Add to that bicycling, river rafting, fishing, hiking, restaurants, theaters, museums, gift shops, and outlet malls. The list is endless!

A Note about our Road:
Part of the charm and quaintness of Story Book Cottage is its remote, secluded location. We are surrounded by 100's of acres of beautiful forest, as we are located within a subdivision of mostly undeveloped 5- & 10-acre wooded lots. Access to the cottage is via a gravel, and at times, bumpy road (approximately 3 min drive). We and our storybook cottage neighbors have elected to NOT allow the road to be paved, as doing so would allow the density to change from 5 & 10 acre lots, to small postage stamp size lots. This would make our little mountain desirable to developers who would bald our beautiful woods, build rows of cabins, and displace our wildlife. (Therefore, the road will remain gravel and on a monthly maintenance program). We feel blessed we are able to preserve and enjoy the experience of this little piece of smoky mountain heaven and, we are happy to share with our guests, the beauty of undisturbed nature and wildlife, that is far too fast becoming a rarity.

Pros and Cons
Pros: The host was very responsive and easy to work with. The place was clean and comfortable. The wooded setting was pretty and secluded. A fairly rough road to get to it, and quite steep in spots, but doable for most vehicles I think. We saw lots of wildlife, which can be exciting. Convenient to the park. Cons: Most of the wildlife we saw there was black bears, and they were there because of the food the hosts put out. Inside the cottage closet are two containers of "squirrel food," which seemed to be peanuts and corn and sunflower seeds. One container said that their critters were spoiled and liked to be fed at 630am and 330pm. Turns out, that's precisely when the bears would visit the very large feeder just outside the glass doors. The bears would were completely habituated to humans and showed no fear at all. Twice over a few days, a bear approached the yard while we were outside relaxing. We yelled and waved, but it didn't care at all and actually walked towards us. Once it stood just outside the glass door despite two dogs barking at it inches away. This behavior didn't feel completely safe for us, though the bears were not aggressive per se. More importantly, it's bad for the bears and puts them at risk of an incident. As they say, fed bears are dead bears. I know the hosts love the wildlife. I would just encourage them to consider the effects that the feeding station has on the safety of their guests, their pets, and the bears themselves.

Amazing Property
My wife and I took a short and last minute trip to Gatlinburg. I was looking for cabins and of course they were hard to find considering we waited last minute. I ended up looking on VRBO which I've never used before. The whole experience was amazing. Very easy to book and the property owner was awesome. The house and property was everything we could have asked for. Privacy and very well maintained. These pictures do not do it justice. We really enjoyed our time and plan on going back for longer next time.

Beautiful property!
My family of 4 to include a teenager and a 4th grader stayed at Storybook Cottage for Fall Break and had a wonderful time. We loved that they allow dogs, and we were able to travel with ours. The property is beautiful, and the house is very cozy. We were very comfortable with all the amenities, and it would be the perfect location for those wanting seclusion and to mostly stay in for their trip. There are a few things I want to mention that I think are helpful. Jodee is very upfront about the road condition, and please know that she is not kidding. We live in a rural area, are used to gravel roads and drive big trucks. The roads leading to the cottage are ROUGH. It's not just the gravel roads either. The worst is the paved portion just before the driveway. HUGE holes in the road. Be very careful. Secondly, Jodee also reveals that there are cameras in the outdoor spaces. Please know that there are multiple cameras in the outdoor spaces, and it does feel like you are being watched with every coming and going. Thirdly, there was no water in the stream while we were there, which I realize is an act of nature, but it was still a bummer. We did see a black bear close to the cottage, but it was also a bit "staged" if you will. Someone had left pumpkin and white beans hidden under some rocks near the driveway. My dog found it immediately and started eating it. I pulled him away to inspect it and then as if on cue, a black bear appeared there a few hours later to eat the food. Still very cool to see, but just be alert and aware that someone may be attracting them on purpose. Finally, there is 1 bathroom and it's tiny. The shower ceiling is very low, and the toilet is smaller than standard size. This didn't affect our trip, other than 4 people needing the bathroom at the same time, but I didn't see it listed anywhere and I would have found that info helpful ahead of time.

Family time in Heaven
Hi, This was a vacation with our grandkids. The first time they have ever saw mountains and actually been out of Florida. They had the time of their lives!! The SBC was immaculate as it always is! The property was beautifully maintained and it truly is a slice of Heaven! The grandkids enjoyed all the wildlife coming up to the property and feeding the birds, squirrels, chipmunks, and hummingbirds hovering over us like they were glad to see us. Beautiful trees and soothing breezes throughout our entire time at the SBC. A couple days of light rain, but it was a wonderful time. The SBC is located very close to everything and only about 20 mins from most of all of our plans for the grandkids. We enjoyed Dollywood for two days, and hit the strip in Pigeon Forge every day! Good food and great times as it always is while staying at the SBC! We stayed for 8 days and 7 nights and we wanted to stay longer. We absolutely love the SBC and Jodee is, and had always been a great host who is 100% committed to making sure this place is perfect! Thank you Jodee for an experience of a lifetime each time we’ve visited!!♥️ My wife has made this little piece of Heaven a permanent part of our vacation time each year. We just left and she’s talking of our next stay already! Affordable, perfect location, and just plain BEAUTIFUL all of the time!! We love this place! It had the same affect on our grandkids which are 6 & 7 and they are ready to return already as well. When you are there, no matter how long your stay may be, you feel right at home and all of the people in the area are very nice and pleasant to talk to and it just makes the entire experience so fantastic! Thank you again Jodee for being a great host and offering a product that is like no other in the area! Don & Peggy Strickland D J & Kylie Collins

Exactly what our family was looking for in a rental for our vacation! We loved being in the middle of the woods. No horrible traffic or noisy neighbors. We enjoyed the little creek on the property and loved seeing the wildlife play and scavenger for food. I really wish we had stayed at the cottage more but it was our first time and the kids wanted to explore Peigon Forge so off we went into the city. One thing I will say is being house shoes!! The floor is cold, and hard!! Everything else was perfect. Thanks for letting us stay!!

Just what I needed
Storybook cottage was exactly what I was looking for when I decided to take my pup to the mountains. It was a quiet place to relax, with so many amenities to keep you comfortable. The road to the home was a bit scary, but I also live nowhere with even hills, which could have played a factor. Would definitely stay here again if I have a brave driver :) I know my pup would also agree

We didn’t get to stay
Unfortunately we did not get to stay at the property due to the poor road conditions. Our Highlander was knocked out of line sliding & slipping up/down the “road/driveway/trail” to the house. We arrived not long after nightfall & the area was so dark that we could not see anything. We were charged for rut damage because we could not tell where the road ended & the yard began. We almost didn’t make it back out because there had been light rain throughout the day. You definitely need a 4-wheel drive to reach the property and you need to arrive during the day to be able to see where you are going. My in-laws were absolutely scared to death traveling the road & they were ready to go back home before the vacation began. They are elderly & may never get to travel far from home anymore. The house however looked beautiful & peaceful.

Loved it
My family of 4 had a wonderful time. The cottage is absolutely adorable. My two boys were obsessed with it. The kitchen is well stocked. We had a campfire and made smores, used the hot tub. Our German Shepherd was completely comfortable here. We saw a humongous bear on our last night! It totally completed the trip. Jodee was completely communicative through the entire process. The road is a bit intimidating and I made my husband drive it. Jodee texted me the night before we left to bring slippers and I'm glad I did with the cool tile floors. We would stay here again and I recommend it 100%. Thanks for a great weekend away.

Sure does look like a storybook :)
Yes, the road is "interesting" to get up there, but a 4x4 is not required (we saw a minivan go up/down just fine). Navigation of where you drive on the road is needed, but is relaxing once you reach the cottage. Jodee is very prompt with her communication and was very easy to deal with!

The Perfect Getaway! Storybook explains it perfectly!
We cant say enough good things about our stay at Storybook and Jodee as the host! We wanted a different experience than our typical Florida hotel/motel, so we looked up cabins and luckily found the listing for Storybook. It looked like a perfect fit and everything you see in the listing is exactly what you get! Jodee was great as answering any questions we had and gave us recommendations on places to go visit. The instructions to get to the cabin were specific and helped us navigate even in the pitch dark. I will say the drive up to the cabin is not for the unadventerous, my wife was pretty nervous the entire time. I would suggest arriving to the cabin your first day during daylight hours. We arrived at 10:30pm from Florida and it had rained pretty heavily that evening. The wet gravel road mixed with pitch black made for an interesting drive. I didn't mind it at all, but I enjoy the adventure of it and would absolutely recommend it. The property is beautiful once you get there! Once we left the cabin the next morning in daylight and we had our bearings and it was not an issue again, even for my wife. Every morning we were greeted by a whole family of squirrels, chipmunks, bunnies, hummingbirds literally just outside the glass doors. We even caught a glimpse of a large black bear on our last day! At night, you could see lightning bugs glowing all over the tree canopy. The cabin has two beds that were comfortable, plenty of towels and linens. The view looking out from inside the cabin is gorgeous and you are truly in your own little storybook world. We have boys aged 3 and 5 and they did not want to leave! They loved playing in the small courtyard and looking around the creek that runs along the house and driveway. We also set up the outdoor projection screen and enjoyed a movie outside with nature under the canopy. I am sure I am missing so much, but would HIGHLY recommend staying at this cabin, even my wife would say so, despite her fear for heights. Make sure you visit El Viras just down the street during your stay, this is one of my favorites places to eat in this area and probably one of the best in the entire area! The food trucks at the end of the driveway were pretty good as well. This cabin is just a 10-15 minutes drive to pigeon forge, gatlinburg and townsend. Its also just a few minutes from a back entry into the smokey mountain national park/cades cove. We highly recommend cades cove! YOU WILL NOT REGRET YOUR VISIT HERE!! :)

Magical
I cannot say enough good things about this property. The entire process was great from management to the stay itself. The stay was a much-needed break from reality, in a magical storybook setting, a perfect title for this home and surroundings. We had an experience with wildlife every day from bears, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks to fireflies and bees. The amenities were great and exceeded our past experiences in the Smokies with other rentals. Thank you!!!
