Victoria is the busy, vibrant and growing capital of British Columbia. Just as in many cities in BC, Canada and likely other countries in the world, we are experiencing a shortage of housing. In dealing with this situation there are several new buildings being constructed in the downtown core, and elsewhere. We recognize that there could be some daytime noise but are confident that it will not interfere with your time in beautiful Victoria.
Things To Do
1. Roberts Bay Bird Sanctuary
Roberts Bay is part of the Shoal Harbour Bird Sanctuary which was established on April 10, 1931 and includes 144-hectare of sheltered bays and extensive intertidal mudflats in North Saanich and Sidney. More than 40 species of marine birds are regularly observed in this MBS, as well as more than forty species of passerine (perching) birds in the uplands, many not found elsewhere in Canada. Pacific great blue herons, a British Columbia listed species at risk, are frequently seen in large numbers feeding in the shallow mudflats.
This is about a 5 minute walk from here. Just walk west on Malaview then north on 5th St. to the end.
2. Sidney
Downtown Sidney is about a 10 minute walk. Just head east on Malaview then south on 5th St. until you get to Beacon Ave. If you head east on Beacon Ave. it will take you to the ocean where there are Piers you can walk out on and stroll along the sea wall.
If you head south on the sea wall you will come across the ferry terminal that can take you to Anacortes, Washington. It is currently not running because of Covid.
Just south of the terminal is a nice pathed walk way along the ocean that runs parallel to Lochside Drive.
Also, you can access the ocean beaches from Third St. just east of here. You can walk on most beaches when tide is low and walk all the way to town.
3. Butchart Gardens
Today, The Butchart Gardens is a National Historic Site of Canada. You'll find remnants of the original cement plant and millions of bedding plants in over 900 varieties awaiting you as you wander The Gardens.
Located at Brentwood.
4. Salt Spring Island
