Upon walking into the VRBO, we were hit with a fragrance so strong you could taste it. We unplugged the air freshener and it took days for the smell to dissipate. Once the smell was gone, it was replaced with a strong smoke smell. Within minutes of arriving, all three of us immediately got allergies from the smoke, dust, animals, and fragrance. I'm pretty sure the mattress I was on was sprinkled with carpet fresh. The apartment itself was not "modern vibes," but instead an extremely old, run-down place with old, broken furniture. The kitchen table was broken, the drawer in the bathroom was broken, several outlets did not work, including the only one that was in the bathroom. Several plates/dishes were not clean. The garage was a super small, scary mess - if you have anything larger than a sedan, you will not fit in it. The air conditioner is a unit sitting on the living room floor. The windows in the bedroom are painted and ugly. The curtains are all very thin and let light in all night long. The bathroom curtains are so thin, I felt uncomfortable that people could see me when I got out of the shower. There were huge dust bunnies behind the doors and under the bed. Our feet turned black after walking around the place barefoot. Check-in was easy. There were plenty of towels and ample items to use for cooking. The owner told us that we could leave, but there was no other place to go - everything was sold out. They didn't even give us a discount!
My fiancé, a couple of my friends, and I made this our spot over Great Lake State Weekend while we were up in the Soo and it worked out so well. The property was nice and it was close to everything in town plus the campus. Very thankful we chose this stay!
This property is a great location. I was disappointed in the cleanliness of the property. Specifically under beds and behind doors and kitchen cupboards and drawers. I recommend a visit by owners to verify cleaning meets your standards. The bedding, towels and remodeling of bathroom is above average. With some elbow grease this could be a 5 star stay.
The apartment was clean and well equipped. We loved that it was walkable to downtown. The building is old and it appears they are fixing up the whole building and re-doing other apartments so common areas like hallways are still dated and in the process of getting cleaned up. We enjoyed our stay.
I came to visit my son and wanted a full kitchen. The location was fantastic. I walked everywhere most of the time. The bed was comfortable. There were a couple electronic issues and the host was quick to come and solve. I would stay here again.
Nicely renovated apartment. Great location. We canceled our initial reservation at a motel across from the Locks so that we could bring our dog. Pleasantly surprised to find this great property!
