The lodge was well signposted off the N2 and after a few km of dirt road, we came round a corner and Dave was smiling away and waving at us from reception. We did a quick sign, left the car and set off to the lodge. We were greeted by Christina who offered us a cool drink and showed us round whilst Dave took the luggage to our room. The main lodge was beautiful with sumptuous furnishing, lovely art, lots of outside spaces to sit and a stunning view over the waterhole and valley.
We were in Chalet 2, accessed by a beautiful wooden walkway and stone path. The room was lovely - a good size and very well equipped and there was a wooden verandah on which to sit and relax. The bathroom was a good size with big shower and full length window that overlooked the bush. There were plenty of soft towels and the bath towels were huge. Our bed was massive and the linens soft and crisp. Food was excellent and the wine selection was good.
Game drives were fantastic and Dave was a brilliant ranger, excellent at spotting wildlife, hugely knowledgable and very interesting and always stopped long enough for us to observe the animals - we learnt so much about the flora and fauna of South Africa.
This is a lovely place to stay, sumptuous and comfortable with very friendly and helpful staff (nothing to is too much) and five stars is not enough!!! Christina is marvellous and Dave is by far the best ranger we have ever had. Definitely going back.
