Good boutique hotel in Old Colonial city
Great value for money hotel. I usually stay in the Nicolas Olvando or the Marriott but paying almost £300 for a night in these hotels is a joke. Their idea of 5 star quality next to a ferry port is something worth re-considering if you enjoy your sleep. The location is great and it's close to everything you will need to start your day with quite a few good restaurants, a supermarket that accepts foreign currency if you run out of pesos and most importantly great history to see. Can't fault this hotel in any way as for the price you pay (sometimes as cheap as £25 a night) and a few good bars that get lively over the weekend, it's a steal.

Walking distance from everything
Hotel is in a nice area walking distance (a block ) from grocery stores, restaurants, shopping. A few minutes from the beach. Hotel remains locked to keep out anyone who isn't residing there. Staff are on site and Manning the front door 24/7. My only complaint is my tub/shower was not working properly and I had to wash up using the basin.

Ok hotel;
small rooms and shower; saw few cockroaches in the room; safe does not work well; electricity keeps going out, so at times no a/c or fan. For the price not worth it. However, very good location.

Savoy Boutique Hotel
The lobby of this hotel gives you a quaint guest experience. The staff was friendly and the accommodations were Ok. The bathroom was very small. One of the downsides is that the power went out multiple times so my guest and I showered and bathed by flashlight and the staff couldn't tell us when the power would be restored. When it was restored, it would go in and out.

Man, do I feel violated!!
I just stayed here for 3 days & 2 nights, and this hotel gave it to me hard for 3 days, especially the last day! --Day 1, The electricity, wifi, & AC did not work. The power was out in the entire hotel, and because of the electrical issues, the AC unit in my suite made an annoying beep every 5 seconds for nearly 4 hours! It was torturous!! I informed the office several times, but they & their one technician didn't know how to fix it. --Day 2, Mary from the reception desk called my room and said, "there is a complaint about you." She went on to say that OTHER EMPLOYEES are unhappy that I'm using my own coffee cup at their complimentary Coffee station. --Day 3, The office charges me a $15 late check out fee for checking out at 2 pm instead of 1 pm. They did this knowing full well I had asked them twice in the prior 3 days about my check out time, and that each time they told me it was 2 pm, ...and NEVER said a thing about a fee. Well I confronted the reception desk guy Joel, his boss Gabriela, and even her boss! I presented the facts of Joel telling me twice, "2pm--no mention of fee" with the specific times he said it. They all evaded my assertions, and cited policy, etc. They never gave me my money back only returning $85 of the required $100 deposit at check-in. --These guys really gave it to me good for 3 days. They did these things to me, a nice customer who tipped everyone over his 19 total nights stayed since last November. On your stay, what will they do to you!!

Well worth staying at this hotel for the price.
If looking for a safe, clean hotel to sleep in than this hotel is well worth the money which is a very reasonable price. The rooms have good air conditioning with a ceiling fan which keeps you cool and comfortable. If you are looking for a lot of amenities than look else where. You will need to go out for food or bring food back to your room. No elevators in this building. Yes it is a slight negative but a little exercise for a person shouldn't be a negative. Staff people always try to help. Sometimes language barrier is a problem but they do try to find someone to understand your question. A lot of sightseeing in the area where hotel is. During my stay the problem I had was not the hotels fault. The humidity was a big problem but thanks to the AC in my room working good I stayed comfortable. This was my first stay at this hotel and if I was in the area again I would look to book this hotel. The bathroom was fine but the shower area could be a bit bigger. Not an issue because it served its purpose, hot water always and I was cleaned.

STAY ANYWHERE ELSE
This place is the worst. A couple of the staff are well-intentioned (Reily and Maria esp. deserve medals of honor). Then there are all the others (Laura) who try to speak about customers in Spanish, assuming zero comprehension of the language. Or the laughable bartender-woman who hides behind "I don't speak English." Certainly a bartender must have heard the word "ice" in many languages. To walk away from a customer twice was the highest of poor customer service from that bartender. There appears to be a hotel "frugality" policy as amenities include: (1) only one towel, (2) closet but no clothing hangers, (3) refrigerator but no glass or cups into which to pour anything, (4) television but only one annoying hotel channel, (5) no soap or soap dish, (6) running water but no hot water, (7) windows but only views of a brick wall and trash, etc. There was something on the bed sheets. There was so much noise from really loud staff midday added to the extremely loud traffic, extremely loud music from two different stores, street vendor yelps and ringing repeatedly of some tin device that is not used tropical songs. Stay elsewhere or here at your risk. This "boutique hotel" is more "boutique hostel." At least then expectations are appropriately managed.

The wifi is spotty at best~ And the A/C started raining water & ice on me. The bed is hard, the bathroom sucks....super tiny. The best thing about this place is the house keepers. They clearly want to nickel and dime a person to death...crazy

Think twice
The hotel is in a wonderful location right on the major Street in the colonial Zone. The hotel has a Boutique small feel, many of the rooms are very small. We booked two Suites which were wonderful. Two main issues we had with the hotel was their guest policy which is quite annoying; they require all visitors to your room to register at the front desk and pay a $5 fee. As well, in the night, the door is locked and the person attending that locked door is not readily available, thus leaving me feeling stranded one day inside trying to get out, which felt like an extreme fire hazard. I probably would never stay here again considering the above details.

Excellent customer service, but nothinf else good
Let me start by saying that the people who work in this hotel are very warm, nice, and professional. Great customer service, and clean rooms, but everything else was extremely disappointing. The Wifi was constantly going out, and then coming back on, repeatedly. The bathroom was ridiculously small. The shower had almost no water pressure at all. The toilet flushing mechanism was so weak that they have a sign telling you to not flush any toilet paper down the toilet. The sink was smaller than my two hands put together. The bed could not even fit two people. There was no elevator in the entire building for me to take my two suitcases up three flights of stairs. The noise from the street was constant. There were homeless beggars outside the front door (24 hours per day) who asked me for money the very second that I walked out the door, every day, every night. You have to pay the hotel an extra fee to bring any guest to your room (male or female, friend or girlfriend, family or not, it does not matter). The room's safe was as small as one hand, no exaggeration. And the paint was chipping off the walls, looking nothing like in the pictures on the website. As you can see, the hotel was not anywhere near what I had expected. That is why I left after only night, and cancelled the remaining six nights of my reservation there. But I do not blame the hotel staff, as they were polite and professional the whole time.

Small and ok for the price.
Hotel is clean. But it needs a parking lot also need a card key not a real key. After 10pm the hotel lobby is lock and if you are out after 10pm you need to ring the bell so the receptionist can come and open the door for you. But is close to shopping areas and restaurants. Nobody but the person that reserved the room can go to the room, no visitors allow in the room at all.

The hotel is located in the colonial district in Santo Domingo. Historical monuments and buildings everywhere. There are cafes and shops in walking distance.
