If it’s glamping you're after, you can’t find anything better than the Treetops' Dune Buggy cottage. Decked in vintage sophistication, this studio-style, open-concept living space may have no AC, but it does have a screened-in porch to die for.
Plus, an outdoor shower, wood-burning fireplace, and amazing views the Saugatuck dunes and woodland. Did we mention there’s a bar?

The Treetop’s unique, vintage cottages come with a spectacular location. Perched on top of a 50-foot dune, the complex is positioned directly across the lake from downtown Saugutuck. As the primary means of access to Lake Michigan, the harbor is perpetually full of boats, music, and other fun sights.
It’s also a short 15 minute dune hike (or 2-minute drive) to award-winning Oval Beach, named in Condé Nast Traveler’s Top 25 Beaches in the World, National Geographic Traveler’s Top Freshwater Beaches in the USA, and MTV’s Top 5 Beaches in the USA.

Dining in the Dune Buggy is as rustic as the cottage. Outside, your experience is elevated by a gas grill and plenty of outdoor seating. The inside bar doesn't cater to homemade meals but the Dune Buggy includes a coffee pot, plates and silverware, a mini fridge & freezer, and a microwave.

On the large screened-in porch, sprawl out on the L-shaped couch, grab a bevy from the bar, and enjoy nature protected from the bugs. A private powder room is located off one side of the queen-sized bed, but if it’s a shower you’re after, you’ll find it outside, tucked behind a rustic, wooden facade. Nature-living at its most luxurious.

This studio-style living space is packed with sophistication and hand-picked amenities. Entering the cottage, you’ll find a living space with dining table and wood-burning stove and a bedroom tucked neatly behind a corner.

THE DETAILS
The Dune Buggy cottage is decked in vintage sophistication, making this studio-style living space the quaintest kind of lovely escape. Enjoy the wood-burning fireplace, outdoor shower and amazing views of the Saugatuck dunes and woodlands. You’ll never go back to glamping once you revel in the Lux.

Lovely minimalist getaway
Lovely simple living nestled in the woods. This home was great for traveling with our 1 year old. Simple open floorplan, nice enclosed porch, and space in the bedroom for our pack n play. Floor was a little dirty but I think that comes with the old wood charm and sandy soil outside, but we may just notice more because one of our party spent lots of time on the floor. Host was SO welcoming and responsive, and gave us lots of good local recommendations. Would definitely stay here again!

Phenomenal Experience!
If you are looking a place to stay do not pass this location up! It is an absolutely perfect spot with regards to an easy and quick drive to the city, or a short walk to the lake. The property is extremely cozy and scenic. Erica was just extremely accommodating and checked in periodically to make sure all our needs were met. This was a perfect place to experience Saugatuck and I highly recommend it!!!

Home away from home!
We stayed here as a mini honeymoon. The property was beautiful, and we felt right at home. Erica was super helpful with any questions we had - the cabin had everything we needed for our two-night stay. We enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit at the property - we also enjoyed massages at the Aveda salon and cruised the river in a retro boat rental. We had a great time and will be back!

Cozy retreat with a beautiful view.
We loved this cozy getaway with a great view of the water. It was very close to town, but we could have enjoyed the cottage without even going to town. The amenities were perfect and Erica was wonderful. Very clean. Can't wait to go back.

Wonderful Getaway
Easy check in. Super cute place & very peaceful. Erica quickly responded to a ton of questions and gave great restaurant recommendations, she even let us know the Root Beer Barrel was opening for the season during our stay so we didn’t miss out! Great location, just down the road from Mt.Baldhead steps with scenic lookout. Only 5 minutes from The Dunes resort if you’re looking for dancing or drag shows, etc. Hot tub was wonderful. We will absolutely be back again!

The cabin was rustic with modern updates. Very nice. The grounds were relatively void of native plant life. The view was beautiful. Erica, our host, was very nice.

Lacking privacy
The cabin is cute and in a great location. The only issue is the complete lack of privacy. There are windows on all sides, and yet no curtains! Given the proximity of the other cabins, this is ridiculous. I was standing in the shower/sitting on the toilet and staring into the windows of the cabin next door. The solution is easy and inexpensive - just put up a few curtains! I would happily return if they made this improvement. Until then - no thanks.

My husband and I had a great time at the Lookout Cottage. It was tranquil, quiet, and had beautiful views of the water. It was easy to get to downtown Saugatuck. We rented a boat from 1 Adventure Company which was basically across the street. The cottage was clean, spacious, and had great outdoor space including a hot tub. We would love to return!

Charming property
My partner and I wanted a fall getaway to the Michigan and this was a great spot. It was close to the water and nice hikes and included a fire pit to warm up during this cooler season. The one downside for us - which the owner is aware of and addressing - is that there were no curtains in areas where one typically would want privacy such as the bedroom and shower. The other cabins on the property are very close so it made it a bit awkward when others were staying at those properties but the owner was very communicative and tried to help us with solutions. Overall we would definitely stay at this property again!

Respite
My husband and I were on a 3 day respite trip. We have a 100 year old cabin in New Hampshire that my grandfather built that I have been going to since I was a little girl. This piece of property and the 3 cabins were like going home for us. They are so authentic to the time period when they were built, but with all of the updated amenities. ( Loved the shower)The cabin is perched up high in a wooded setting and when you wake up in the morning and open the glass doors, you are looking out at a magnificent view of the water. There is a wonderful sitting area with a fire pit and Adirondack chairs situated where you can relax and savor the view. There is a hot tub and shower in the woods close to the cabins. The cabin we stayed in even had a sleeping porch which I loved. We were lucky and had the place to ourselves. There are three cabins, and I think it would be perfect for a group of friends or families. Saugatuck is right across the River, Lake Michigan was a very short drive or walk up the hill and Mt Baldhead sand dune was within walking distance. Perfect location. We will go back for sure.

Clean and freshly updated cabin with antique features. Friendly and responsive owner! Made for a relaxing weekend away from the grind of work and city. Great view of downtown Saugatuck, visible from the fire pit. We enjoyed hearing the music across the river!
