North Yorkshire short break
Booked as a last minute break for retired couple who enjoy outdoor activities and rely on their own resources for meals, etc., this small but adequately appointed cottage was ideal. Only drawback is proximity to busy road and need to drive to enjoy local walks and other amenities. Friendly but unobtrusive reception. All good.

Lovely cosy little cottage, well heated and copious hot water with plenty of utensils and crockery in the compact kitchen, and perfect for our little family of us and 2 small Cavalier Spaniels to explore the North Yorkshire coast. Welcome pack was lovely and owners were very friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our week of exploring and were always within a couple of miles of the coastline. Visited Whitby, Scarborough, Cayton Bay and Robin Hood's Bay and even had mostly dry weather for the time of year! Would highly recommend for any couple wishing to explore the North Yorks coastline and we are really looking forward to booking up again for next Summer for further adventures with our Cavs!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cart cottage which is ideally situated for visiting Scarborough, Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, Ravenscar. Plenty of walks on the doorstep. The cottage is very cosy, not overlooked and the views are beautiful. The welcome pack was an added bonus. The proprietors are very friendly and approachable, gave advice on where to park in Scarborough, routes to take, etc. A wonderful weeks break, with glorious weather. What more could you want?

Lovely small, quaint, homely little place! This small cottage is located beautifully in countryside, but only a 15 minute drive from Whitby. The property is only small, but ideal for the quiet breakaway we were in desperate need of with plenty to do around the area and have a comforting place to return to after a busy day. The kitchen/living area situated downstairs along with a clean modern bathroom, and a spacious bedroom upstairs with plenty of clothes storage. The kitchen came with plenty of cooking facilities and a lovely welcome basket with bacon, sausage, jams and bread, all which were delicious. The garden was completely enclosed, ideal for our wandering dog, knowing she could have a potter about and be safe. Our only quibble would be that the property was roasting hot, as we struggled to work out how to adjust the heating, and the smoke alarm went off each time we cooked, but both were easily solved by just opening a window so nothing major! The owners were very welcoming and accommodating. Parking was only allowed at the entrance of the estate as the path is too narrow to drive up to the cottage, however the owner encouraged us to pull the car down as far as possible to unpack our car so we didn't have to carry our bags too far. The cottage was situated on a farm/butchers, which did not affect our holiday as there was zero noise (not that we expected any) but still remained very peaceful and quiet. In the welcome pack there was a butchers menu to order any produce which you wish to purchase during your stay. I walked down to order some pies and even though it wasn't their "pie making day" they were quick to ask the kitchen staff to make us some regardless, and both the steak pie and fruit pie were delivered to our door within a few hours - and my goodness they were absolutely devine! Overall, this property is great value for money, and prefect for those who just want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and relax in this small rustic dog friendly cottage in the middle of the countryside surrounded by incredible views. Thanks again for having us!

Ticked all our boxes - started with a welcome pack - the bacon and sausages were delish.
Ticked all our boxes - started with a welcome pack - the bacon and sausages were delish. Much more equipment than expected. Clean and comfortable. The area was spot on - unless you like everything on your doorstep. Very enjoyable and a good price ?
