We were traveling to Sanibel, to investigate our condo that was destroyed due to Hurricane Ian. This area was the closest we could get to Sanibel. 10minutes after I made reservation, I realized our dates were one day off. I immediately called Expedia, explained the situation, asked for them to cancel OR see if the property was available one night earlier (which was our intent). It was not available. I asked Expedia to cancel, given the extraordinary circumstance. Expedia attempted to contact the owner over for several days, with no response. After the fact, the owner refused to issue credit. It appears the owner shirked their duties (answering their phone, monitoring the needs of their guests, etc), and took advantage of travelers who were dealing with extraordinary, act of God circumstances. It is evident that the owner of this property will take advantage of any guest, regardless of the circumstance. Potential guests should be aware of this when considering renting from this owner.
