Great area to stay in with friends or go hiking! Large yard perfect for dogs and campfires, and pretty close to hiking trails which is very convenient for group traveling.
It is a great place for a relaxing weekend with family
It is exactly as listed. It was comfortably close to Gettysburg, so it made for easy day trips. It was nice to sit outside with the fire pit at night. The piglets were adorable! The feeding directions were easy to follow. My son loved one of the smaller goats and is asking for us to go back so he can see him again.
We loved being out in the countryside with beautiful views of the pond and woods. There is a beautiful little stream that runs through the property, too. The house is spacious and has great views and a charming built-in cabinet in the kitchen. The animals are a real highlight. The Billy goat is a character and very friendly and the newborn kid was so sweet and soft! We went to nearby parks for hiking and fishing and had a great and restful getaway!
We appreciated our accommodating hosts. Clean sheets and overall clean place to stay. It was a farmhouse so it had the typical critters that live in the country. Not too many farm animals left, only goats and peacocks. :( my daughter was sad. Still, I would come back again…we loved fishing!
Very cool place, what we expected, a few things to know before you go.
Overall, we loved the home. It was reasonably priced, well stocked, and check in/out was a breeze. The goats and peacocks were awesome, and definitely a highlight of the trip. Would definitely stay again and recommend. A few things to note: It is an old farm house, so it is a little drafty (socks or slippers). It was clean in the sense that it was sanitary, but old farm house dust and such. Wifi was a little slow. Good enough for emails and iPad, not great for webex meetings. Cell service is non-existent. Used wifi calling with limited success.
If you are looking for a comfortable, no fuss place to relax, this is it.
My spouse, friends and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Pleasant Valley Farmhouse. We sat on the deck, we enjoyed the view--willow trees, pond and open space and enjoyed our meals in the pleasant room next to the kitchen. The buildings gave us the impression we were truly on a farm, and although we didn't feed the animals, we saw the goat and heard the peacock.
Our rides on the back roads, lemonading through the rural countryside contrasted to our trip to Hagerstown and our visit to the Museum a Medicine, a wonderful display of historical relics and dioramas of the Civil War.
The inside was tended and clean and suitable to our needs, and the owner assured me the outside accumulation of garbage in the shed would be picked up after we left. The only thing that inhibited us from walking the property was the tall grass surrounding the buildings

Stay at the Farmhouse
Pros: Communication with Michael was very easy and he responded quickly. He orchestrated early check in for us as well. Fire pit was nice but you should probably bring your own chairs unless you want to carry deck chairs down to the pit. If you have kids they will like to see the animals. We were surprised to receive very detailed instructions about how to feed all the animals twice a day. I guess it’s optional but just know that is a thing and you should bring muck boots if you plan on doing this. There is a cute winery very nearby (Red Heiffer)-the wine isn’t great but nice atmosphere and good food. Lots of hiking nearby!
Cons: Our last day there was definitely a mouse that ate through a banana we had out. Not shocking for a farmhouse and Michael said he would take care of it. The couch smelled like dog. The blankets and sheets didn’t seem super clean to me or my friends. The peacock is incredibly loud-bring earplugs or white noise maker.
Overall this was a good relaxing weekend with the company of the farm animals to tend to. The house was nice and the area was quiet and peaceful. Picked this property specifically for the pigs, last year we went to the islands and swam with the pigs for our anniversary. So as silly as it seems after confirming with the host, there were no piggies. So we were very disappointed. We were allowed to check in a little early, the host told us there was no reservations before my date. We got there and the house had not been cleaned or set up, so we contacted the host and the cleaning people were there quickly.
Not to the owner:
It was concerning the amount of standing water on the basement floor. Also there was a large tub sitting under the pipes with stagnate water in it. The toaster does not work. There was no remote for the upstairs TV, which we love to watch TV in bed, contacted the host again, we were told to use the remote for the downstairs TV. They are different brands, no luck. There was also stagnate water sitting in the bottom of the dishwasher that was slimly and under the kitchen sink was damp with water, there was a paper towel roll that had soaked most of it up. You may have some plumbing issues.
The house had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. Nice and secluded for a quiet stay. Some lights didn't work, including the lights in the basement near the washer and dryer.
Above our expectations! Beautiful home and property. Very clean! Everything needed was supplied. The concerns that we all shared were the wasps on the back porch that seem to be nesting behind the bottom porch outlet and 3 small nests under the table that we removed because one of us was stung, right outside of the back door is a soft deck board that someone may eventually fall through and the small space for the gorgeous peacocks. We definitely suggest a larger peacock pen. An awesome back bottom and top porch, front porch, pond and back yard to enjoy! Very peaceful and relaxing environment. We highly recommend!!

Quick weekend getaway
Was a good weekend to just relax. Despite rain all day and unable to hike, was still a relaxing.
One of our top 3 trips as a family. We will definitely be back to enjoy more time at the farm. The goats and pigs were so entertaining. The land was beautiful. Fly fishing right near by and quality time with our child who is a student at MSMU only 20 minutes away.
What a sweet treasure💕
This farmhouse is a wonderful getaway spot. It sits on beautiful land, with plenty of yard to run around, a pond, farm animals, woods to poke around in, and right by Cunningham Falls State park. The house is simply furnished, but has everything you need to stay. The animals are fun to feed, and the outdoor space is the real jewel. We ate every meal outside, made a fire in the fire pit, and ran around to our hearts content. The owners were responsive, and answered all our question. Would definitely go back. Highly recommend.
We didn’t spend much time at the farm aside from sleeping and tending to the animals, but it was quiet and comfortable with plenty of room for the family. We enjoyed our stay, and it was close to local attractions and restaurannts.
The house is in a great location and was very peaceful. Check in and out was easy. However the house was not very well kept, the fridge was leaking water, the toaster didn't work, the trash hadn't been taken out and there was standing water in the basement. It's a rustic experience and there is no cell service and thr WiFi is very slow. It's great to get away from it all.
This is the second year we stayed and enjoyed it just as much as last year. There's so much to see in Gettysburg and the surrounding area. We love the quietness of the property.
