My husband, our family and I needed a place to stay while in the area for my mother's funeral. This place was perfect for us--nice and quiet, good location, plenty of room for us to spread out in the house and relax.
We got off on the wrong foot with the host regarding the check-in procedure, but other than that, the stay was wonderful. We were arriving on Sunday afternoon, some of us driving, some flying. Since we were leaving home Saturday morning, I messaged her Friday evening and asked for check-in instructions so that I could review it on my computer rather than my phone. She replied that she wouldn't be home until late Saturday evening, but would send me the instructions then. When I got up Sunday morning and there was still nothing about how to get into the house, I called and left a voice mail, and sent another message through VRBO. She did reply quickly, but said she doesn't provide check-in codes until TEN MINUTES prior to your check-in time. Now, I assume they have had some bad experience with prior renters to feel they can't trust people to not show up and enter super early, so I'm not complaining about their policy, but it would have been helpful, and prevented a lot of stress for me, if they had just said that up front. We use VRBO rentals quite often and have never encountered such a policy.
Our only other negatives were that there were no paper towels or napkins (but an empty paper towel holder), and the supply of plates is limited.
