"Had a great little break here in Portpatrick, helped by sunny weather. We were in one of the front facing rooms on the top floor. As advertised, the ceiling was low - sloped into the eaves at one side of the bed, so my wife had to duck a little when going to bed, but main part of room was over 6 feet, so fine for this 5'10" bloke. This may seem less than ideal, but the sitting area at the front of the room, had fab panoramic views of the whole Portpatrick harbour and beyond, which more than made up for ceiling height. Besides there are also rooms on first floor, which judging from hall height must be at least 10 feet. Dog friendly hotel, which is another plus. Anyway... great view, food was also very good. And singer on Saturday sounded good, although I didnt go into main bar area during the set, as would have been too much for doggo 😀. "

"When we arrived the staff were very helpful, and although we had arrived a couple of hours before check in, they advised us that the room was ready and we could drop our luggage off. They informed us that the car parking is anywhere in the public parking area, and there were plenty of spaces directly across the road from the Hotel. The Hotel itself is right on the Waterfront, although the name may give that away, and there is an outside seating area, to enjoy the sunshine with a few drinks from the bar. Some renovation work was ongoing in the hotel, but this did not affect our stay. The room was small but comfortable and the bathroom whilst very small was well thought out in the space allocated. The bed was comfortable, allowing for a good nights sleep and the shower was powerful. Breakfast was the usual mix of a cooked breakfast, along with a selection of cereals, yoghurt, bread and pastries, the cooked breakfast was very enjoyable and filling. We also had a meal in the restaurant one evening, the menu was extensive, and the quality of the food was very good. All in all a very nice stay, with friendly staff and we would definitely return in the future. . "

"The young staff, most of them from the Stranraer area, could not have been friendlier, or prouder of their home town and surrounding area. At times there were signs that there were insufficient staff on duty, which caused delays at mealtimes and in the bar. The staff continued to do their very best; any resulting problems were due to this apparent lack of resources. "

"Excellent country house hotel. The greatest asset are the staff who are welcoming , efficient and friendly. Room was immaculately clean. Grounds are beautiful to explore. Will definitely make this an annual visit. "
