Ski/Play then Retreat - 30 Day min. w/Fireplace - Cozy Escape-Incredible Views

Read the reviews of guests that have utilized this special cabin, over the last few years, as the ideal retreat after a day of winter outdoor recreation. With half a dozen world class Summit County ski resorts just 30-40 minutes drive, you can't beat this location as a best-of-both worlds as you escape the crowds each evening. Heeney based snowmobiling is just a 5 minute drive for even more handy fun and adventure! Watch or join in the ice fishing that takes places each winter on Green Mountain Reservoir.

As you turn off Highway 9 on to Heeney Road you will literally feel the stresses of the world melting away. The idyllic settings along this windy mountain road are a more intimate continuation of the scenic ride and vistas you've already been enjoying along your drive into the high country. Mountains and Otter Creek ranch, hiking to lower and upper Cataract lakes to one side, cows at pasture, large open meadows, and the lake below it all on the other. Once you are on the lake you are wowed by 360 views.

From one of the best view spots on the lake you find yourself transported into modern lake cabin charm and comfort at the Silver Sunset cabin. Rich wood tones envelope you from the tongue and groove ceilings with beams to the teak wood flooring and rustic wood accents. A window seat and huge viewing window, large sliding doors and great deck ensure exposure to the serene views, sunrises, sunsets, shadows playing on the hills across the reservoir, fox visitors, local bird life, deer and other wildlife.

A highly efficient real wood burning fireplace adds warms and glow to your mornings or evenings and supplements a modern forced air heating system. An open floor plan and full entertainment center allows for more enjoyment possibilities.

A full kitchen with new appliances awaits your simply delicious or creative gourmet cookery. Everything you need, a blender, crock pot, full range and oven, microwave, spices, oils and dishwasher for clean up along with a beautiful modern refrigerator.

A washer and dryer are handy for cleaning up after adventures as well as the shower and tub in the full, charming as all get out, bathroom.

Bedrooms with dressers, two nightstands each, bedside lighting, beds with quality, cozy, clean bedding, closets and carpet beneath your feet make for gems of rooms that are little retreats within themselves.

If you are treated to watching a storm blow in with all it's majesty upon the lake you will even enjoy the sound of rain on the new metal roof, in summer, and often a rainbow.

In the winter you will feel enveloped in nature's own painting of the extreme beauty of magical snow-scapes with serene views from your cozy spot.

Come stay and play with us. As a team, owners Mark and Autumn make themselves highly available to ensure a perfect stay.

4 Guests allowed, pet friendly with deposit. Summit County regs require 30 minimum stay. Contact owner with any questions before, during or after your booking.

Cozy cabin in a great location
Loved our 5 week stay at the cabin. Epic views of the frozen lake. Nice and cozy when we wanted to stay in, but close enough to all the ski hills and town for when we wanted to get out. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Autumn was very communicative and helpful.

Good view of the lake, nicely decorated, relaxing
We had a great four day stay. The nights were cool and the days were warm. We found plenty of fishing opportunities in the area. If you stay here be sure to check out Cataract Lake which is close to the cabin.

Quaint cabin with serene views
We had a beautiful snowy stay at this cozy cabin. The decor is updated Colorado feel. The view is amazing sunrise and sunsets over the reservoir. It is off the beaten path quiet and serene. It's close enough for skiing but quiet evenings

Wonderful Escape
The Bishop's were wonderful hosts. The location was quiet and perfect. Incredible views in a majestic landscape. We really appreciated the subtle details of design and hospitality in the cabin. They responded quickly with any needs we had. We will be back when in the area!

Highly recommend
Absolutely incredible experience staying here. The cabin itself is well stocked to feel like home, but the view is really the best part. Waking up to it can be the highlight of a lot of days that you are not hiking in the area. It’s right around the corner from Upper Cataract Lake Trail, which is very impressive if you can manage the 12-mile hike. The host is very generous with firewood and is very communicative. If you have a 4wd vehicle, I highly recommend driving up FS-200 (to the left out of the reservoir) and going up to Williams peak up the mountains across from the reservoir. A genuinely unforgettable experience staying at this cabin. Will likely be back.

great cabin overlooking the lake
i stayed at this vrbo for around 6 weeks while I waited to close on my new house. It was very clean when me and my 2 dogs checked in. The views are amazing from the deck or living room - green mountain reservoir with the mountains behind it. very relaxing and quiet neighborhood which was a combination of weekend 2nd homeowners and full time residents. weekly garbage pick up by the property management company since I was staying for several weeks. The fireplace/stove looked great, but it wasn't quite cold enough to try it out. It has been updated nicely and my pups and I stayed until the final hour to check out - great place to stay.

Cozy Cabin in Heeney, CO
We stayed for two nights and had a great experience! The cabin is clean, peaceful and has beautiful views from the deck. It came with great amenities and was well-stocked with everything you could need from the kitchen, to bathroom, to entertainment center. One pan was a bit sticky, but other than that they have everything you need to prepare your own meals. At night, the fireplace was a very nice feature. The owners Mark & Autumn were very responsive and put a lot of effort into making the cabin feel "homey" and comfortable. Would be perfect for one or two couples to stay. If back in the area, we would definitely stay again. Thanks again!

Kids got their white Christmas
Awesome place for my wife and two kids to spend a long holiday week at. While we did spend a lot of time at Copper Mountain we did spend a few days just relaxing or playing in the snow outside. Very clean and stock with all kinds of goodies to take care of day to day items such as cooking or having good wifi to play on your iPad. I noticed the firewood was freshly stocked a few times while we were there as well to keep the fire going in the evenings. The view over the lake was beautiful. We plan on making this a yearly trip at least so may have to use this place again.. Thanks

Charming Lodgings
This is an absolutely lovely cabin. My husband, myself and our 6 pound Havanese stayed for several days this July. The decor is warm and inviting and the cabin is immaculately clean. Your first impression upon opening the door and immediately looking out the sliding glass doors to the deck and the huge reservoir beyond will be "Ok this is going really well"!!!! The cabin is well stocked and the beds comfortable. Try Cataract Lake for a picnic lunch and nice hike around the lake and the store in Kremmling is an easy place to grab groceries, baked goods, camping supplies, etc. We took a drive up to Steamboat had lunch and visited Fish Creek Falls. There is horseback riding not far from the cottage off of Highway 9 north. The deer visited almost every day. We owned a cabin we treasured for years, this was a wonderful reminder of the peaceful, healing nature of lovingly cared for retreats.

Great Cabin and View
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Green Mountain Reservoir cabin. The hosts, Mark and Autumn, responded quickly to our reservation and any questions we had. The interior of the cabin is beautifully decorated. It was a true luxury. The kids loved spending time inside with the DVD player and large selection of DVDs, playing some of the many board games made available, and just relaxing on the deck with the lake view. We were able to visit all around the areas nearby the cabin (we found a nice creek area at the bottom of the dam via access road) and the views off the back deck are spectacular. It provides a great sunrise view in the morning as the sun rises over the mountains. The rooms were all clean and the kitchen was stocked with all of the items needed for us. It was the first time I’ve been at a place with a sky view so clear you could see the Milky Way slice in the sky (just google night view milky way and look at the images). We look forward to staying here again on our next visit to Colorado.

Charming, dleightful, peaceful
Our first peek into the front door we breathed a sigh of relief...this sweet house was exactly as pictured-cozy expansive and it exuded warmth. As we walked inside, we realized it was even more than we hoped for. Every detail made the cabin cozy, peaceful and was thoughtfully presented with inviting places to sit and take in the beautiful setting of the wide open lake.. From the main room with a wonderful leather couch that would call to us for napping, to the real fire place and the lovely bathroom, with plush towels and soft linens...it was cozy. . I wish we had more time to play and just hang out but we were on a creative mission and this home inspired at the highest level. We loved the large deck for sunset viewing, barbecuing and the sweet little animals that came by to visit but mostly we loved the open sky star viewing at night. Fantastic hiking was right nearby loaded with wild flowers. For a sweet hang out place enjoy the little front porch-a great place for listening to the aspen trees and rain showers. Looking forward to going back soon. Sigh.....

Relaxation Retreat!
What a perfect spot to get away from it all for a few days! The cabin is beautiful and very well appointed. My breath was taken away from the moment we walked in the door. The view from the back windows and deck is absolutely stunning. Peaceful sunrises, amazing sunsets! The cabin is very well decorated... think cozy, Pinterest-worthy, lake cabin chic! The beds are very comfortable... soft linens, fluffy comforters, plenty of pillows. This kitchen plus grill provided everything you need to cook your own meals. Hiking around Cataract Lake is beautiful. We enjoyed sitting on the back deck for our morning coffee, afternoon reading and evening cocktails. Our teenagers left their iPhones at home for this trip, and while they protested this at first, by the time we got to the cabin, they happily played checkers, board games and card games, all of which were provided at the cabin. I highly recommend taking an "unplugged" vacation at this cabin! It was exactly what my family needed. (note: the wifi and cellular worked great for my husband, who had to stay connected for work). Autumn, the owner, was very friendly and quick to respond to any of our questions. Thank you!! We will be back!!! :)

WOW!!! This is a complete gem!
My husband, 8 year old daughter and large dog stayed here for 5 days. The house is adorable. The beds are so comfortable with down comforters and plenty of pillows. We slept with the windows open, and wonderful lake breezes and geese calling gently woke us around 7 each morning. That was sleeping in big time for us. It was so cozy and relaxing. The kitchen was fully - and I mean FULLY- stocked with utensils and spices. We stocked up on groceries at Whole Foods 30 minutes away in Frisco and cooked every meal there in the kitchen. It was perfect and we missed nothing. The cabin is decorated so cozy and comfortable. It felt like being home, but on a lake! The house is actually on the hill, with the lake down below. You can't get there from the cabin, except to drive to the camp site, which is about 5 minutes away. This is okay because if you were right on the lake, you would have to deal with boat noise and bugs. We sat out each night an there were no bugs! And it was incredibly quiet and calm. The cabin is great, but the deck is AMAZING. You need to see it to believe it. The reservoir was cold in August, but we were brave and swam and waded out every day. We found a wonderful spot where we could swim to rocks and watch the crazy people jump off the cliffs across the lake. There was even a sandy beach there. You should plan ahead and bring a boat or float devices because this late in the season, we didn't find any at any stores in Frisco. We also did many hikes in the area - Cataract loop, which passes a waterfall, and Surprise Lake, etc. The views were incredible and the trails were well maintained, without being over-run by people. We brought our large, old dog and young daughter on the hikes and everyone had a blast! Autumn was absolutely wonderful. She reminded us to watch the meteor shower and she was available for every question we had. This is a cabin in the country, so you have to expect things to be different. The water smells a little funny, but, as Autumn says, bring bottled water to drink and cook with, and you are fine. There was a small issue with the water pressure when we were there, but Autumn responded immediately with a solution, and had a repair person out the same day. We spent the week basically holed up, but it looks like there is a lot of day trip options to Steamboat Springs, Aspen, Frisco and so on. This is a wonderful and amazing place to be. So magical. Do not pass it up! Book it today!

Wonderful cabin with a full view of the reservoir
This was an amazing location and the cabin was just enough space for a small party like us (2 adults, 2 dogs). It was nice to be in a quiet out-of-the-way spot but to also have all the stuff of modern life down the road in Silverthorne/Frisco/Breckenridge, plus the hotsprings in Steamboat are only an hour away! The best part for us was the hiking that is within 20-minutes. Definitely check out Acorn Creek Loop (go clockwise!) and the various lake hikes just behind Heeney in Eagles Nest Wilderness. Thanks for a great stay!
