Unique experience and cozy
The castle experience was worth the stay. It’s furnished with antiques, old artwork and arms that complement the castle really well. The dragon breathed for us too!

Magical place to make great memories
We were truly transported back to medieval times… The younger boys loved the experience of sleeping in the tower of the castle… The art and artifacts added so much more to the experience for the adults…looking forward to visiting again…

Family retreat
We had our entire family stay in this winter palace, with children ranging from 7 to 22 years of age, and they all enjoyed the stay thoroughly. They loved the medieval artifacts and paintings.

Too much good to list!
This place was so much fun. The pictures don't do it justice. It was remarkably clean for such a large space. There are certain little things that just made it special like the written tour guide of the decor. The dragon cake and flowers were so nice. The host was fantastic. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Incredible castle!
We were lucky enough to stay here during a big winter storm! This property is a magical castle and our group loved staying here. Its about a 20 minute walk from the resort or a 5 minute drive. The hot tub was relaxing and the place was comfortable. Just make sure to have a good car for driving in the snow since it can get icy. Thank you guys for an incredible stay ~

Great stay in a unique home
We all greatly enjoyed our stay at Chateau De Melusine. The unique building made for a lovely basecamp, with beautiful views and ski-in via The Spires trail network and ski-out via a short walk or ski (depending on snow conditions) to the Villagee access trail. The home itself is full of unique artifacts, and a trip to the owner Norman's dungeon next door is certainly in order if you have the opportunity. The dragon cake and fresh flowers he delivered on the first day of our stay were a welcome touch of hospitality.

Incredible stay
We had a fantastic stay at the castle. This is truly a one of a kind experience. We got lucky with the weather and had great snow during our stay. The ski in/out requires some insiders knowledge and practice but is super fun once you understand it. Norman the owner was very responsive and made sure the grill was working and was helpful telling us where to find the path to the village. We thoroughly enjoyed the dragon cake, the fireplace, hot tub, and admiring the medieval decor. The bathroom was also nice and has a heated floor. We unfortunately did not have time to get a tour of the other castle and dungeon, but we will definitely come back again!

Castle in the mountains
The communication with the property owner was stellar. The description of the property was accurate and the location was stunning. The castle was very unique and fun to explore. There were some cobwebs in the house and the hot tub didn’t seem to have been cleaned in a while and had quite a bit of scum around the edges. Overall it was a wonderful stay and we have a great time.

It’s Worth It
We loved our stay. It is such a unique place to visit and make memories. The fireplace was perfect. All the antiques really add to the whole vibe of the place. The house was very clean and the beds are comfy. The hot tub room was relaxing and private. Norman came by and gave us a dragon cake. He also gave us a tour of his collection of antiques in the castle next door. Thank you Norman for the special touches. We enjoyed spending time as a family and making memories in this magical place.

One of the Coolest Experiences You Will Ever Have!
My husband and I stayed here with my parents for two nights in May and It. Was. Epic. The road climbing up to Schweitzer was exhilarating, like climbing a mountain and then we found...the castle. It's one thing to see it in the photos online, but it is absolutely amazing to experience it in real life! WE couldn't stop laughing in amazement while we explored the whole castle. It was beautiful and clean and had all of these amazing artifacts from the 15th and 16th centuries and all of the modern amenities we could wish for. The furniture was perfect for the look of the castle. The bedrooms were so cool. Have I mentioned the fire breathing dragon?! So clever! We absolutely loved everything about our stay there. The owner even brought us a dragon cake to celebrate my parents' 50th anniversary which was completely a surprise and so appreciated....as if anything could have made the stay more perfect. This will be a trip that you will never forget!

Ski-in, Walk-out, Medieval Castle @ Schweitzer
Amazing stay, highly recommend it for something different. Pros: Like living in a medieval, European castle, but with all of the elements of modern times - hot water, electricity, wifi, full kitchen, large fireplace, hot tub, and ski-in access from Schweitzer. Cons: only 1 full bathroom and 1 half-bath. Neighbor does not allow skiing across her driveway to access slopes to "ski-out", necessitating skiing/walking down 90 yards of castle driveway, and another 100 yards of street to get to trail to ski to village. Note you must have major 4x4 wheel drive to get up the steep and curvy driveway. We arrived for check-in and the drive-way was unplowed, 9 inches of fresh snow on top of a season of hard packed snow, and 2 tries in our Ford Expedition Max 4x4 and could not make it all of the way up the driveway. We called property manager Vacasa, and they were VERY UNHELPFUL, said it was plowed and did nothing to resolve the problem. They even sent text message the next day saying we should be prepared by bringing a shovel (I have the text msg). Fortunately neighbors down the road saw our situation, and came and plowed out the driveway for us. We were able to access the castle! We never left for the next 4 days, leaving and coming by skis only (it was awesome). The ski-out to the village is further complicated by a 50 yard section of trail that goes across a dirt road. With fresh snow you can ski right across, once its plowed there is gravel.

An experience of a lifetime!
As guests who have never been to Europe, or even outside North America, this was a super fun experience especially for an anniversary trip thats been a dream. Schweitzer, Sandpoint and Pend Dreille are absolutely gorgeous! Pack light, cause those stairs getting up to the main level are legit when carrying heavy suitcases and coolers. Also, we were pulling a side by side trailer and barely made it into the driveway cause it's a sharp and steep angle. Absolutely would stay here again or in the larger castle when it becomes available!

Beautiful castle and great location
Such a beautiful castle to stay in. Love all the antiques. Great location right above Schweitzer. Loved taking the chair lift up and seeing the magnificent view above. Really good communication with the owner and flowers and cute dragon cake for us. The only negative was a woodpecker on the roof early this a.m
