First and foremost, if you appreciate history and architecture, the pictures don't do it justice. The woodwork tooling and stained glass features are amazing! Stained glass ceiling fan light cover was beautiful! Home smelled clean (not old or damp). The correspondence with the property owner, the local property manager and also the housecleaner were great! Timely responses! We only saw the housecleaner because I messaged the Owner on the first night (the basement is locked off for insurance reasons and that is where the housekeeping laundry is done) When we came for dinner, I saw the lights were on in the basement (no one was down there, they had been left on accidentally) We know this because we looked through all the windows! The next day, the housekeeper came and was so nice, giving us recommendations of places to eat and see.
The yard is beautiful and the kitchen is modernized. With a 5 burner stove and 2 ovens, it was very easy for meal prep! and there's a trash compactor (this was so cool and I think I showed everybody what it did)!
My only negative thing to say is that I have always had access to Propane grills at rentals, so the learning curve with charcoal changed a few of my dinner plans.
This was a phenomenal experience! You can sit and visit over a cup of tea in the breakfast nook or eat in the formal dining. The table was so big to roll out family trees and puzzles!
So glad to have found this property so I could feel like royalty!! Oh and so so so many photo opportunities, like on the front steps with the lions!!
