to be true and we were sure that it had been talked up and the photos would have been selective,,,,,,,, we were wrong! This is simply a superb villa in a fantastic location with friendly locals, great amenities, but lets start with the casa itself. We were met by the now famous Alberto who, without much English gave us a great welcome and the full guided tour. The accommodation was fabulous, well appointed with everything you could need to make your stay just great (there was even a welcome basket and some basics like milk and eggs, and wine)! The Casa was immaculately clean, as were the linen and towels and the large pool, thanks to Alberto and his magic submersible vacuum cleaner! The location was magical with the medieval town and castle of Soriano looming majestically in the near distance whilst you are completely surrounded by gardens and fruit trees, without being overlooked by any other residences. Close enough to Rome for a day visit with many other historic and interesting points of interest nearby. Driving is easy with much less traffic than at home. Now the negatives....... apart from the mosquitoes there aren't any! Just brilliant... get it booked!

Villa Casa Renata review August 2019
We booked Casa Renata for 2 weeks and were delighted with the whole experience. Communication with Daniela was great from start to finish and welcome pack on arrival was a nice touch. The photos of the gardens and pool and views do not really do justice to how amazing the outside area is - just fabulous. We have only once found a Holiday venue we would return to (there are so many places to visit), but Casa Renata is now added to that very exclusive list. We also loved the surrounding area - not touristy but with loads to do, and really easy access to Rome via train at Orte station (we went 3 times - so easy). Thanks Daniela - we look forward to returning.

Beautiful villa in a stunning town
Casa Renata was everything we had imagined and more. The photos don't really do it justice, especially the bedrooms which are much more spacious than they appear and our two tall teenage sons were very comfortable in the twin bedded room. It was spotless on arrival and then again in the middle of our two week stay. Daniela has been efficient and helpful ever since our initial contact and Peta was welcoming and very knowledgable during our brief time with her to take the keys. Rome is within easy distance by train from Orte. The villa has an excellent folder full of all the information you could possibly need. Bagnoregio, Lake Bolsena, Viterbo and La Faggetta nature reserve all worth visiting, plus much more that we didn't get around to. The highlight for me was Soriano itself, so pretty and not at all touristy, the small cobbled streets are enchanting and the castle impressive. Restaurants are friendly and the food is delicious. The local co op for self catering couldn't really be any closer, just 200m down the road and caters for all needs. We took this villa to 'do' Rome without staying in the city centre and it certainly did not disappoint on any level. I must mention Marco who cleans the pool daily, early, we only met him once! The pool is delightful and the gardens so well kept. The fig tree was our favourite breakfast habit. I couldn't recommend staying here highly enough, as you can tell! Thank you to Daniela for sharing it.

The fantastic Casa Renata
This is a fantastic villa set in secluded grounds on the edge of Soriano that gives privacy and location. The small town of Soriano is a 20 minute walk where you can find 'unspoilt' Italian trattorias, bars and cafes. If you have a vehicle, there's some great locations in the area to visit that provide interesting days 'out and about'.The villa is extremely clean, well maintained with a great pool area where you can relax in the sun. For us, this is a highly recommended holiday destination.

A relaxing holiday in Soriano
We were welcomed by Peta to a clean, comfortable and well equipped home from home. and loved the welcome basket of home produce and wine. We appreciated having the aircon as the temperature remained in the mid-30s during our first week. Having the pick of the fresh fruit in the garden was delightful and Daniela was always ready and willing to give us tips and suggestions to make our holiday go smoothly. Soriano itself is delightful, not touristy but welcoming and Rome is an easy train ride away. Lots of interesting towns and places of interest to visit easily, we'd love to return.

Excellent house & pool immediately outside Soriano
The house, pool and garden are well maintained. The house is just outside Soriano - the pool has a good view of the castle - and is only about a 200 metre walk from the newish Co-op supermarket on the edge of town. The automatic gate is useful, although the entrance junction with the main road is a bit awkward for drivers! The town and surrounding area have several excellent restaurants, and there is plenty to see and do, though relaxing in and by the pool was our priority, having been to the area twice before.

A Rare Find
As seasoned travelers, our expectations were fully met at Villa Casa Renata. The attractive villa was well equipped (including a hair dryer) and clean and set in lovely, well-tended gardens with pool overlooking the local village of Sorianno nel Cimino. It was a wonderful touring base within easy and cheap traveling distance of Rome and other historic centres like Viterbo which was a delight to visit. The lush and varied countryside round about is a well-kept secret. Although on a busyish road, it was not noticeable after a short while. A final thanks to Daniela and team for their warm welcome and for making our stay so enjoyable.

Superb villa
A superb villa. Clean, well appointed and in a great location for striking out to Rome and other gems such as Viterbo and Orvieto. The pool is a winner, as is the garden and it is very quiet. A great local shop just up the road and Soriano is charming with great bars. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you Daniela and Alberto.
