Completely renovated in 2008 and newly furnished, this unique two-level unit is part of a historic triplex in the desirable West Beach area. Your doorway is just 1-1/2-blocks from the sands and volleyball courts on West Beach near Stearn’s Wharf, and easy walking distance to downtown State St. shops and restaurants. Also very close is the Amtrak station; no need for a car at all if arriving by train!

The main-floor Living Room has a top-quality queen pull-out sofabed by AU for additional quests, and a 32' flat-screen HD-TV with HD-DirecTV and DVD-player.

The small galley kitchen has a fridge and stove/oven with granite counters, and is outfitted with microwave, coffee-maker, NutriBullet blender, toaster and cookware/dishware.

French-doors off the living area lead to a spacious, private outdoor deck area beside Mission Creek with patio table/chairs. Lots of birdlife.

Upstairs the sunny bedroom has a plush-top queen-size bed with down duvet & pillows, top-quality large dresser, desk and vanity. Adjoining white- tiled bathroom is outfitted with whirlpool tub and shower. Exotic walnut floors extend throughout.

At the price paid to stay in Santa Barbara, Ca. One should not have to jockey around the town’s difficult parking regulations. If there is no way around the city ordinances then this should be ‘loudly’ stated in the original property description.

We enjoyed our stay in unit 3 and the location eas perfect for us. We either walked or biked everywhere. We love spending time in the funk zone and it’s only a few blocks over We already have another trip booked The Chapala Gardens Sandy was very responsive too!

Perfect location. Friendly host. Bedroom was a good size. Great patio. If using the pull-out couch to sleep, will take up the living room. Bathroom is upstairs, steep staircase so be careful. Shared rooftop garden space was really cool.

Cute Property, Amazing Location
This place was really charming and included all of the necessities. Bed was really comfortable, and the upstairs balcony/patio was really cool (the back patio was a nice bonus, too). But honestly, we didn't spend too much time in the property because the location was SO great. With just a 5 minute walk, you can get to the beach or to the Funk Zone and its amazing bars, restaurants, etc. Being close to the train station (about a 3 minute walk) was helpful, too ... it does bring some train noise (which didn't bother us too much) but it made continuing our trip on to LA very, very easy. When we visit SB again, this place will be at the top of our list of housing options.

Beautiful location! Needs repairs.
We love the apartment, the owner and the location! I do feel it is overpriced and repairs need to be made. The windows do not fit properly and insects can fly right in. They are also very difficult to close. The blinds don't all open or close and are in bad shape. One screen upstairs has a hole in it with a piece of tape making a chute through it. The back door is difficult to open and close because the knob is too close to the frame. It's probably warped. The water takes 3 minutes to warm up which is a terrible waste of water. If you want to fill the tub and turn the water to hot it just dribbles in. There were ants every day in the bathtub. The sofa bed is as hard as a rock. The little patio is in bad shape and could be spruced up very cheaply. The wood lattice fence is rotted and falling apart. The paint is peeling. These are all pretty minor fixes. I do believe the owner should replace the windows and back door because they would be easier to operate, look nicer and save energy in the winter. All said we still loved the place. We have traveled the world and stayed in a lot worse! It is just more expensive than any place we have stayed including 5 star hotels in Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle so until these repairs are made the price should come down a bit. BTW: The rooftop garden next door is really special!

Not at all as advertised
The first thing I noticed upon entering our space was how much smaller it was in real life, versus in photos. Upon entering our bedroom, the first thing I noticed where 2 small but very dark blood stains on the fitted sheet, right by the pillow. Eww. If you want a nice, relaxing getaway....stay as far away from this location as possible. I didn’t realize that “close to the Amtrak” meant whistles blowing by at full blast AND duration at 12:30, 4:20, 6:40, 7:50, 9:00 and 9:35 in the morning. Wow! No sleep had here. Unless you and your fam are in perfect synchronicity, forget about separate bedtimes. The tv from downstairs sounds as if it is on your pillow (which is quite nice- the pillow, I means) and due to the lack of acoustic dampening, one is forced to take the nice pillow and jam it over the exposed ear. Same is true for the one and only bathroom, which is offordered privacy via a bifold door. Are you kidding me?, Oh, and since we are touching on the noise level of all sorts of things...the construction jackhammering started at 7am Monday morning.. I cannot believe the owners did not give us a heads up as to the current condition of things. But, if they had, we most certainly would not have booked, so... They bathroom sank dripped constantly, and NO hot water could be coaxed from it- only from the shower/ tub. (Which turned out to be a half tub- I had to sit up stock straight in order to fit.) The pictures made it seem as though the roof top deck was accessible to us. Alas, this was not the case. As our “patio” is in full shade and next to a nasty water tunnel (birds abundant? Just some VERY noisy ducks), we spent a few minutes taking our coffee on the concrete front stairs, it being the only place in the sun. The neighborhood, however, was lovely. I would never stay here again or recommend it to anyone. I feel totally ripped off. However, I did get the impression that the owners are lovely people.

My friend and I took a girls trip to Santa Barbara, and this unit was perfect for this trip. It was walking distance to everything we needed - beaches, urban wineries, restaurants, and shopping. It was private and quaint, and we really enjoy the unit for the 2 of us. Check in and communication was very easy with the host.
