I arrived to a warm and enthusiastic welcome from the wonderful husband and wife hosts, who by their own admission are classic car ‘petrol heads’ (kit-cars a speciality). This traditional B and B has all the expected comforts and a breakfast menu ‘not to miss’ incorporating many home made options. A truly delightful stay; and I will definitely return.

Brown Hill Bed and Breakfast offers a truly enchanting experience, reminiscent of an idyllic escape into nature. The highlight of this charming retreat is undoubtedly its garden, which is nothing short of a whimsical paradise. The garden is meticulously landscaped, featuring a variety of vibrant flowers, lush greenery, and picturesque pathways that weave through the grounds. The setting feels like an angelic folly, with its ethereal ambiance enhanced by the presence of a serene brook at the bottom of the garden. The gentle sound of flowing water adds a calming backdrop, inviting guests to unwind and immerse themselves in the tranquility of the surroundings. This hidden gem is perfect for those looking to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life and reconnect with nature in a dreamlike setting. The rooms at the bed and breakfast are cozy and well-appointed, providing a comfortable and homely atmosphere. The hosts are warm and welcoming, ensuring that every guest feels like a cherished friend. Whether you’re enjoying a leisurely stroll through the garden, sitting by the brook with a book, or indulging in a homemade breakfast, Brown Hill Bed and Breakfast offers a magical escape that leaves a lasting impression.

Truly a home from home
We booked a twin room in Brownhill House for 5 nights to attend Shrewsbury Folk Festival. The property is conveniently situated to reach the festival site with a 25 minute drive avoiding Shrewsbury town centre. We had a most pleasant stay with Yoland and Roger who were most genial hosts. The room was comfortable and a cosy shared sitting area for all the guests was also provided. The room was serviced daily. Apart from the usual amenities, books and other reading materials were made available on loan. Guests are also invited to visit the garden, a 2 acre terraced wonderland full of colourful plants and unexpected items, as well as fruit and veg which supplemented the breakfast table. Breakfast was an amazing spread which included home- baked muffins. Most of all, however, Yoland and Roger are both interesting and interested in their guests. If you wish, you can have the most illuminating exchanges on a large range of topics. We just loved our stay!

Best weekend in a village B&B
From the moment we booked this B&B to the minute we left , we were treated like it was a 5 star hotel. Communications by email was great, check in was at our convenience, the welcome...oh my!! Second to none. Our room was just as it says in all their adverts, clean and comfortable, location was a bit far from shrewsbury, so one will need a car but Brownhill house's garden and hospitality made up for the distance. Yolanda and Roger are just lovely, guests are treated like families . Oh, as for breakfast, make sure you're hungry in the morning, it is lush! The owners are great and under rated. Their garden is absolutely beautiful. A national heritage. Thank you both for a beautiful weekend. The village of Ruyton X1 Towns is now on my map. We will come again.

The hotel is in convenient location for access to main routes to the attractions nearby. The room was comfortable. Breakfast was most enjoyable. Parking is easy. There is a large garden the owners take great pride in.

Return visit after 18 years
I first stayed at Brownhill in 2006 while I was helping my daughter to settle in to her first job, at PGL, Boreatton Park. To give her space and time to settle in, I stayed at Brownhill House each time she had a day off, for her first few weeks, and travelled myself in between visits (to show her that if Mum can do it, then so can she!). This is probably my last trip to the UK, and I chose Brownhill again as it's close to the Ironwork Centre near Oswestry. The place is still as lovely and inviting as before, and Yolande is just as lovely as she was last time. Breakfast was perfect for me again, and I'm really glad I booked to stay there again.
