La Casa di Elsa dates back to the beginning of the 20th century when it was nothing more than a humble rural house, with animal stalls on the ground floor and the peasants' rooms immediately above; not far away is the now uninhabited old owner's house. It retains, from its past, the beautiful original stones of the walls, exposed on the outside and, in places, seen under the plaster in the interior walls, as well as a few renovated pieces of furniture such as the two old madie (old kitchen cupboard once used for kneading and storing bread), now converted into useful cupboards. The skilful renovation which was completed in 2013, the excellent finishing touches, the simple and refined furnishing, the lush garden and the panoramic swimming pool make La Casa di Elsa today a home with all comforts ready to meet your highest expectations. The green woods all around and the characteristic medieval town centre of Santa Fiora towering above are just a taste of the wonders that this corner of Tuscany has to offer, starting from Etruscan towns steeped in history, like Montepulciano, Montalcino and San Casciano di Bagni, to the great art cities, not forgetting the culinary excellence and natural beauties, unique in the world. The good road network facilitates short excursions, including trips to the sunny beaches of the Tyrrhenian Sea, just an hour’s drive away. The medieval village of Santa Fiora, considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, contains the remains of the ancient castle Aldobrandesco and the Peschiera downstream revealing the ancient and rich history of the country, made of miners and mines, fishermen and fish, nobles and palaces. The oldest part of the town was built around the remains of the Aldobrandesque fortifications, of which the Clock Tower is adorned with the ceramics of the Della Robbia family, whose battlements date back to the 19th century. A little further on stands the Palazzo Sforza which was built over the remains of the walls of the old castle and the Church of Saints Flora and Lucilla which houses the famous terracotta altarpieces of the Della Robbia Florentine workshop. The Peschiera, a quiet mirror of limpid water dedicated to trout breeding, is a small and enchanting park immersed in silence and tranquility. Next to the wall of the Peschiera is the small Church of the Madonna delle Nevi, built above the sources of the river Fiora, visible thanks to a glass floor. Going back to the village from Via Carolina, turn right to the Church of Sant'Agostino not to miss one of the most enchanting corners of the village, following the various streets you pass in the middle of the ghetto of the Jews, whose appearance is incredibly similar to what should have been in the mid-sixteenth century, until you reach the Piazza del Ghetto, the only one of Santa Fiora to have only one access. In Santa Fiora it is also possible to visit the Mercury Mine Museum.

Interior:
The house has two floors which, due to the sloping ground, have both direct access to the outside. Laurel hedges and a small lawn area border the main entrance on the first floor which leads into a small hallway on to which open two double bedrooms, one with a balcony, and a double bedroom with divisible beds, all facing the view. One of the rooms has an en-suite bathroom with shower while the other two share a second bathroom with shower. From the hallway a wooden staircase leads to the living area which consists of a large open-plan space with toilet, living room, well-equipped kitchen and dining room. From here two large French windows open on to the portico, furnished with table and chairs, where you can enjoy alfresco meals whilst admiring the landscape.
Park:
The woods and the olive grove, part of a 4-hectare estate, border the garden surrounding the house with many tall trees typical of this area such as chestnuts, oaks and cypresses, walnut, hazelnut, cherry and apple trees. You can spend your days relaxing in the beautiful garden, arranged in three large terraces, with lawn enlivened by colourful flower pots, full of interesting corners such as the outdoor seating area with sofas and armchairs or the panoramic terrace with the brickwork barbecue where you can cook delicious grills. Not far from the main entrance is a gravel parking area from which two charming paths will take you, in just a few minutes, through the woods, alongside little streams, to the village centre.
Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.
Swimming Pool:
A few large steps cross the lawn along the 20 m separating the house from the panoramic swimming pool, set in the lowest terrace of the garden and clearly visible from the rooms and patio. Edged in stoneware tiles and lined in PVC, the pool measures 5 x 11 m, with a constant depth of 1,40 m and has salt purification. Roman steps lead into the water and it is equipped with internal and external lighting. The solarium area extends over a level surface, partly paved but mostly lawn, provided with sunbeds, umbrellas and a cold-water shower; all trees create numerous areas of shade, welcome during the hottest days.
