superb the only word for it
My wife and I read all the reviews on this particular holiday apartment and couldn't find a bad one and its not until you go and see for yourself that you realise why. I think I can say that this was the most relaxing holiday we have ever had. Ken and Barbara were terrific they were always on hand should you need them, but left enough space to make you believe you were on your own. The apartment was clean and very well looked after ,we called it home and it felt like it. The walk back up from the town was mentioned in most of the reviews and it wasn't easy I have to say, but I am an over weight 60 year old recovering from a complicated broken leg a year ago, but I managed it every day for 14 days some times twice a day so don't let that put you off. Every time I reached the apartment I felt a little inspired. With the elevated position comes a great view and should you wish to lay by the pool you can watch the ferry from Skiathos arrive, complete a complicated turn to reverse in, unload and shoot off again. If you are thinking of booking this holiday apartment don't hesitate, the owners are wonderful people, the location is superb and the apartment feels like home. Enjoy we are already envious.

Seclusion and Bliss
We were delighted with our stay here.. It was beyond our expectations and a pleasant surprise to find it situated looking out over the town of Skopolos. We enjoyed the walk up the hill each day and felt like we were retreating to our own haven. The owners were lovely and helpful and the apartment was beautiful with lots of the owners original art works making it feel very special.

Total Relaxation
What a unique venue and location. This property has the feel of a French Gite and is perfectly situated for a life detox. The walk up to the apartment is certainly worth the effort with the stunning views that greet you. The hosts made us feel at home and provide us with generous amount of their home grown produce. The island is spectacular and certainly merits a return journey. Cat lovers will be particularly happy as Ken and Barbara cater for an number of wild cats that live within close proximity to there house. Great holiday and will certainly return.

Best view of Skopelos
We had a lovely week with Ken and Barbara in their apartment overlooking Skopelos town. The view from the terrace is absolutely stunning and the pool a huge bonus for an apartment for 2. We hired a scooter which was fantastic for exploring the island and we ate at lots of different tavernas and restaurants in the town. Ken and Barbara are incredibly welcoming and such lovely people. They look after lots of local cats and spend a fortune each week on cat food. They are on hand to give advice when needed and are super friendly and kind but completely respect your privacy at the same time. Thank you Ken and Barbara for looking after us so beautifully!

Perfect getaway
If you are looking for peace and tranquility with lovely views then look no further. On our arrival Ken picked us up from the port and took us to the local supermarket which was much appreciated. On arrival at the villa we just fell in love with the place and the fantastic view over the bay and the added bonus of our own private pool. The apartment was nice and comfortable with everything you need including WiFi, another bonus. Ken and Barbara were on hand if you needed anything but not intrusive, leaving us to relax and enjoy our time there. The villa was about 15 minutes walk from the main town and the walk back up the hill gave you an opportunity to burn off some calories after enjoying a meal at any one of the lovely eateries in town. We hired a car to explore this beautiful island with lovely beaches and the apartment was the perfect base and a joy to return to with the lovely surroundings and pool. The apartment is great value for money and would recommend booking early to visit in 2019 to enjoy this little gem. Thank you Ken and Barbara, we had a wonderful time. Paul and Karen, September 2018

A little piece of heaven
Set high on a hill over the beautiful harbour of Skopelos Town - this hideaway is a place to rest, relax and recharge. Terrific accommodation, very private set in charming olive groves - a magical place. Ken and Barbara on on hand if you need anything but mostly all you need is quite, sunshine, swimming and Skopelos. Gorgeous Art Pieces adorn the walls ( all their own work) - to create a creative haven of calm and contentment. Very comfy sofa in the lounge was a bonus on the days it was just too hot..time to chill with a beer and relax some more. Loved the island - we chilled for a few days then hired a car for adventures all over. Lots of beautiful bays to explore and enjoy. We love swimming & snorkelling so weren't disappointed. Great walk down the hill - would recommend a taxi back up..it's just too hot..doable though if you fancy. Very quiet around, just the sound of the goat herd sometimes, the cicadas and the breeze to while a way the day - just lovely! x

Stunning location
What a stunning location. The views from the apartment are incredible, we spent many a morning watching the jousting between the eagles and crows which were soaring above the trees on one side of the house and the comings and goings of the boats in the harbour on the other whilst lounging in the pool or on the comfortable sunbeds. The apartment is a haven for two and although it is the ground floor of a villa occupied by the owners you feel as though you are in a private dwelling. Ken and Barbara were so kind and helpful and on our arrival Ken picked us up from the port and took us shopping for essentials. The walk into the town may seem quite arduous but it only took fifteen minutes to get from the apartment to town. We walked there and back everyday stopping at Swell Bar for a nightcap before we set off up the hill enjoying the night sky and watching out for shooting stars. Skopelos is such a magical place with many hidden gems, it was like going back to the 1980s at times. Some beaches were obviously very busy filled with sunbeds and waiter service from the beach bars but if you take some of the tracks from the main road down to the coast you can find some amazing beaches that were not as busy with such clear waters and clean sands. We took a boat trip, opting to pay more for a trip with less people on it and had the best day with LATO cruises around the island of Alonisos. We were fed and watered and taken to the most stunning beaches, we had a total of 14 people on the boat compared to others which had well over 40 people on board a small boat. Anyway, back to the apartment... We had an amazing holiday in an amazing place and would happily return in a heartbeat. Thank you Ken and Barbara for a truly relaxing and memorable stay.

The most relaxing holiday we've had in years!
We have just returned from the most wonderful week staying in Ken and Barbaras 'away from it all' apartment overlooking Skopelos town, the port and the hills in the distance. With a wonderful pool all to ourselves, a view to die for and the company of our charming hosts who respected our privacy but were always on hand to offer advice about the good places to eat and things to do, we had the most fabulous holiday. Ken very kindly met us at the port took us to the supermarket to pick up some shopping before driving us home. The minute we arrived we knew how lucky we were to have found such a special place. The apartment had everything we needed and the air conditioned bedroom and ceiling fans were most welcome in the warm nights. The walk up the hill is a bit steep but great exercise and with the promise of a cooling swim at the end, it was never a problem. We wish we had stayed for 2 weeks and very much hope to return one day.

Private Villa with a Stunning view!
I am so delighted to have found this villa! For an extremely reasonable price - we had total private access to the pool and whole lower outside area and overlooked the best view of Skopelos Town. We were reassured however, not to be totally alone as Ken and Barbara are based on the same site. They give you total privacy whilst being around to help with anything you need. The walk from town is fairly steep and the first three nights - we'd walk in and get taxis back up as I am 16 weeks pregnant. The taxis would charge more because of the hill so we walked up the last three nights and it was fine! If you're a walker - you won't find the walk a problem. Ken also offered to come and get us if we were stuck. Ken and Barbara were very generous and Barbara even gave us a beautiful pottery gift for our baby to take away. It was a perfect babymoon and I urge people to book this gem whilst you still can. It's extremely to find private accommodation of this quality for two people!

Great week
We have just got back from a fabulous week here. The accommodation is lovely and was perfect for my daughter and I. The apartment was so clean and facilities just what we needed. Outside, the poor and terrace were lovely, the views are phenomenal. It is incredibly peaceful. Ken and Barbara were so friendly and always very helpfuL. It is 15 minute walk into Skopelos town. We ate out at different restaurants every night except one. It is quite a hike back to the apartment as the last part is quite steep. More so for me than my twenty something daughter. We got taxis on the last two nights once we realised how cheap it was! We would definitely recommend this lovely place to stay. Thank you Barbara and Ken.

September paradise
All the positive points in earlier reviews proved 100% accurate. Being fit earlie 50s UK walkers we didn't find the walk to/from town particularly challenging in the Sept warmth. The ceiling fans in both rooms are infinitely preferable to the air conditioning (that is also provided but that we did not use). Well balanced fan blades and fully functional variable speed they allow a cool nights sleep to be achieved without feeling dried out when you wake in the morning.

An idyllic hideaway
We returned yesterday from a wonderful fortnight in Villa Karavou. After a very stressful and busy year we needed a complete rest to recharge our burned out batteries and we certainly weren't disappointed. We arrived on the Flying Dolphin from Skiathos and the owner, Ken had arranged to pick us up from the harbour but we were diverted to another, more sheltered harbour at Agnodas, due to "bad weather" (it looked like a mill pond to us) so we had to call Ken an without hesitation he came to collect us there, calling into a local supermarket on the way to the Villa, enabling us to stock up on the essentials (like Mythos and local wine!). We fell in love with the villa from the moment we laid eyes on it but who could fail to do so with its amazing view of Skopelos Town and Harbour. The villa is located quite high on the hillside at the far end of the town and is built within an ancient olive grove surrounded by colourful flowers and shrubs. The spot is completely secluded and we had exclusive use of the beautiful swimming pool during our stay. It was absolutely idyllic with no traffic noise or any other noise for that matter bar the singing cicadas and the occasional barking dog! There are sunbeds located at either side of the pool so if you're a sun- worshiper like me you can follow the sun around the property. We watched the sun come up (once!) and watched it slip behind the mountain most evening with a glass of wine by the pool. The villa itself is small but very well equipped - can't say we cooked much at all but could have done so easily if we'd chosen to. We walked into Skopelos Town every evening and enjoyed eating out - the restaurants were many and varied. Our personal favourite was Olivo set in gardens of the old Olive Oil Factory. We often concluded our evening with a visit to Mercurius Cocktail bar overlooking the harbour - lovely intimate little bar serving a vast array of cocktails. There are several comments on here about the steep walk back to the villa and I agree, it's not a walk for anyone who is unfit but we walked it at least once a day, sometimes twice and didn't find it a problem. In fact it was very pleasant if (although a little sweltering if you walked it in the heat of the day). Our hosts Ken and Barbara were lovely and made us most welcome while giving us plenty of privacy. They spoiled us with fresh lemonade and wonderful snacks. Ken also drove us to catch our return ferry at 6,30am. We highly recommend!

Fantastic Holiday!
What a gem! We spent three weeks staying at Barbara and Ken's apartment and we had a fantastic time. The apartment was well equipped and the pool and garden area were stunning. The view over the bay towards Skopelos Town was amazing and the peace and tranquility of the location made it very difficult to drag yourself away from the pool to go exploring! Having said that we did make the most of our holiday by hiring a moped to get us in and out of Skopelos Town and we also used it to visit other towns and monasteries. If you are good walkers then the apartment is ideal, we consider ourselves quite 'fit' but we did choose to use the moped to get us up and down the hill to the apartment. It is a super walk down but we decided to hire a moped which we drove half way into town and then walked the rest. It was also very useful for getting us home at the end of the evening. Having said that, please don't let this put you off staying here as taxis were reasonably priced and the location is really worth the extra effort. This was our third trip to Skopelos after a ten year break and we were slightly concerned that the 'Mama Mia' fame might have spoilt the island but this was not the case at all. Skopelos Town was busy on an evening but other places we visited remained fairly unchanged with just a few beaches cashing in on the 'Mama Mia' hype which we chose not to visit. The beautiful church on the hill was just as we remember, including the hundreds of steps to get to the top, the only change was a tarmac road to get to it rather than the old dirt track that used to be there so a huge improvement!. I cannot recommend this apartment to you strongly enough. Barbara and Ken made us so welcome and even shared some of their home produce with us, including some amazing lemon olives! I can still taste them now. They were discreet in their attention and yet friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble! We have already recommended this apartment to friends who are hoping to visit very soon and we will definitely be back for another holiday before too long. Barbara and Ken, Thank you for helping us to have one of our best holidays ever!

Stunning
We have just returned from a very memorable week in this gorgeous villa. Barbara & Ken were perfect hosts; even giving us a lift at 6.30am for our 7am ferry. The views over Skopelos were stunning. The villa had all you could wish for. The private pool was a lovely way to cool off after a perfect day. Buses in Skopelos are reliable, so sightseeing is not an issue. Car hire when we went in September was also very cheap at 25 euros a day. Restaurants and bars are plentiful, all downhill going, but a little bit of an uphill hike coming back Paradise

Beautiful hideaway!
Beautiful house, Ken and Barbara made us very welcome. Fell in love with the island and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was like a home from home. Can't wait for another visit. Didn't have to rent a car, although a steep walk home, but after the wonderful food of the village it helped work off the calories.

Best of Both Words on Skopelos
Wow, stayed at Villa Karavou for a week earlier in July and it was brilliant. A villa for 2 people with our own private terrace and pool, and you can walk into Skopelos Town quite easily (as the description says but you never can tell). On half the nights we walked back and on others we caught a (very cheap) taxi - well we were up late with the World Cup on!! Inside the villa there are lots of home comforts which you don't expect in Greece. Ken and Barbara make fantastic hosts too, as others have already said. They are very helpful and friendly but not overpowering. We really warmed to them. I would definitely recommend a stay here. Oh .... did I mention the view - stunning.

Cant wait to go back!
We are just back from the lovely apartment at Villa Karavou after our best holiday in our favourite Greek island. The location must be the finest in Skopelos with lovely views of the town and bay, tucked away in the olive groves with amazing wildlife and unspoilt countryside. The peaceful walk back from town is well worth it, we saw three pine martens one evening! The apartment has everything you need, comfortable, well-equipped and private. The art work created by Barbara an Ken make it so much more interesting than other apartments we have stayed in. To have a private pool in an apartment for two people is rare and the view from the poolside must be the best on the island. The friendly owners are keen that your stay is the happiest and with helpful suggestions about restaurants and places to visit but are anxious not to intrude on your privacy . We can't wait to go back!

A haven for two!
What a wonderful location in which to get away from it all. There are few holiday apartments close to a town, that are suitable for a couple (rather than a group) and yet where you have sole access to a private pool ? bliss!! The Villa has been built to allow maximum privacy to guests staying on the ground floor. The owners and occupants of the villa, Barbara and Ken are are very happy to help when required, but they never encroach on your privacy, you couldn?t wish for better hosts. The view from the pool area is magnificent, where you look over the olive grove and the town and harbour beyond. There is a nearby bar that boasts about this beautiful view, however if you stay here you can have it every day and night. The location is very close to town, however people with walking difficulties may find the journey challenging, due to the incline. The journey into town is downhill, which is fine. Don?t let the return journey put you off ? the distance is very small and there are plentiful taxis that will happily take you back to your door at very little cost. The town has enough bars and restaurants to allow you to vary your evenings, but you may fancy a few evenings in which is easy due to a fully equipped kitchen at the apartment. You will also enjoy looking at the artwork displayed which has been created by Barbara and which you can purchase if you wish to bring home. I wouldn?t hesitate in recommending a visit to Skopelos, especially if you were lucky enough to stay at Barbara and Kens lovely apartment.
