Very Chinese
This hotel is typical China. Looks good from a distance, but if you look too hard, the truth is revealed. This place is big and “non-smoking”is more a suggestion than a policy. I guy was smoking at the check in desk as the clerk was telling our guide that the hotel was non-smoking. There were no designated non-smoking rooms, just rooms that were smoked in less. We lucked out and got a room that had been recently renovated, so it was passable. Staff was friendly and tried to be helpful, but English was very limited. Room was decent, but the devil is in the details. The extra pillows in the closet didn’t have pillow cases. 50% of the shower water ran out the door on to the floor, but there was an additional drain in the floor to catch the water. Could never seem to get the thermostat to work. Breakfast buffet was good They seem to be trying in this area. All in all, it’s no Waldorf Astoria, but it was $60 a night. A tremendous value and worth the money. It’s quirky, but I’d stay here again. With a little extra effort, they could make the place great.
