Cozy cabin at Inn at Lake Roberts

This charming cabin at Inn at Lake Roberts offers a soul-restoring escape to the enchanting Gila National Forest and Wilderness. Though this cabin sleeps 6, it is relatively small for 6 people and will be quite tight with 6 adults. Whether you're looking for a romantic get-away or a place for a family reunion or large gathering, this is a lovely place to land close to Lake Roberts.

We give our guests full privacy, but are available if needed via messaging . We do have a caretaker on the premises who can also help with any issues. Please let us know if there is anything you need or if something on the property needs our attention.

Great location in the quiet community of Lake Roberts. Walking distance from Lake Roberts General Store (open seasonally). Lake Roberts is just over the hill for phenomenal Bass, Trout, and Catfish fishing; kayaking; or canoeing. There are several hiking trails, as well as ATV trails in the area.

This is a central location to what the Gila has to offer. Less than a mile to Lake Roberts; 20-25 minutes to Gila Hot Springs; 35-45 minutes to the Gila Cliff Dwellings. Close by trails to hike and ride are far too many to list!

In addition to your room/suite, all guests have shared access to the lit social pavilion for grilling and "hanging out" as well as the Fire Pit circle during times of low wildfire risk.

Comfortable cabin at the Inn at Lake Roberts (formerly Lake Roberts Motel) will give you easy access to hiking in the Gila National Forest and Wilderness; fishing at Lake Roberts; soaking at the Gila Hot Springs; birding or rock hounding throughout the Gila; or exploring the Gila Cliff Dwellings.

Our grilling/social pavilion offers a nice space to meet with friends, or cuddle with you partner on the sectional sofas around one of the fire pits for a romantic evening.

This cabin itself offers a full kitchen with a stove/oven, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, sink, dishes, pots/pans, utensils (cooking & eating). The circular dining table seats 4 comfortably.

There is an attached private netted patio with a table that also seats 4.

Sleeping arrangements include two Queen beds in one room and a full size sofa bed in an adjoining room. Each of these two rooms has a TV.

The nearest large airports are El Paso TX (3-hour drive) and Tucson AZ (4-hour drive). However, there is a small airline (AdvancedAirlines.com) that flies into Grant County Airport in Silver City from Phoenix, Albuquerque, and Los Angeles at a very reasonable rate. Rental Cars are available at the Grant County Airport through Silver Car Rental at 575-574-2350 (must reserve in advance).

Grant County Airport is about 1 hour from the Lake Roberts Motel.

The motel is located on "The Trail of the Mountain Spirits Scenic Byway". If coming from Silver City, you'll take Highway 15 to Highway 35. If coming from Mimbres, you'll come in on Highway 35 passing Lake Roberts to arrive at the motel.

Please take note that this is a fairly remote location. You will need to bring food, as the nearest grocery store is almost an hour drive (Silver City). The closest restaurant is about 20 minutes away (The Log Cabin) and has limited days/hours.

Cell service: There is NO cell service at the motel without logging into the WiFi. So make sure you print out instructions including the WiFi information and door code. You can connect to the WiFi from the parking lot if necessary.

Inclement winter weather: please note that Highway 15 and Highway 35 are not plowed on weekends and evenings. It is rare that we get enough snow to block roads, but we are in the mountains and it can happen (most years a couple of times). Please watch the forecast for Lake Roberts Heights, NM on WeatherBug leading up to your stay.

During the monsoon season (July/August) and beyond, we get heavy rains some years that can cause the arroyos to flow across Hwy 35. Again, watch the WeatherBug forecast leading up to your stay.

NOT a 6 room cabin...
Overall, our stay was ok. I organized a weekend getaway for myself, my mother (in her 80s), sisters, & nieces. 6 of us in total, for 3 and 1/2 days, and according to the listing, this was seemed like the right size. Thankfully, our mother ended up not coming, & we are very grateful. The listing is WAY too small for 6 people. It may sleep 6, but that's about it. If you are in town to go fishing & need a place to sleep, then this is the place. This was supposed to be a weekend getaway, & we were on top of each other. It was nice to have the outside enclosed patio because there would not have been room to eat inside. Also, the kitchen is best to cook small meals. The bathroom supplies were sufficient for 2-3 people, but not for 6. As stated previously, I am VERY grateful that my mother did not come. We ran out of toilet paper, twice & it was difficult to get a response from the property manager. We left texts, emails, & voicemails & never got a response. Eventually, the young woman showed up with the TP. Luckily, two of us brought our own towels, otherwise we would not have had enough. The patio was locked when we arrived, & the door kept sticking. We would lock it at night, as it is screened in and for safety reasons. On our last day, we could not open the door. Much of our supplies were in that room, so we couldn't pack up. Again, we texted, emailed, & left voice mails & the young woman did not show up for a couple of hours. I would only rebook this room if it were for 3.
