Falling into disrepair
This property would have been stunning 10 or 20 years ago, but sadly is falling into a state of disrepair, whch made it a difficult place to be in October. The garden is very overgrown, obscuring the view of the ocean almost entirely along the terrace. One of the main problems is a giant fig tree in the nextdoor garden, which blocks all the light. You can still see the ocean from the top bedroom, over the top of the fig tree. Many spiny centipedes needed removing from the house, and from anything we accidentally left on the floor. There isn't enough furniture in the house – living area has two small and mucky armchairs, and four garden furniture chairs, plus a small circular table. More plastic garden furniture chairs and a huge table outside.
Plates, serving dishes and utensils were dirty; bbq griddles and tools were dirty, all needed washing before we could use. Kitchen cupboards etc sticky to touch. House smelt of smoke from uncleaned log burner + damp. Bathrooms seemed cleaner, but everything dusty & lots of leaves/debris had blown in.
The coast path to Deia is next to the house which is a lovely walk. The road down to the house is crumbling, overgrown, and often terrifying, we were warned in advance and managed it, but the hire car was scratched to bits. We began parking next to the restaurant Bens D'Avall instead (uses a proper road down), crossing the dry stream using the steps for hikers, to join the lane, and walking the last 200 m or so.
