I really enjoyed the close location to the beach and other locations. I walked to everything . Most were under a mile. The room was clean and very comfortable. The back yard view from the room made me feel like I was in a remote location and not in town. I plan on coming back next year. I got to witness the September salmon run. Simply amazing sight to witness just a block away. 👍😊
Short walk to downtown, to totem park, crescent harbour and central market. Room of good size, bed comfortable. Bathroom clean and shared with only nextdoor room. Kitchen had all we needed to make breakfast, only a toaster was missing. We liked staying there and meeting other guests.
Our room was very clean with a bunk bed and a shared bathroom with the adjoining room . The kitchen had a refrigerator and microwave, and the grocery store was a 5 minute walk. The hostel was very quiet and close to the harbor, and an easy walk into town. We would definitely stay here again.
This hostel is centrally located and within walking distance to the local attractions and dining. The kitchen has all the amenities and the rooms are clean. Will definitely be back!

Liked: Cleanliness
If you aren’t into luxury and want to save a buck this is your spot. Clean room, reminded me of an old Alaska cannery bunk house. Shower had hot water and good pressure in the shared bathroom (but with nobody in the other room it was all mine).
Situated in a quiet neighborhood, this historic piece of Sitka is an easy, short and flat walk to town along the waterfront. Cut thru the woods to get to the Harbor Mt. Brewery on the other side of town.
My issue with my stay was with finding transportation to/from the airport until I stumbled upon Why Wait? Taxi. The local bus service does not service the airport.
I enjoyed my 36 hours in Sitka and the Tille Paul Hostel made the whole trip affordable.
Tillie Paul is a perfectly fine, no frills alternative to more expensive hotels in Sitka. It's simple and clean. The walk to town is still easy and you are moments away from the water's edge and very near to Totem Park, which is fantastic.
Super straight forward instructions regarding getting checked in and the property was very convenient. Perfect location to be walkable to town but tucked off the main street. Classic older building but very comfortable and well kept

Disliked: Staff & service, amenities
Too quiet and constrained. Clinical would be the right word.
I never saw any staff and never had any questions answered. People seem to follow the rules to the extent they can mange to. There was poor instructions to access room panels / doorlock. You need to use the lock/unlock buttons, not just a provided code. Seems obvious after you know it but I was frustrated that my code didn't work for a moment before I had to figure out why. Poor equipment in general to the door fitments and the lock. Curtains draped over an old heater I wondered if it would kick on when cold and burn the place down. It was adequate but a bit annoying. The hours people are actually there (late night to sleep and early morning) seems awkwardly shared with & limited by other felt but unseen guests. The shared bathrooms are akwardly managed. 2 sets of locks would make a lot more sense here. Or some kind of toggle sign to inform the other guests of occupied status. $20 here and there would go a long way in a lot of places. The price is good in a pinch but they could do with less rules and a few upgrades to foster a much nicer atmosphere. At least it was fairly clean and tidy.
