Very nice house in a fantastic location
"Stayed for the Thanksgiving holiday with my extended family of 15. Communication with the host was easy, the house was in excellent condition and the location right on the beautiful beach was a huge bonus. The house is huge but a funky layout. Only 6 of the bedrooms have bathrooms, because the master ..."

Wonderful stay!
"Once again, the Thompson Hotel was a great stay. This time, the highlight was our view of the river. The room was comfortable, quiet, and clean and welcoming for us and our two dogs. Can't say enough great things about this hotel! This is the place to stay if you are in Savannah. Great staff, that go over and beyond from valet to front desk. Beautiful amenities including fitness center and a roof top pool with an excellent view of the boats on the water. Plus it's fairly new only a few months old so none of that clammy hotel germy feel. I really enjoyed my stay here, highly recommended.

The King-Tisdell Cottage is a handsomely restored 1896 Victorian cottage named for local black citizens Eugene and Sarah King, and later Mrs. King's second husband Robert Tisdell. A proposed public housing project threatened demolition of the cottage at its previous address, and it was subsequently moved to its current location. Today the King-Tisdell Cottage serves as a black culture museum. Among other things, the museum interprets Savannah and the neighboring sea islands with an emphasis on the contributions and roles of African-Americans to the region's rich history. The museum contains many interesting artifacts, including a bill of sale for slaves which was written in Arabic by plantation slaves.
