"The only negative was that other guest’s dog lefy 2 piles of geces in the corridet. Someone tried to remove it but left 2 significant feces smears on the carpet. We immediately notified front desk receptionist. Then next morning we told the housekeeper who was aware. The smears remained for our entire visit until our last morning when we submitted complaints to reception director again, it was finally cleaned at the time of our departure. "We felt welcomed from the moment we walked through the door. The room was comfortable and well appointed. The free breakfast was very European and delicious. Transportation around the city was free to hotel guests and easy to use. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay. "

"We were welcomed and checked in warmly by reception. We had also pre-registered online by the welcome email from Hotel Baren. Their staff went the extra mile to provide extra latex pillow and fixed the safe locking error when requested. We booked the Comfort room which faces the back of the surrounding buildings but we figured the view is likely to be due to the different sizes of the room. "Very good stay with very friendly and professional staff and great breakfast. Fantastic location in the historic center. We requested extra duvets as the 2 single ones given were not sufficient, especially in January which the staff gave us without a problem. There is only one liquid soap in the shower which you need to grab to wash hands. Didn’t see any recycling bins but maybe the system is different in Basel. Would return as it’s a great place to stay in this city. "
