The host greeted us and stopped by on occasion to make sure all was well. The house was rustic and comfortable with all the amenities. Located close to a food mart and bus stop. It was within walking distance to restaurants and water sports. Our family had a great time and plan to return.
Our family wanted a short mini vacation before the holidays. Since there was 2 young children, the estate worked well for us. Thanks to the owner recommendations for a driver and chef the time was well spent.
My sisters and I were looking for a unique place to spend christmas and we chose Bermuda rather randomly. Having never been there, we did not know what to expect. Ben answered all of our questions before and during our trip. The house was quaint, cozy and absolutely perfect for us. We would highly recommend this property and hope to be able to stay again in the future.
Let me start by saying , Ben , you were an amazing host , made us feel relaxed and at home from the minute we saw the open door welcoming us . The property was stunning and the wild mix of vegetation with its blooming flowers, made it it feel like a botanical gardens . The village was charming , easy access to transportation , people were very friendly. The beach was lovely for swimming on hot days . We loved Bermuda and really hope to return again to your house and your wonderful hospitality again .
We had a great visit & stay at Belfield. Ben couldn’t have been more responsive, friendly & helpful. The house is historic, quaint & cozy. It is well equipped in all ways from towels & linens to the kitchen. Lots of space to enjoy outside from the morning coffee patio to the evening sitting area. Cottage is private and good if someone needs to do some work. Easy walk to well appointed grocery store. Beaches are also walkable and nice. Bus stops & railway trail are very close by. Overall a beautiful property.
Loved the house. The guest house. The location. All the beach toys they have. You could hit a golf ball into the ocean from the yard. You walk through a little park that has a big playground for little kids on that beach the most crowded it was were eight people Down to none. Right down the street from a convenience store and the grocery store which is by the bus stop. It is far from the airport, but other than that the location is great not far from the ferry. Only one problem and that’s the mice and Bugs. So long as you keep your food in the refrigerator or microwave and you don’t mind seeing a mice here or there then you’re fine.
It was perfect for our family of 9. The beach was perfect for us to walk to. We enjoyed the nature sanctuary.
We were just not prepared for the very noisy frogs at night. The windows in the guest house are not very strong and did not block the sound as well as the main house. We would have loved sound proof windows but we now realize people of Bermuda just enjoy the music of those frogs.
Ben was very nice to work with.
Thank you.
Our extended family stayed here, 6 adults and 2 children, and were extremely comfortable in Ben's home. The house had everything we could have asked for and we especially loved the yard and outdoor spaces. The beach pretty much in the backyard had some great snorkeling, and the proximity to Daniel's Head made for a great day trip as well, at both beaches we were pretty much the only ones there.
The supermarket and bus stop being a quick walk away made it very convenient for us to get around the island. We loved the quite neighborhood where Ben's home is situated, with lower crowds, while also being a quick walk and bus ride to the more busy areas of the island. Ben's house is also very close the start of the railtrail which we had a blast riding all the way into Hamilton.
Ben was close by and always willing to stop by and answer any questions we had, a great host!
We would highly recommend Ben's house to anyway thinking of having an amazing Bermuda getaway.
Take Care,
The Willards
Our family included 6 adults and 1 & 3 year old.
Ben was very responsive and Liz was wonderful & met us and explained things & to let her know if we needed anything.
The house& cottage bedrooms were great.
The grounds were so pretty and expansive.
The beach was across the side street as well as the playground which my granddaughters loved!
Unfortunately (this has nothing to do with the property ) the beach was covered in broken glass pieces.
Using the bus was quite easy to get to your destinations.
My few drawbacks I feel compelled to mention (given the price)
The floors/carpets were unacceptably filthy…..we had 2 toddlers who like to play on the floor. The high chair was past its prime & very dirty and needs to be replaced if it is being advertised.
There was no outdoor grill (an Old George Foreman) which we had planned on using extensively & the outdoor seating had to have towels on the chairs. They look charming but are too weathered for continued use.
Please don’t misunderstand, We had a wonderful time! These items are quite easy to remedy.
Belfield was a good spot for a large group reunion. It was great fun. We had people from different countries and all age groups. Most stayed at the house. Others, from a sailboat, came to eat and get together. It was easy for us to come and go on independent schedules. The grounds are big and fun to explore. Lots of birds and wildlife. Some of us worked... good WiFi etc.
We found a few surprises, like an oven that didn't work very well and under-performing a/c in two bedrooms. We all wanted more shutters open for a brighter interior. They didn't move easily.
Local residents startled us, taking shortcuts thru the yard space, walking and on bikes..
Getting around in the house challenged a mobility impaired group member, with many floor height transitions, and no handrails around the back steps and patio.
Sadly, there was quite a lot of broken glass in the water at the nearby beach tho the sand and park were better cared for than on past visits to that part of the island. Local beach-goers wore protective foot gear in the water at a lot of the smaller beaches.
Plan ahead for taxis. They were hard to arrange this year.
Bermuda is a special place... enjoy your visit.
Belfield beach property is a great house for a multi family gathering. There was ample space to spread out and enjoy activities with different groups. Ben is a wonderful, responsive host. The kitchen was well equipped to handle food preparation for the 11 of us throughout the week. The house is well stocked with amenities. The Marketplace supermarket is a 4 minute walk and was really convenient. We also enjoyed the excellent pizza from Lil Pompadora. Great location for beach and exploring and easy to get bus into hamilton or other beaches..
Pretty neat place. Everybody seems to know the place and the owner. Five fruit trees on the property. Super relaxing beach across the street and good food at the end of the block. Couldn’t have been happier was traveling with my parents, wife, and two teenagers
Special thanks to Ben for providing the perfect venue for old friends to reunite, catch up and relax on the beautiful grounds of Belfield Beach Estate!
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
Until next time!!
Russ
We couldn’t have loved the historic Belfield Estate more. It was walkable to a beautiful beach that was a perfect speed for our littles (aged 2-6) and convenient to other areas on the island. Ben was very responsive and a joy to rent from. We loved every minute.
We returned to Belfield Estate after 4 years and fell in love again. This rustic historic home comfortably housed 6 adults and a young family of 4 in the cottage. The grounds are magnificent and the park and beach are right next door. Do not miss the sunsets from the beach! We walked several evenings up to Cambridge Beach resort for dinner. Ben was wonderful and brought us extra beach chairs, toys and shade for our grandchildren. This is truly a very special location!
House and cottage ideal for our UK and USA 3 generations family reunion during COVID! Great location as near playground, beach, supermarket and lovely area to explore on bicycles. Ben is great host and responded quickly to any issues that arose.
Beautiful old estate half block from a great beach. Short walk to grocery and some casual restaurants. Short walk to H2O Sports for boat rental and a nice 20 min walk to the ferry to Hamilton. South beaches were amazing (easy bus ride). Some restaurants and shops around the island were closed due to pandemic and the Covid testing was not a blast...but overall Bermuda and Belfield House made for a great vacation!
What an excellent time all 8 in our party had at Ben's Belfield Estate. Would definitely stay here again! Everything we needed was already provided or easily obtained within walking distance. The house and grounds are splendid! What tropical paradise!
We did have a few issues. Ben had to leave the island to attend to family issues, and for a couple of days before our arrival our communications went unanswered until I called. That was abit unnerving, but once we chatted, all was well.
Also, four of the room HVAC systems were not functioning when we arrived, along with the oven and clothes dryer. Ben (and Liz) were quick to respond, and the repair men fixed what they could, as some were not fixable and instead need to be replaced at a future time.
We had some bedroom and bathroom windows without blinds, missing shower curtains, and non functioning bathtub drain plugs, but all of those seemed to be work-in-progress and we were able to improvise. We left Ben a note for some of the things we found that needed minor repairs. Still a 5 star experience despite this!! We know that all old properties need constant TLC.
Thank you Ben and Liz for your hospitality and we hope to see you guys down the road for another one of our future road trips! Happy trails!
Close to everything, people were so friendly and the house was charming and perfet fo our family of 10. Our Hosts Ben and housekeper Liz were great. We'll beback for sure.
We spent a lot of time at 9 beaches, about a 10 minute walk down the lane to the old resort next door. Lovely period house and wow, big property, seems to be some farming going on. We saw fresh fruit on the trees. Will come back we think.
Just beautiful, historic Bermuda house. Steps from several sweet beaches, easy ride to Dockyard (or anywhere else on the islands!), lots of room, wonderful hosts. We spent hours on the veranda, just soaking it all in. All 9 of us would highly recommend!!
