Lovely rural farmhouse
Our stay at the Roost, a lovely renovated well-equipped farmhouse, was great. The setting was beautiful for those who want a county setting. Access to Schulenburg and nearby points of interest was easy.

A Boost from The Roost!
The Roost is situated on a hill behind a locked gate overlooking fields of lush foliage and farm animals. The large porches are the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the view. The inside is pristine and well stocked with everything you need for a relaxing or active vacation. The only negative might be the low water pressure as is common with farmhouses. It will definitely not be a deterrent for future visits as we plan to stay again and again! We loved every minute of our stay!

Back in Time
"The Roost" is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the country side. Upon entering the premise we were pleasantly surprised. All the pictures that were featured on the website are exactly what you see when you first drive up. We were able to sit and enjoy the natural beauty of the countryside and the sounds of nature including the cows conversing with each other. The kitchen is well equipped with eating utensils, pots, pans, dishes. This home is off the beaten path, therefore, the only traffic noise is from the vehicles that pass down the lane on the side of the house. Beds were also very comfortable. If you are looking for country atmosphere, this place is for you. We would definitely return if we are in the area.

Unexpected Pleasure
Having grown up in Schulenburg long ago, this visit, accompanied by intergenerational family members, surpassed all expectations. It was incredibly clean inside, and all of the amenities were exactly as described. Beds were comfortable upstairs and down. The antique furniture was appealing. My six-year-old granddaughter from San Francisco loved getting close to the cattle behind the fence. This is, after all, a working cattle farm. I especially appreciated how quiet the St. John area is, in contrast to the noisy urban environment where we live. The gentle southerly breeze from the Gulf of Mexico was exactly as I remembered it growing up locally in the 1940s and 1950s. Rocking on the front or back porch was a special pleasure.

The Roost at Mulberry Creek is one of best places we have stayed. Pictures and description of house is spot on. It is the most adorable farmhouse. It was nestled right in the middle of all the places we wanted to go. We will most definitely go back.

Best weekend ever
Our family had a wonderful time at the farm house. My toddler loved the cows! Very relaxing, house was better than the pictures and spotless. Kitchen was fully stocked with every kind of pan or utensil you would need. The owner was thoughtful and left fresh farm eggs for us in the fridge. We look forward to returning in the future. Thanks for having us!

Girls' Weekend
For a girlfriends weekend trip, five of us came to Schulenburg to visit the Painted Churches. The house was perfect for us with easy access to downtown Schulenburg and surrounding areas. The back and front porches were very relaxing with the rockers and just being able to enjoy watching the cattle graze. The Painted Churches tour/guide (Dennis) was wonderful and very informative. The restaurants and shopping in the area are very good and fun. Schulenburg is a great small town and this house is a perfect place to relax and unwind. Thank you for everything!!

Our stay at “The Roost” was absolutely phenomenal! We enjoyed going to the antique show in warrenton and spending way too much money. After, we enjoyed a nice bon fire with s’mores & games. We love the sunset here this is a nice piece of serenity! :)

Relaxing country weekend.
The property was super cute. Outside had a nice large well kept backyard with a fire pit, barbecue grill, picnic table and lots of toys (footballs and cornhole) for the kids. The front had a beautiful porch with swing and rocking chairs and a big parking area for multiple family vehicles in front that made access very easy. Inside was well appointed and super cozy but with enough space to separate kids from grown-ups during meals and downtime. Just a very relaxing weekend overall and a great place to stay. We intend to come back.

A Step Out of Time for a Family to Destress
We desperately needed a quick getaway to destress and recoup after spending weeks getting our house ready to sell. This was the perfect spot to take a weekend off while our house was being shown. The owner was very helpful and quick to respond to issues. The property itself is a beautifully restored farm house and the cows every morning were a delight, especially for our children. It felt like a step out of time and back in time to simpler days, with all the perks of modern life.

This is the perfect little spot in the country to stay while you are checking out the cute small towns in the area. The kids loved the outside space. It has quintessential country home charm. Ladies Getaway
This REAL farmhouse is so precious, kitchen and bathrooms stocked really well, comfortable beds, very nice bedding and plenty of fluffy white towels! A/C worked great! Indoor and outdoor games provided! We enjoyed sitting on the back porch watching the sunset with a glass of wine, and watching the cows! Loved reading about the history of the ranch and the family who originally settled there. Thanks for allowing us to use this beautiful place to make fabulous memories with great friends. Oh and thank you for the farm fresh eggs and bottle of wine!!

Mother-Daughter Weekend
My Daughter and I stayed at the Roost to do some shopping and relaxing and it was so nice. The weather was horrible but we still go out an did some shopping, it was always nice to get back to the Roost and just relax for the evening. The beds are awesome and everything was spotless. Would definitely recommend if you need a break from the city and just want to relax!

Wonderful Home
The Home was in the most peaceful country setting, decorated well in latest farmhouse style. Everything we needed for a fun weekend seeing blue bonnets, painted churches and other area sights. Extremely clean and well thought out. Our only hiccup was we did not receive gate code before we arrived around 5:00. But we were able to call number provided for guest service and a code was emailed right away. Would definitely return!

Peaceful Retreat
My wife and I stayed at the Roost for my birthday weekend and it couldn't have been nicer. The property was immaculate and contained everything we could have needed. The countryside was peaceful, beautiful and secluded yet close enough to restaurants and other services that made the weekend unique and special. We loved our stay and would definitely come back.
